I didn’t say it was TOO low.

I liked it.

I’d bet a week’s pay that every one of the scum who propagated the housing bubble and then rewarded themselves with TARP was immaculately dressed in a dark gray or dark blue suit with power tie, for each and every minute of their thievery.

Actually, I wish I could get a 50 mpg car like some models you could buy in the '80s.

Unfortunately, the American public dry-humps "safety" like a three year old unfixed Staffordshire mutt will hit your leg.

So everything you can buy now is a g-d d--n Nerfmobile with crash bars and air bags up the yin-yang, adding weight and futzing up handling and gas mileage.

Actually, the best you could do in 1985 was 44 mpg in a two seat Honda civic with a 91 CI engine. this was followed by a Chevy Sprint and a Suzuki SA310 at 43. http://fueleconomydb.com/index.php?-action=list&year=1985&-sort=combined_mpg+desc&-limit=10&-table=vehicles_summary&-cursor=0&-skip=50&-mode=list
