Hecklers Mar Romney Visit to Inner-City Charter School in Phila. ("get out" of black neighborhood
The Washington Post ^ | Thursday, May 24, 2012 | Philip Rucker

When Mitt Romney came to an inner-city charter school here Thursday to promote his new education agenda, he received something of a history lecture about the persecution of blacks in America and the struggles of African American children to meet the academic achievements of their white counterparts.

Seeking to broaden his appeal heading into the general election, Romney was venturing for his first time in this campaign into an impoverished black neighborhood to hear the concerns of local educators and community leaders. But here in the streets of West Philadelphia, the emotion surrounding his contest with the nation’s first black president was raw, as dozens of neighborhood residents shouted, “Get out, Romney, get out!”

Outside, meanwhile, some brick row houses across from the school were boarded up. Police had cordoned off a full city block to protect Romney and his entourage. Residents, some of them organized by Obama’s campaign, stood on their porches and gathered at a sidewalk corner to shout angrily at Romney. Some held signs saying, “We are the 99%.” One man’s placard trumpeted an often-referenced Romney gaffe: “I am not concerned about the very poor.”

Madaline G. Dunn, 78, who said she has lived here for 50 years and volunteers at the school, said she is “personally offended” that Romney would visit her neighborhood.

“It’s not appreciated here,” she said. “It is absolutely denigrating for him to come in here and speak his garbage.”

When he visited a classroom where the kids in the elementary school choir were standing, swaying and clapping to the beat of Kirk Franklin’s “I Smile,” Romney appeared charmed but did not dance with them. Rather, he tapped one of his toes slightly and bobbed his head, but did not catch the rhythm..

Well put. There are two ways of human existence: To provide for yourself through your earnings or take from others. The DemonRATs have provided a mechanism to take from others. The Entitlement Culture is engaged in the self-perpetuating of that mechanism, like a parasite to a host.

As a side note, the 10 Commandments was a code of values to minimize the growth of the parasitic Entitlement Culture.

I grew up in North Philly...graduated from the “University of Last White Kid Left on the Block”.

They’re racist as all hell there, and Romney isn’t going to win any votes. They vote skin color first.

But hey...we’re the racists, right....

Romney has balls. He told those folks the problem and they did not like it one bit. They did not like it when Bill Cosby told them the truth either. Hating whitey ain’t gonna put the black family back together again. The Great Society turned the black family asunder and now rather than hate the liberal mindset that did that they hate on Romney and demand ever more liberalism. It will never change sad to say. Obama could have made an attempt to change it buthe prefers to blame successful Americans rather than his failed ideology.

What a damn mess.

When I think of black folk and Obama, the song “Hopelessly Devoted to You”, by Olivia Newton John, comes to mind.

What ever happened to Liberia? Why weren't her parents sent there? Is it too late?

INNER CITY TRASH. They act like this then wonder why people are tempted to use the “N” word in describing them. Because they act like a “N”. No respect. Absolutely no respect for a candidate for President of the United States.

But then, this was where the Black Panthers intimidated White voters.

The GOP did a super job in the South following the Civil War until the Southern Democrats threatened to filibuster the counting of electoral votes after the 1876 presidential election in which the Republican Hayes had more electoral votes than the Democrat Tilden who apparently had more popular votes. Then they agreed not to filibuster if the North agreed to move the Union troops out of the South, whereupon the Southern Democrats took over everything they had held prior to the war and basically Jim Crowed all the black Republicans out of office. The Republican governments of Florida, South Carolina, and Louisiana fell apart and the blacks were pulled back onto the plantation where they've remained electoral captives ever since.

“He should take their advice: Get the hell out.”

Yup. Definitely a message being sent here, with important lessons to be learned. Republicans in general, and FR members here, would be wise to take heed...”

Yes sir! Mr. Romney; take their advice and the money too. Let them forage and grovel for themselves for a real change.
These imbeciles forget that crap can work both ways...
I’m definitely no fan of Romney, but I think he was sincerely offering an opportunity to listen and maybe help bring solutions. Instead, I think he and his handlers got “an education” that they hadn’t planned on. I hope its and education that Mr. Romney doesn’t soon forget.
On the other hand, I wouldn’t walk across the street to listen to a single word spoken by the great odongo. I’d just turn my back and go the other way. The reasons I wouldn’t shut obscene crap at him is: 1. I still respect the office of the POTUS. 2. I really don’t care to become “intimate” with the men in black. He ain’t worth either one.

I agree. This is a great way to expose this freeloader trash for what it is. Romney should visit some black neighborhood at least once a week just to wake white America up.

What really pisses me off is that this reaction was partly organized by the Obama campaign. The punk-ass president and his lackies are extremely dangerous. I expect things to get even uglier.

On another note, Trayvon Martin's parents visited that bastion of Democratic party values, East St Louis, in their heralded cross country End the Gun Violence Tour. They were warmly received that night by two murders and three other gruesome shootings in East St Louis. No one seemed to have been personally offended though.

I'm personally offended that this 78 year old ghetto slug has the nerve to lecture anyone that is trying to help her neighborhood.
