Obama: The 'Weaknesses In Our Economy' Are Due to Cuts in State and Local Gov't By Fred Lucas June 8, 2012

(CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama said today that the private sector is doing fine but that the economy is suffering because of cuts in state and local government.

“The private sector is doing fine,” Obama said at a press conference on Friday. “Where we’re seeing weaknesses in our economy, have to do with state and local government -- oftentimes, cuts initiated by governors or mayors who are not getting the kind of help that they have in the past from the federal government and who don’t have the same kind of flexibility as the federal government in dealing with fewer revenues coming in.”

State and local leaders were not the only ones to blame for a bad economy, as the president also blamed Republicans in Congress.

“If Republicans want to be helpful, if they really want to move forward, and put people back to work, what they should be thinking about is, ‘How do we help state and local governments and how do we help the construction industry?’” Obama said. “Because the recipes that they’re promoting are basically the kinds of policies that would add weakness to the economy, would result in further layoffs, would not provide relief in the housing market, and would result – I think most economists would estimate – in lower growth.”

Obama’s remarks about not enough state employees comes the same week that Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a Republican, survived a union-backed recall election because he curbed some of the state employee benefits and collective bargaining rules. Walker won the recall by a 9 percent margin, 54 to 45 percent.

This is clearly his spin on the Walker election. Instead of seeing the need for cuts, he is demonizing the states who have the guts to make them and implying that the Feds (namely Obama) will be coming to the rescue. This man is absolutely living in a world apart from the rest of us. He just simply refuses to “get it!” His ideological prism originated from too many years as a “community organizer” which consisted of spend, spend, spend and never worry about paying the money back. Hard telling how much of his life consisted of free college and “pretend jobs” based on his “Kenyan” Heritage. NEVER in his life, has he had to live within a budget, because the “other guy” always paid the tab and there was always someone else to do the real work!

They are laying off the Public employees that were hired by Stimulus 1 and 2 money. Now, that money has run out and Obama is trying for Stimulus 3. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting to get different results.

Even if he actually believed this, which I think he does.....after the Walker stunning victory in Wisconsin of anti union anti public sector one would think he would not be pushing that message of more state and local government

cuts initiated by governors or mayors . . . who don’t have the same kind of flexibility as the federal government in dealing with fewer revenues coming in

Yes, those who have to adhere to a budget and cannot spend us into oblivion...

BTW, didn't WI's Walker save precious public-sector jobs by belt-tightening, and by Obama's "logic" thus help the economy?

Very well said. But....there was a time in his life when he did have to live on a budget (1994-2002). And Mouchelle almost divorced him.

Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt. He’s calling for a renewed Federalism - let the states keep more of that money and defund the FedGov. Then failures will be even clearer.

Bobo is bored and he wants out, so he can cash in on the book advance and the lecture circuit. Bobo figures Romney is the least evil, so all the fight has gone out of him, after seeing the internals confirmed what he already knew -- Obama is The One-Term™.

He just blew himself up big time.

There’s no putting that genie back in the bottle...

Everybody now knows that’s what he believes - a bit like telling the Russians his hands will be free after the election...

Ooh that smell...

A burning Presidency surrounds him...

“He’s surely not on this one. Is he on dope (we all know he is a dope) or some kind of euphoric drug?”

He is throwing the election. A more clever statist is required for the fabian agenda to proceed without resistance.

Romney is going to win, and will continue the NWO agenda without spiking gun sales and sparking marches on Washington DC, as the more obvious Obama has.

I think Obama is in another revenge moment, which will be increasingly frequent, as things go our way state after state. Alinsky 2 would like very much to create headaches and anarchy in his enemy states. Those would be the Republican ones who are surviving, as opposed to the Marxist states sharing with one another the bad air of the dumpster they’re in together.

"Obama: The 'Weaknesses In Our Economy' Are Due to Cuts in State and Local Gov't"

Na. Our economic fall is caused by costs of state and local governments.

“The private sector is doing fine,”

By fine does he mean according to his plan to destroy it? In that case he is correct.
