Jesse Jackson: We Are Going to March on Gun Shops
Townhall ^ | 6/4/2012 | Katie Pavlich

Posted on 06/07/2012 7:05:02 PM PDT by neverdem

Last night in Racine, Wisconsin, while demanding jobs for the unemployed, Jesse Jackson decided to slam job creating gun dealers and called for a march on gun shops all over the country. h/t Katy Abram

"Guns out, jobs in."

Jackson wants to get rid of the very thing that has kept the economy afloat during Obama's presidency. The firearms industry has not only created jobs in the past three years but has also provided the government with a steady revenue stream.

NSSF today released a newly commissioned report detailing double-digit gains in jobs and other data showing the industry has been a leader in the nation’s economic recovery. The report can be viewed at http://nssf.org/impact.

Firearms industry members on Capitol Hill were briefed on such remarkable statistics as the 30.6 percent increase in jobs between 2008 and 2011, a 66.5 percent increase in economic impact and a 66.5 percent increase in federal taxes paid by industry companies.

Armed with the good news of the report and recognizing that jobs and the economy are of major importance in the November elections, industry executives are meeting today with elected officials during the NSSF-sponsored Congressional Fly-In.

“During difficult economic times and high unemployment rates nationally, our industry actually grew and created more than ten thousand new, well-paying jobs,” said NSSF President Steve Sanetti. “Our industry is proud to be one of the bright spots in this economy.”

More:

Companies in the United States that manufacture, distribute and sell firearms, ammunition and hunting equipment employ as many as 98,752 people in the country and generate an additional 110,998 jobs in supplier and ancillary industries. These include jobs in companies supplying goods and services to manufacturers, distributors and retailers, as well as those that depend on sales to workers in the firearms and ammunition industry. [1]

These are good jobs, paying an average of $46,858 in wages and benefits. And today, every job is important. In fact, in the United States the unemployment rate has reached 8.2 percent. This means that there are already 13,430,000 people trying to find jobs in the state and collecting unemployment benefits. [2]

Not only does the manufacture and sale of firearms and hunting supplies create good jobs in the United States but the industry also contributes to the economy as a whole. In fact, in 2012 the firearms and ammunition industry was responsible for as much as $31.84 billion in total economic activity in the country.

The Country Also Benefits from the Taxes Paid by the Industry

Not only does the firearms and ammunition industry create jobs, it also generates sizable tax revenues. In the United States the industry and its employees pay over $2.07 billion in taxes including property, income, and sales based levies. [3]

I’ve said it before:
Several years ago I watched the worm Jackson on a talk show.
A large set lamp blew out making a very large explosion.
Mr. Jackson hit the floor and nearly went under his seat.
Came up white as a ghost.
I about choked I laughed so hard.

Why doesn’t Jesse march on down to the south side of Chicago?

Go all the way down, to the south side. Encourage those black boys to give up their guns. Talk to those guys, and get those black boys to stay in school, stay out of trouble with the law, say out of trouble with girls, and turn their lives around. Do something useful.

Is there some place on the net to actually invite him to Mesquite Texas for our monthly gun show? It would be an honor to meet him and offer his group a real Texas welcome?

I really he couldn’t gather enough of the pink panthers to walk with him, but they are welcome.

LOL!
“That's like announcing you're gonna’ kick a Marine’s ass.”

Hey, I've done that many times myself, and the Marine just grinned at me! (his mother is my friend)

I wonder who exactly Jesse Jackson considers to be his “we”.
Does he have a mailing list?
He makes “them” sound like vigilantes or domestic terrorists, and we all expect Holder and Napolitano to start investigating all of his associates...right?

I have noticed that every man standing behind the counter at the (usually very busy) gun shop I frequent is carrying. I mentioned to one guy that I had ordered a genuine khukri as a collectible from Nepal and he immediately pulled his out of a sheath at the back of his belt to show me. All I said was "cool!"

March on and try to shut down one of these completely legal and very secure (for good reason) places packed with fellows who hunt and in many if not most cases have military experience? Bad idea Jesse, very bad idea.

Jesse Jackson is both a tool, and an extortionist who should be in prison.

“As though all the urban gang bangers are getting their guns from legit gunshops.”

They will if Jesse leads mobs to smash the windows and loot the shops!

Jesse is trying to arm his army by overwhelming mob action. imho of course.

Problem is that a lot of perfectly fine young black men grow up listening to the racist tripe and class-war drivel that people like Jackson, Farrakan, and Sharpton vomit up.
These so-called leaders do more to hurt young men than any normal growing-up challenges. And the pi$$er is that these clowns get rich and enjoy a cushy lifestyle and I’m sure, laugh at the pliability of the dupes they get support money from.

OK, so let me get this right in my mind...

A mob of people are going to march on "Gun stores"

OK, I can see that this is not going to end well....

Perhaps we can get him a "Darwin Award" runner up tee shirt

Oh yea, if someone can get a picture of his illegitimate daughter, that can be placed on the back.

The problem with self-declared group leaders, is that the media never asks for a membership list.

I am a woman.
Does that mean I have some requirement to publically protest against that lame organization NOW?
A group who does not speak for, or represent me in any way?

I'll bet you're right.

If Jesse wanted to get rid of guns that are a problem, he could walk into any inner city neighborhood and ask the criminals to give up their guns. I'm sure they'd go along if he asked sweetly...

Go ahead and march on the gunshops you damn fool. But come marching on my house and you’ll be liable to encounter a much different reception, and be wishing you hadn’t changed your route.
