Americans choose to take to the roads for va- cations and to visit friends and family on Memorial Day. Often, they’ll bring their firearms with them for sport or personal protection, and it’s perfectly legal under federal law. This gets under the skin of a handful of anti-gun jurisdictions that have grown so out of control that they’ll jail an active-duty Afghanistan veteran who’s following the letter of the law. A growing, bipartisan movement in Congress is looking to stop the harassment.
Rep. H. Morgan Griffith, Virginia Republican, has sponsored legislation that would amend current law to make it clear that individuals who transport their guns from state to state may stop for food, gas and vehicle maintenance. They also may seek medical treatment, tend to an emergency, stay overnight and conduct other activities incidental to the transport.
These things are legal already, but because the law does not spell it out in explicit detail, gun-grabbing areas take advantage of the ambiguity. Mr. Griffith’s language would force states and localities to pay the attorney bills for anyone who is arrested for illegal transport if they are exonerated based on this proposed law.
“The beauty of this is that the fear of having to pay the legal fees will make sure they bring charges that are valid and founded,” explained Mr. Griffith, a former defense attorney. “It only has to happen one time, and every risk-assessment manager in the United States of America is going to inform their police that you better make sure he’s violated the law before you arrest him for having a locked gun in a case in the trunk, because that’s going to cost them a lot of money.”

The key to liberty is the school system. We’ve turned our children over to America-hating liberals. Grab any kid in the top 5% of his HS class and ask him about the 2nd Amendment. You’ll find a brainwashed imbecile who’ll become the nations elite.
When I was in junior high school in rural Virginia 30 years ago, the state Fish and Game people came in and gave a gun hunting safety seminar, showing us how to handle rifles and shotguns safely while hunting (not that most of us didn’t know that already!). Later that same year, the National Guard came to visit and we all got to go out in the parking lot and climb all over some vehicles and handle M16s and M1911s (empty of course). For ninth-graders, that was pretty cool. Can you imagine a school doing either of those today?

More total lunacy and outrage from the government. FTA -”Originally booked on four felonies, Lt. Kim accepted one misdemeanor count of possessing an unregistered firearm as part of a plea deal. That charge was dropped nine months later.” So this was another of the endless examples of the government wasting people’s time and money.
What good is a gun that is in a locked case and in the locked trunk of your car when you are traveling on the highways and a threat arises?

As we reported last week, every gun owner concerned about the future of our Right to Keep and Bear Arms should be aware that the United Nations and the global gun eradication movement are attempting to eliminate our Second Amendment freedoms by drafting a U.N. Arms Trade Treaty. This treaty would cover tanks, helicopters, and other heavy weapons but could also include civilian rifles, shotguns and handguns. The treaty’s language will be finalized by the U.N. this July during a four week conference.
In an attempt to thwart this serious threat to our sovereign rights and freedoms, earlier this year, Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kans.) introduced S. 2205—the “Second Amendment Sovereignty Act.” S. 2205 would prohibit the Administration from using “the voice, vote, and influence of the United States, in connection with negotiations for a United Nations Arms Trade Treaty, to restrict in any way the rights of United States citizens under the second amendment to the Constitution of the United States, or to otherwise regulate domestic manufacture, assembly, possession, use, transfer, or purchase of firearms, ammunition, or related items, including small arms, light weapons, or related materials.”

When we do hit the wilds, we are armed for the wilds. No one will convince us to do otherwise.
Truckers are some of my favorite customers. The long haul guys tell me that a shotgun is the only form of firearm that is legal to have in every state, county, city, including NYC, etc. So I always keep a few shorties, 12 ga, 18’barrels, big mag pumps, just for them. Odds are, if you PO a trucker, you’ll get to see his muzzle, whatever state you’re in.
Like any situation that involves being pulled over and searched? It’s extremely rare and only happens to .0000001 percent of the “law abiding” traveler.
I pack a loaded shotgun and a 9mm ruger with 2 full clips. The odds of having a dirtbag assault my family far outweigh the odds of having my legal vehicle searched by some left wing idiot.

let me get this straight.....can’t someone drive across country with a gun?....I’m going on a big trip, alone, and I need my “friend” with me...
We’re driving to Canada later this year to visit one of our daughters. I think it’s true that you cannot cross into Canada with a gun of any sort.
I will be leaving mine in SD with a friend—but I hate the thought of being unarmed...........
This came to me by email, and it wasn’t sourced, but I’ll put it here to give everyone something to think about:
WHAT IF THE FIGHT STARTS NOW?
Most folks go through life unaware of potential dangers. The likelihood that one might be mugged, brutalized, broken into at home, or have the bad luck to be in the convenience store at the exact time it is being robbed might statistically be low, BUT it can happen. It happens all the time.
I attended a self-defense class at TAC PRO in Mingus, TX about a year ago. On the first day, the Instructor issued a challenge to the students. He asked that each student start asking the question “What if the fight starts now?” Sitting in the classroom, eating lunch at a local restaurant, in the grocery store, bank, etc…..it made no difference. The idea was that we need to train ourselves to be aware of our surroundings and what we would do “if the fight starts now”.
The what-if-the-fight-starts-now exercise can be done anytime. If one has a partner that will participate, the exercise will be enhanced just because two heads are better than one. My husband and I frequently throw the question at the other as we go about our day, whether we are driving, eating out, shopping, or at home watching TV. The resulting discussions improve situational awareness, and enhance opportunities for a positive outcome in a negative encounter. We plan for dealing with threats prior to those threats being presented (considering escape routes, avoidance, defensive options, etc), and our decisions will be better having thought about various scenarios and options as opposed to traipsing through life in la-la land.
I have no idea where you are right now reading this, but my question to you is what would you do “if the fight starts now”?
well......I can see tanks in the school parking lot to arrest I kid who drew a picture of a tank.
