Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney has now secured at least 88 of the 155 delegates at stake in the Texas Primary, bringing his secured delegate total to 1174, 30 more than necessary to win the majority of the delegated needed for the GOP nomination.

With 4% of Texas precincts now reporting, Romney has consistently maintained or increased a 60 point lead over his nearest competitor, Congressman Ron Paul.

In the contested race for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate, David Dewhurst is holding a 48% to 31% lead over his nearest rival Ted Cruz in a nine person contest.

Now is the time to quit this childlike bull crap and get behind Romney.

Yeah, because he really, really, really, is severely conservative .. (puke)

Listen...if you're so scared of Obama that you see no other alternative but to sell your conservative principles down the toilet for his virtual twin, then AT LEAST announce that you're doing it for pragmatic reasons.

Geeez.....

Those of us that are conservative didn’t vote for the fool in the primary. Nor will many of us in the general election. He was elected by the GOPe. He is their candidate.

Except for lower offices, like the House and Senate...this election is over for true conservatives. Romney doesn’t nor will ever represent us or our values. It is the acme of foolishness to think otherwise.

Turnout was truly pitiful all around.

Especially for the Dems.

After voting, I walked next door and peeked my head into the Dem voting area, and there was only one dirty hippie looking trashbag talking to the Dem election workers.

Meanwhile, the Republican voting room was busy as beavers. There also weren't any Dem campaign workers outside my polling place, but there must have been at least half a dozen of our folks handing out literature and so-forth outside.

One soul was a dem when I voted at 4:00 PM with milder afternoon traffic. Took hubby at 5:30 and it was packed, but I waited in the car and read FR.

Dailly Caller reports a low turn out helped Cruz and was expected since the vote was a month late, followed a holiday weekend and marginal voters were too pooped from the weekend, but you know us conservatives, WE turn out no matter what!

Congrats Mr. Romney. Now....act like a warrior and go out and destroy Obama and his hate America Democrat Party politically for many years to come!

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little. At least pretend that you're only supporting Romney because he's the last Republican standing. The cheer leading is embarrassing, to say the least.

No -- he's been running those negative ads for at least a week now (at least that's when I really noticed them). Still - that close to election day, is pretty much the cusp.

Well he rolled back welfare.

Geez......do you have battered wife syndrome or something?

Mitt Romney’s Dismal Record

"As U.S. real output grew 13 percent between 2002 and 2006, Massachusetts trailed at 9 percent.

* Manufacturing employment fell 7 percent nationwide those years, but sank 14 percent under Romney, placing Massachusetts 48th among the states.

* Between fall 2003 and autumn 2006, U.S. job growth averaged 5.4 percent, nearly three times Massachusetts' anemic 1.9 percent pace.

* While 8 million Americans over age 16 found work between 2002 and 2006, the number of employed Massachusetts residents actually declined by 8,500 during those years.

"Massachusetts was the only state to have failed to post any gain in its pool of employed residents," professors Sum and McLaughlin concluded.

In an April 2003 meeting with the Massachusetts congressional delegation in Washington, Romney failed to endorse President Bush's $726 billion tax-cut proposal."

[Cato Institute annual Fiscal Policy Report Card - America's Governors, 2004.]

Romney's "accomplishments".

1. Implemented/created Gay Marriage in MA

2. Supported and forced Gay Adoption in MA

3. Supported Abortion wholeheartedly

4. Raised taxes/fees over 300% while being Governor of MA

5. Implemented a state-level Cap and Trade system.

6. Supported Man-Made Global Warming

7. Supported the Brady Bill

8. Implemented a state level “Assault” Weapons Ban after the Federal AWB was allowed to expire.

9. Supported TARP

10. Supported Amnesty for Illegal Aliens (Citizenship for those already here)

11. Supported McCain-Kennedy (Amnesty)

12. Implemented a socialized medicine in MA called RomneyCare complete with an Individual Mandate and $50 abortions.

13. Nominated 27 Democrats (out of 36 nominations) for judgeships in MA, many of them extreme left-wingers.

Overall turn out was light but it was nonexistent for the Dems.

I predict the same for the General election.

I am truly shocked. Haven’t seen one of those ads at all myself, but heard about the thing running early on in the campaign in Houston, causing a stir.

Read later what a crock looked like was defined by that stupid ad. It was shot down easy. Thought it went away.

Astounding Cruz did so well with that thing still running, but the word was gotten out that it was a boat load.

Thanks, Wf.

My Loyalist ancestors were not cowards...

Sorry for what happened to your ancestors, but they were on the wrong side. If you don't believe that, then you're on the wrong forum.

This is Free Republic, not the Loyalist Democracy.

Yep. Dewhurst ran those ads on talk radio round the clock for the last week or two. That's where I heard them. I just laughed, but I knew that other, less well-informed conservatives, would likely take the bait.

Glad you saw through the crap from the outset. The man's as big an establishment weasel as Romney is.

It is disgusting, and I see RINO judges all over the country.

When they came with the handshake picture of “we are all socialists now”, I was like, nah, not me, screw you all. I can play my part and pretend, but I am NEVER EVER going to be a socialist me me me loser, who replaces justice with some kind of judge who thinks he is entitled to his job without consequences, because it is some kind of union bureaucratic position and he deserves it just like that.

This is where all this term limit and tenuring this and that comes from. This is like college bull crap.

This is communism, where somehow each one’s position is “respected” and tenured regardless, the people supposedly having a place as part of government, like when they gave peasants and workers their place.

“Oh, so, now, I am a murderer, that’s my job too, because I am a prowler and I am supposed to be gay or abort, I guess.”

Everything is like pre-assigned? Are these people mad?

Hey, if they can indulge, so can I, except I will know it is stupid while they will claim it is not, because they are narcissists. I do not care about these people, not one iota. I do not believe any of them, they are all crazy.

I am not embracing the mental state of stupidity of the governmentoid, no, we are not all socialists, you are all stupid, is my answer. What honor is there in such system. I know nothing is perfect, but perfecting the imperfect like that is completely stupider than ever, and the utmost in hypocrisy.

Cruz did have a lot of publicity at least in my circles, over Dewhurst, whom I believe probably expected more of a coronation and therefore perhaps wasn’t compelled to spend on exposure until late.

Perhaps Sarah’s endorsement flushed Dewhurst out after all?

No doubt in my mind that it did. I wasn't even aware that Dewhurst was running, until after Sarah had endorsed Ted Cruz. Once she did, the big guns came out, and all hell broke loose on the airwaves about every sort of dirt against Cruz.

I read it as a reaction, and because of that, it had to be coming from the establishment wing of the Republican party.

Cruz built bridges to the people over the last year, the old fashioned way. He's been out there meeting with Tea Party groups and other concerned citizens for the past twelve months. The man's burnt the shoe leather the hard way. He's earned the endorsements of a host of respectable groups and individuals who stand for our conservative American principles.

Dewhurst? Not so much. All I've heard from this guy are attack ads, which makes him whale shit, as far as I'm concerned.
