Hundreds of managers and front line workers are due to attend conferences and workshops on equality and diversity this week.
Patients' groups criticised the spending at a time when services and jobs were under threat, as the NHS attempts to make £20 billion in efficiency savings.
The events include two all-day conferences involving at least 170 health care managers.
In addition, NHS Rotherham will host a week-long exhibition of "inspiring images" which promises to "celebrate the lives of transgender staff and patients".
And NHS North West is promoting an "awareness raising timeline" to commemorate homosexual and transgender doctors and nurses.

Supporting ideological art is one roundabout way for government bureaucracies to give financial support to outside groups that share common public policy goals.
While this outrage took place in the UK similar payoffs are done in the US. This should be an action item for Tea Party members- the left must be defunded at every possible opportunity, no matter how well buried in the budget they may be.

People who believe government will make wise decisions about medical care should think about whether spending money on “transgender awareness,” not to mention “sexual reassignment” surgeries, makes the average patient any healthier. They ought to think about money going for Viagra for felons in prison, too.
As the saying goes, “It’s not a bug: it’s a feature!” This is how a government medical system can be expected to work, every time.
I read the British papers on a semi-regualr basis and I watch Prime Minister’s Question Time on C-SPAN most weeks.As a result I have a better idea than do many Americans of what a disaster the British health system is.One of my favorites is this one...about their dental services (also run by the government).
