As Savage just strummed before break, I think I know why he was out yesterday —
he was taking his 1st ukulele lesson!

I looked up the 548 E. 13th St. address on Google Maps and it says “Church of the Bible Crusaders.” It’s right next to a place called “east yoga” (all lowercase.)

I briefly tuned in and he identified the time as early Friday evening so I concluded it is live.

I’m listening to him on the station he just mentioned, KSTE out of Sacramento. 95% of the time I listen on radio, like today.

Sorry, Doc, islam cannot be considered a spoke on the wheel that leads to God. It is a false, corrupt, violent cult.

“To me it seems certain that the fatalistic teachings of Muhammad and the utter degradation of women is the outstanding cause for the arrested development of the Arab. He is exactly as he was around the year 700, while we have kept on developing”

Live. Savage mentioned this item from today's news at the start of the second hour.High school censors Hollywood producer's speech

Remember he's promoting a new book.. and this one is about himself so he won't have to read from it. He can just talk for most of the two hours.

Levin has made a couple of remarks about avoiding talk of Obama and Romney. At first I thought he was making fun of Savage who often says he's bored of talking about the two and we listeners don't want to hear about those two, we're either too tired or too stupid to care. So it's on to talk about himself for most of the two hours.

But maybe it's something else. Levin mentioned something that made me think that talk radio consultants are saying that talk radio should avoid talking about Obama and Romney so much. A cursory google search reveals consulting is big business. Go figure. How the hell do those charlatans get away with it?

Maybe they got Savage fooled and he spends hours talking about himself and doing "life coaching" or whatever.

People don’t pay as much attention to politics in the summertime, perhaps. We here are political junkies.

I have heard more than one person say they’re suffering from talk radio burnout lately. It can get tedious to hear “Obama bad / Romney good” week after week. (Thank heavens we do have winning breaks, like the 2010 Tea Party led elections and the Wisconsin victory.)

I do like the variety Savage provides with the politics interspersed. It was surprising to hear that one caller who actually went to that address in New York today.

Gulf of Tonkin (Obama version)

My fellow Americans: - As President and Commander in Chief, it is my duty to the American people to report that renewed hostile actions against United States ships on the high seas . . . repeated acts of violence against the Armed Forces of the United States must be met not only with alert defense, but with positive reply . . . We Americans know, although others appear to forget, the risks of spreading conflict. We still seek no wider war. . . I have informed instructed the Congress to pass a resolution making it clear that our Government is united in its determination to take all necessary measures in support of freedom and in defense of peace . . . And just a few minutes ago I was able to reach Senator Goldwater Governor Romney and I am glad to say that he has expressed his support of the statement that I am making to you tonight . . . It is a solemn responsibility to cancel the November elections . . . .

RE: "I do like the variety Savage provides with the politics interspersed."

Yes, I agree.

I literally never missed a minute of his local show on KSFO from almost day one to the early part of the 2000s. He was giving it back to the liberals as they had piled on conservatives for decades. He changed conservative talk for the better.

I recall all the personal stories he tells today -- his on-air health advice and "Herbs That Heal" were very welcomed.

KSFO never permitted best of shows so there was always a guest host. I even wished that Savage would record "lectures" to broadcast on his off days instead (not as frequent as today and he did the full three hours).

Then came 9/11 and what some who should know have said is a threat more serious than WWII.

I do remember WWII. I wish Savage who is just a little bit younger than me would do less personal stuff and cover the myriad items of domestic and foreign existential threats. Few can match how he does it so effectively.

What would the Greatest Generation have done if the war had dragged on for ten-plus years? That would have never been permitted -- no matter what total victory required them to do. And I mean no matter what.

so you are saying radio consultants give advice to avoid romney and obama to get more listeners and/or stay popular?

that makes sense-the hosts want to make their money rather than send a message

epic fail

I don’t doubt that O’s people have a hand in influencing the ‘consultants’ to stay away from the campaign

savage and levin fooled? I believe it and it will take time to work out the numbers to see if the the consultants were right-they’ll probably figure it out after the election is over.

and no I am not listening anymore, but I do still read the threads

It was interesting to hear his interview with Jerry Falwell. I like Savage but he fails to understand a major tenet of Christianity, i.e., the exclusivity of Christ(John 14:6, Acts 4:12). That does not mean Christianity teaches that non-believers are less human(4/5 persons is the term Savage used) than those of us who believe.

I think it's time for Savage to take that walk that no one can take for you . . . down the aisle to receive the Holy Ghost.

His speaking about 548 E. 13th Street could have been his invitaiton to go visit the place himself and get his soul saved.

Maybe he'll understand there is a link between the the tailor shop and the little church that now stands in its stead. A new ministry for him to replace the emptiness and futility of politics. Come home, Michael. :>
