CIUDAD VICTORIA, Mexico (AP) — Suspected drug cartel gunmen opened fire on a hotel being used as a police barracks then attacked it with a car bomb Thursday, wounding eight officers less than 4 miles (6.5 kilometers) from the U.S. border, Mexican officials said.

A Tamaulipas state official said authorities believed the Zetas cartel, one of Mexico's two most powerful criminal organizations, carried out the attack on the Hotel Santa Cecilia in Nuevo Laredo, a city across the border from Laredo, Texas.

The Zetas, founded by Mexican special forces defectors, have carried out a number of sophisticated attacks, but Thursday's assault appeared to be one of the most elaborate. It also appeared to be the first attack directed against Tamaulipas' new state police force, which took over a year ago from a municipal police force in Nuevo Laredo that was accused of ineffectiveness and corruption.

Let’s see...

We probably have undercover agents on both ‘gangs’. We supply weapons to at least one if not both sides.

So... how do we determine ‘who’ is winning?

OK, that is interesting.

I was keeping track of the wave of car bombings on the mexican border a little over a year ago. There was commentary in the MSM about how they were identical to ME car bombings. There were about four or perhaps five in a row. They started right out of the blue, then they stopped like flipping a switch.

Looking at the photos, http://www.valleycentral.com/news/story.aspx?id=758095#.T8BPaDkzauI this one does not appear to be the “professional” level seen in the attacks from over a year ago.

This is somebody new, an amateur.

I'm not aware of any car bombings in Maine.

“Al Capone’s great grand children” this isn’t, not in the slightest. The cop-out that this is just like prohibition is like Obama claiming he is still cleaning up Bush’s messes. Neither things are related in the slightest.

The South American Cartel Armies are thousands of times larger and infinitely more ruthless and evil compared to the prohibition era mobsters. Even the mobsters had some rules and scruples and could be reckoned with.

There is no reckoning with these Cartel Armies, no rules and no scruples. They murder everyone (pregnant women, children, cops, military, politicians, etc) at will in the most gruesome ways, many being tortured first.

The Drug War is at our border, and I say “War” because these Cartel Armies are at military style War. It isn’t a “mob war” either. It’s a full on War of them against everyone who isn’t with them. To think that War won’t cross the border.....that’s having blinders on to the world.

Really?

Not even the odd Chevy Volt bursting into flames?

I would have sworn, for sure... at least a volt or two...

Is it time to declare economic WAR against the Prohibited drug business?

We have no control over demand. We do on supply.

We need to work with the FUNCTIONING tools we have, instead of incarcerating citizens. Legalize, overload the supply and cut off their funds!
