Yes, I agree 100%

I did not fully understand that until late 2006. GWB was forced to spend his whole second term trying to clean up that mess while Obama and Pelosi pounced and took over everything.(except he found time for his failed amnesty push in 2007.)

Yet the Republican Koolaid was so strong that many here were still repeating the Republican talking points in 2009 and early 2010, 2011 not very much.

Even today when I point out how a POTUS (even an R one) cannot leave a complete disaster behind and still be a success I still get those worn out lame excuses, and the same folks laugh at Obama's lame excuses.

I don't know if Papa Bush had better advisors than GWB, but he stopped before going into Baghdad (my wife calls it "BadBad"). You break it, you own it.

My view is that GWB achieved a cheap triumph in Afghanistan at first (using Afghan ground forces and US air power), but it's damned hard to keep both Iraq and Afghanistan under control from Washington.
