When Mitt Romney came to an inner-city charter school here Thursday to promote his new education agenda, he received something of a history lecture about the persecution of blacks in America and the struggles of African American children to meet the academic achievements of their white counterparts.
Seeking to broaden his appeal heading into the general election, Romney was venturing for his first time in this campaign into an impoverished black neighborhood to hear the concerns of local educators and community leaders. But here in the streets of West Philadelphia, the emotion surrounding his contest with the nation’s first black president was raw, as dozens of neighborhood residents shouted, “Get out, Romney, get out!”

Outside, meanwhile, some brick row houses across from the school were boarded up. Police had cordoned off a full city block to protect Romney and his entourage. Residents, some of them organized by Obama’s campaign, stood on their porches and gathered at a sidewalk corner to shout angrily at Romney. Some held signs saying, “We are the 99%.” One man’s placard trumpeted an often-referenced Romney gaffe: “I am not concerned about the very poor.”
Madaline G. Dunn, 78, who said she has lived here for 50 years and volunteers at the school, said she is “personally offended” that Romney would visit her neighborhood.
“It’s not appreciated here,” she said. “It is absolutely denigrating for him to come in here and speak his garbage.”

When he visited a classroom where the kids in the elementary school choir were standing, swaying and clapping to the beat of Kirk Franklin’s “I Smile,” Romney appeared charmed but did not dance with them. Rather, he tapped one of his toes slightly and bobbed his head, but did not catch the rhythm..

When the Republicans freed the blacks after four years of bloodletting it appears the freed blacks grabbed their shackles and refused to leave massa.
One hundred and forty seven years later....They still cling to their shackles and worship at the feet of their democratic massa.

Yep, we are supposed to be upset about the legacy of slavery and Jim Crow and all that.
Yep, that’s why today’s young black students have such poor achievement in school. It’s because of slavery and discrimination.
And all of the negative effects of ghetto culture are due to racism. The whole baby mama culture sprang up as a reaction to discrimination.
Roving youth gangs in the ghetto are there because of racism. People in the ghetto are grappling with poverty due to discrimination and racism. The man will keep them down.....................
And, the bottom line with these inner city schools is that we just don’t spend enough money on these schools, right??????
And why don’t we talk about reparations for slavery? We can’t expect these young people to do well in school, when their distant ancestors were slaves. We have to understand that young black men go into the gangs because there are no jobs. We have to understand that the baby mamas are grappling with poverty and struggling to survive on a limited budget. Their baby daddy’s can’t get a job because the man keeps them down. Racist prosecutors put too many young black men in prison.............

Screaming mindlessly at the someone who`s looking to bring solutions, rather than pouring $$$ down the status quo rathole. Evidence some additional mental development is in order for some “members” of society.
Much as I`d like to denigrate them, instead I kind of pity them. They`re following orders to believe and act that way. They have no discernible ability to think critically or gain understanding beyond screaming, howling and grunting on cue.
Get out, and take Federal money with you. They can sink or swim on their own.

I wonder how Ms. Dunn would react if hers was the greeting extended to the first black family in the neighborhood she speaks of...
Well, the liberal view is that America hasn’t given up on racism. They say that the paradox is, that while a black man can be elected president, that a black man can’t walk down a street, hinting at Trayvon Martin.
So, to the liberals/black activists, even electing a black president means nothing, in terms of race relations, equal opportunity, or any of those issues.
Oh, you mean like Racism....
Why is he wasting time campaigning in Obama’ wheelhouse? No need to pander to this constituency.Dems will always win at the game of pandering to this federal funds dependent constituency. Ignore them and concentrate on the rest of America.
It’s a no win situation. If he didn’t visit places like this, he would be called a racist for ignoring black voters.
Agree it’s proof that some people can’t be pleased no matter what.
They are the same people who can’t sleep at night unless they have caused misery on others.
Some hate them selves and blame others for failure.
How many were bussed in?
