Temple Israel in Miami, Fla., canceled an upcoming speech by Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz on Thursday. Temple officials canceled the affair after a prominent Republican donor left the congregation in protest. According to Erika Bolstad of McClatchy Newspapers, the donor was 81-year-old philanthropist Stanley Tate, who has ties to the Romney campaign.

I agree with you on all points. It would seem a religious sanctuary is a place for God, not politicians of ANY flavor.

Funny thing, most of the Conservative Jews I know are pretty liberal. The Orthodox are usually more conservative. And the Reformed, God Bless them, are pretty radical!
It's not been very often that a Jewish organization, especially a Reform (?) one, hasn't acquiesced to the wishes of a powerful Jewish Democrat. Hopefully, this is a signal of a rejection of the leftist Obama policies within the Jewish community and will be a portent of a significant movement of the Jewish vote in Florida (and other battleground states); toward the GOP in November.

I wish I shared your optimism, but because one non-commie (actually a true American in the historical sense) in a Reform Jewish “temple” invokes the Golden Rule (he who has the gold ...) is almost certainly no reason to assume the Jewish devotion to things collectivist is actually coming to an end.
My father was probably the only Republican Jew in Tampa when I was growing up. The Miami Jewish population had a few, but they were people like Robert Russel and others who had understood the essential aspects of America sufficiently to become financially successful in business.
I note with regret that most Jews with some financial success are in professions either directly part of the government or are professionals hired by government.
Lawyers are, of course, part of what I would dub “government”.
With so many involved with government, it is little wonder they see government as, in its essence good, and want more of it.
To support, let alone profit from, government acting outside the strict limits defined by the Founders is, arguably, treason.

Though what you say is true to a certain extent, you are exaggerating a bit, GladesGuru.
I know of a Jewish lawyer who is a constitutionalist, Republican, and member of the Federalist Society who litigates cases against government in an earnest effort to vindicate the constitutional rights of his clients. Challenging government in the courtroom, though not always successful, is preferable to supporting government tyranny schemes or doing nothing to stop them.
Certainly Jewish doctors as a whole are not working with government and by and large oppose ObamaCare and similar socialist medicine schemes.

Invoking the "Golden Rule" in this instance is to to be applauded. We need more Jews - and more non-Jews - to invoke the "Golden Rule" against the left and their propagandists like Wasserman-Schultz. Too many well-to-do folks either sit on their hands or even financially support the destruction of the very society which enabled them to gain their wealth in the first place.
I would agree that there are a handful of Jews who support the Constitution, but most are collectivists at heart.
Regarding physicians, a physician of any faith voting Democrap is akin to a chicken supporting Col. Sanders.

Forgiveness under Mosaic Law has three requirements.
1. Restitution must be offered.
2. A public apology must be made.
3. The apology must be sincere.
Now for what the above three requirements really are. Restitution was not just give back the cow. You return five cows. Rustling didn’t pay, back then.
The apology was a most interesting situation, in that the restitution and apology could be refused. Then the restitution and sincere, public apology had to be again offered. The refusal could be repeated.
Then restitution and the sincere apology had to be again offered.
At that point the restitution and the sincere public apology had to be accepted or the sin was on the person refusing the restitution and the sincere, public apology.
Why was this so? To prevent long term disputes/feuds.
However, what restitution can be made in the case of treason? What restitution can be made for years of life laid waste by the theft/treason?
