Veterans Give Romney Big Lead Over Obama (58% to 34%)
Gallup ^ | 05/27/2012 | Frank Newport

PRINCETON, NJ -- U.S. veterans, about 13% of the adult population and consisting mostly of older men, support Mitt Romney over Barack Obama for president by 58% to 34%, while nonveterans give Obama a four-percentage-point edge.

Vote Preferences by Veteran Status, April-May 2012

These data, from an analysis of Gallup Daily tracking interviews conducted April 11-May 24, show that 24% of all adult men are veterans, compared with 2% of adult women.

Obama and Romney are tied overall at 46% apiece among all registered voters in this sample. Men give Romney an eight-point edge, while women opt for Obama over Romney by seven points. It turns out that the male skew for Romney is driven almost entirely by veterans. Romney leads by one point among nonveteran men, contrasted with the 28-point edge Romney receives among male veterans.

Vote Preferences by Gender and Veteran Status, April-May 2012

The small percentage of female veterans in the U.S., in contrast to their male counterparts, do not differ significantly in their presidential vote choice from the vast majority of women who are not veterans.

The proportion of U.S. men who are armed forces veterans rises dramatically among those who are 60 and older. The military draft was in force in the U.S. from shortly before the U.S. entry into World War II until the early 1970s. A majority of men now 70 to 89 served in the military, including almost three-quarters of those aged 80 to 89. Less than a fifth of men younger than 50 have served in the military. There is little variation in military service among women across these age groups.

The first thing that I did when my husband died was to take his death certificate down to the election commission and demand that his name be removed from the rolls.

Vets instinctively act to protect our nation from all evil, but especially from Marxists and Radical Mooslims.

I can't think of any average friends, folks whose families have been in America for awhile, who don't have family members who've been in the military. Can you? It's quite an oddball thing to have been in America for three generations and not have a single brother, kid, father, grandpa, uncle, somebody, who was in the military.

ABO -- The most dangerous, worst, and deceitful part is that we in the present understand perfectly that a majority of Romney's "support" is imaginary, that the biggest and only thing he's got going for him is that he's not Obama. WE know that in America right now.

It would be forgotten ten minutes into 2013 -- it's human nature. ABO is a stupid strategy and is walking conservatives and Republicans right into a trap of total statist stronghold. People can look it up: Romney's entire record is of an active advocate for five MAJOR issues I have with dogged devotion been voting Republican to stand against. Not a few issues, not some minor points of difference, but THE five MAJOR ISSUES Romney would be fully liberal in office.

All you ABO people, you plan to vote for Romney because you're scared crapless of Obama. Fine, I get that. But I have looked at Romney. You are only looking at Obama as you are racing away from him. HELLO: no matter how you spin it if you vote FOR Romney you will be voting FOR, you will be telling America and the world that you as a Republican are perfecly OK with: state-run health care, on-demand abortion, embrace of the environmentalist agenda to control energy and food production and consumption, forced acceptance of the gay agenda, and as icing on the cake, you will be electing a guy with a RECORD of appointing liberal activist judges by a margin of about three to one. YOU CAN LOOK IT UP.

Romney is a BIG MISTAKE. We must attack Romney as we attack Obama. The only way we can win this is if we stand and fight.

Thinking that it will all sort itself out after Obama was out of office is naive considering Romney's established skill at hardball ruthless politicking with zero honor, elected by conservatives and Republicans to grow government as he has always done.

I did not chime in here to see how many believe in what romney is pushing....

I chimed in to see how many will vote for a socialist/communist just because he has an R after his name...

This will tell me how many traitors to the republic are cruising this site..

a vote for romney is a vote for socialism..

a vote for socialism is a vote against the constitution..

if you are willing to support romney, you are willing to support socialism..

that makes you an enemy of the republic...

are you part of the 85% that during the revolutionary war did not give a damn about freedom for the colonies?

or are you part of the 15% that gave us this country?

see my tagline to discover where I am...

34% of veterans are just plain stupid. There’s no helping them now. If they still don’t see what’s happening they never will.

The other 34% are probably related to Leonard Lawrence and the wacko who played him.

Even among Vets there are still about one-third democrat base types. Across the board that’s the part of the population that thinks the dems are the best choice to help them get something from government. Got ‘em in my own family. Even tho I know this it still amazes me when I see big bidness types holding fun-raisers for dems. At best, these guys ride the fence supporting both sides but it’s always about the money. Shouldn’t be but it’s the only way to understand even legitimate polls.

You’re just an optimist, Joe, I’m not sure there are 15% of us who work for solid, fundamental, long-term-stable gov’t. I never believed we could get this wheel-less marxist wagon turned around in one election and that is the reason I will keep hammering Romney to help force him into the straight and narrow. I still remember Falwell and Robertson and the “silent majority” they put together to help get Reagan elected. They thot their job was done as soon as the election was over. But that movement left a lot of corrupt detritus in congress. There is no one election that will put the brakes on our slide. But the time for hand-sitting is over if we are to preserve the gift of our founders.

It sickens me to my core that veterans could vote for a scum like Obama. They have to be dead beats that got out mad at the USA. They cannot be true blue Patriots.
