Obama loses more than 40 percent of Kentucky primary voters to ‘uncommitted’ option
The Washington Post ^ | 05/22/12 | Aaron Blake

President Obama lost more than 40 percent of the vote in Tuesday’s Kentucky Democratic primary to the “uncommitted” option — the latest example of the incumbent president failing to win votes in an uncompetitive primary.

With 99 percent of precincts reporting in the Bluegrass State, Obama led “uncommitted” just 58 percent to 42 percent. Obama trailed in more than 60 Kentucky counties.

It was just the latest episode of the president taking less than 60 percent of the vote in a primary this year.

He ceded 41 percent of the vote in West Virginia to an incarcerated man in Texas named Keith Judd, and in Oklahoma, Obama lost several counties and won just 57 percent of the vote.

Kentucky’s vote was notable, though, for the fact that there weren’t even any other candidates on the ballot. The most the “uncommitted” option won so far this primary season was previously 21 percent in the North Carolina primary earlier this month. Kentucky looks as though it will double that number.

I may have to revise my opinion of Obama. Previously it’s been my thought that he could disembowel a live baby on television from the Oval Office, eat it’s entrails and still get 30% of the vote.

I’m thinking it’s probably more like 35%.

A sitting President doing this poorly against a political non-entity is not something I’ve seen before.

You have to go back to 1968 to the last time this happened. On March 12 of that year, Lyndon Johnson barely beat Eugene McCarthy by 49-42% in the NH primary. This poor showing by Johnson encouraged Robert Kennedy to throw his hat in the ring and shortly afterwards, Johnson, sensing his doom, dropped out of the race.

I got another chuckle about the dims whining about open primaries and blaming it all on GOP voters up to no good.

They're complaining about the GOP in Idaho going to a closed primary for the first time this year. They are saying that it disenfranchised voters! Turnout was at record highs.

Yep, don’t get giddy, but everywhere we can, tie the dimrat party to obama. He is their boy. He is their community agitating marxist. He is them and they are him.

Imagine if these KY or WV results had occured to a sitting republican president. The media would be ALL OVER THIS, but tomorrow there won’t be a peep.

"If a Democrat Governor or Senator had seriously challenged Obama for the nomination, he could have been in serious trouble by now."

With no challengers he is in what seems like serious trouble already. But, watch the media work it's magic!

good point JLA -- I want to see Obie not only defeated, but crushed, a total repudiation of his policies of divide, utter ignorance of what America stands for and attack on Christianity.

It ain't over until it is over and Obama wins 0 electoral seats (yes, I know it's close to impossible, but anything less tells me that we haven't done our job of convincing people of the evils of socialism)

“..Obama trailed in more than 60 Kentucky counties.”

There are 100 counties in KY. This will give Obama diarrhea.

You forgot about Bush vs Buchanan in NH during 1992. At least McCarthy was a senator. Buchanan was a political columnist, and he beat Bob Dole in NH in 1996.

I gotta ask.. If all these nobody’s are coming this close to beating Obama..

Why can’t Goode beat him?

He’s who I am voting for. You can twist yourself any way you’d like to justify voting for Romney if you’d like.
