Mitt Romney is vowing to approve TransCanada's Keystone XL pipeline on his first day on the job if elected U.S. president in November.
In a campaign ad unveiled on Friday, the presumptive Republican nominee asks voters to imagine Day 1 of his presidency, and lists Keystone as a top priority.
"Day One, President Romney immediately approves the Keystone pipeline, creating thousands of jobs that Obama blocked," the ad's narrator says.
Romney has been maligning U.S. President Barack Obama for months for failing to give the green light to Keystone. The president rejected the $7 billion pipeline earlier this year, but invited TransCanada Corp. to apply for another permit once the Calgary-based company rerouted the project around a crucial aquifer in Nebraska.
"I will build that pipeline if I have to myself," Romney said last month.
TransCanada recently came up with a new route for Keystone XL, one that skirts the Nebraska aquifer before joining up with the original proposed path of the pipeline.
Environmentalists say the new route continues to pose threats to Nebraska's drinking water since it still traverses the aquifer, only avoiding a portion of the state's Sandhills region where groundwater is close to the surface.
U.S. environmentalists have mounted a massive campaign against the pipeline, calling it a disaster waiting to happen and insisting it would sustain America's addiction to "dirty oil."
Keystone XL would transport oilsands crude from northern Alberta through six U.S. states to Gulf Coast refineries.
The debate over the pipeline became a political migraine for Obama. Keystone XL proponents said he was turning his back on much-needed American jobs by stalling on the Canadian pipeline, while environmentalists urged him to stand up to the oil industry as he promised to do while running for president in 2008.
The State Department will make the final decision on the pipeline because it crosses an international border.

When the section from Cushing, OK to Texas Gulf Coast area was broken out into a separate project, it no longer needed that approval.
Romney wont have control of the State Department yet on Day One.....
Interestingly, the authority from this approval goes back decades started by an executive order.
I believe another executive order to remove the approval process or force it approved.
You mean like Obama didn't/doesn't have control over the entities he bypassed via executive orders?

I haven't listened to Laura Ingraham in a long time, but happened to hear her interview two pastors. Both black; one right & one left. The left obviously will not vote for romney. The pastor on the right says romney will not get the religious black vote that Bush got because of his religion. Mormonism was anti-black & it's a cult. Apparently gop, rove, coulter, drudge.....wants to lose. Many Christians won't vote for him because of his lies.... and anti-christian actions during the primary...
Hopefully someone like Sarah or West or ??? will see what is going on and run third party, otherwise we're stuck with obama for 4 more years.

A directive to the EPA that CO2 is NOT a pollutant & may not be treated as one. Another directive to EPA that wetlands are designated by LOCAL, common sense, elected officials & the public, not by EPA zealots.

There was one day that Rush, in passing,
mentioned all the initiatives that Romney told him that he would pursue immediately in office.
They were all repeals of socialist policy.

I've reported most news I've found related to the Keystone XL pipeline.
I suspect Romney expects Obama to approve the recently modified project and hopes to take credit for putting pressure on Obama.
We seniors are finding fewer and fewer doctors to take Medicare and IF you happen to be Ret. Military over 65 on Tricare Life it is EVEN HARDER.
I will remind all that Medicare IS NOT FREE, each month we were taxed for it, and each month when we start drawing it, we pay a monthly premium, which is slated to keep rising in cost under 0'care.
GO AFTER THE FRAUD AND WASTE that includes politically well connected doctors and hospitals. Make it easy to report the fraud.
Those who served in the Military earned that right by serving for below civilian wages and often worked a second job to support their families. It was part of WHAT WAS PROMISED THEM! if they served 20 years at sub par pay and getting their butts shot at, killed, maimed etc. And Tricare Life is being gutted just as Medicare is being gutted.
Any congress critter or president who FAILS to keep faith with the Military, WON'T keep faith with YOU!
Do NOT forget Romney is a RINO Socialist, a quarter's difference in the Marxist we now have.
