Well, as I recall, we filled out some papers...most of the other kids didn’t know what tribe they were descended from or how to spell the tribes’ names. I helped with that. I’d gone to school with most of them for several years and considered them to be about half bright, so I never had anything to do with the program again. My impressions were that we were being groomed for “special treatment.”

Well, even as a kid, I never cottoned to any kind of "Sonderbehandlung," and would have been sorely tempted to ask the school officials according to what criteria ("high cheekbones," anyone?) the administration had selected me for such a "debriefing."

And as far as coming from different nations or tribes: Wouldn't the children of a particular school district probably all hail from the same nearby tribes?
