President Barack Obama "misspoke" when he called a Nazi facility used to process Jews for execution as a "Polish death camp," a White House official told the news agency AFP.
The verbal gaffe came as the president was honoring to a famous Pole, Jan Karski, posthumously awarding him a Presidential Medal of Freedom, the country's highest civilian award.
Karski was a resistance fighter who sneaked behind enemy lines to witness the atrocities being committed against Jews. Obama referred to him being smuggled "into the Warsaw ghetto and a Polish death camp to see for himself," ABC OTUS News reported.
National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor, told AFP that the president "misspoke."
"He was referring to Nazi death camps in Poland," Vietor said in the article. "We regret this misstatement, which should not detract from the clear intention to honor Mr. Karski and those brave citizens who stood on the side of human dignity in the face of tyranny."

Misspoke? You know damn well that Obama read it right off the Teleprompter.
To misspeak, one must be speaking. He did not misspeak. He was reading. He read what was written. He wasn’t smart enough or fast enough to catch the glaring mistake.
It was clear what the President was talking about, and that the Polish resistance fighter was the hero there, and deserves to be known as such.

The printed gaffe came as the writer was honoring to a famous Kenyan, Barack Obama.
I think he is confused because while we were allies with the USSR, which Obama would consider a good thing, we were allied against the (antisemitic) Nazis, which cause Obama inner turmoil.

Obama reads all his speeches from a teleprompter and while he should have known better it makes you wonder what kind of incompetent idiots are writing this stuff for him.
He was not speaking contemporaneously. The author who wrote the lines he dutifully read didn’t know any better, and there is no way Obama would know. He’s as likely to know that the Nazis ran those death camps as he is to know that the number of US states, that Austrians don’t speak Austrian, or how to pronounce the word “corp.” He’s a dunderhead.

Actually, by making the error that was made (writer likely to be fired, Obama too ignorant to process what he was reading) adds a good deal of publicity to this story, that otherwise would have simply faded away. I do not think anyone believes the error detracts from the actions of the Polish patriot.
