Coca-Cola workers now striking against Stop & Shop
WFSB ^

An ongoing strike at the Coca-Cola bottling facility in East Hartford is now extending its grip to Stop & Shop supermarkets.

Workers said they plan to picket the supermarkets because they said they usually stock Coca-Cola products on store shelves.

But picketing workers said that Stop & Shop employees are now doing the jobs of the workers on strike.

They are asking other unionized workers to not deliver to the supermarket chain.

Coca-Cola workers went on strike two weeks ago after co0ntract negotiations broke down.

What a great reason to go on strike, because the store is stocking their own shelves thereby cutting their work load, which in effect will mean Coke will need less drivers.

“”They are asking other unionized workers to not deliver to the supermarket chain””

The supermarkets can get their own trucks to pick it up at the warehouse, problem solved.

Actually, they were already on strike against the bottler, the market just dared to stock their own shelves from the deliveries made from other sources. After all, only a unionized driver should be picking up those bottles and putting them on the shelf.

Fire the lot, put out a help wanted sign, watch the line form around the block, with at least a third of them being former union employees.

No, Stop&Shop is a unionized grocery store with relatively high pay.

Stop & Shop is a unionized store. I was in one yesterday and Coca Cola employees were stocking shelves. I’m assuming they were temp workers.

It’s amazing how many people stocking shelves in the big stores work for outside vendors.

In unrelated news Eric Holder today announced plans to investigate Stop & Shop supermarkets for unfair business practices. [/sarc]

Bakery, dairy, beverages, and such are usually managed by the vendors, since that stuff moves quickly and the vendors are in the store every day anyhow.

Supposedly, labor unions came into being to stop abuse of employees by “greedy employers”.

Now the labor unions have become the greedheads and abusers.

What goes around comes around - their greed and excesses will be their downfall.

It has already begun.
They are about to get their donkeys kicked in Wisconsin next Tuesday.

Translation: “Stop & Shop workers are exposing the fact that we are more or less unnecessary, as our jobs get done, with little fuss, even while we are on strike.”

Note to self: Go to Stop & Shop this weekend to stock up on Coca Cola products.
