The new CBS/New York Times poll out last evening is, on the surface, the biggest disaster for the Barack Obama campaign at this point in the 2012 election.
Down overall? Check. Voters frustrated with the economy and how things are going? Check. Gay marriage endorsement backfire? Check.
But this might be the worst underlier of all: Obama is even losing among women.
Now, before we delve deeper, we should point out the funky methodology that has some — ranging on the spectrum from the Obama campaign to the National Journal — questioning how the results hold up.
This is a "panel-back" survey — the same voters were polled this time as were polled in mid-April. Only 562 of the original 856 registered voters re-responded to the poll this time around.
Still, the poll oversamples Democrats — among registered voters, the sample pool is composed of 36 percent Democrats, 34 percent Independents and 30 percent Republicans.
Romney's overall lead stands at 46 percent to 43 percent. Last month, the two candidates were deadlocked. There are a few underliers that spell disaster for Barack Obama. First is the women vote. What the heck happened here? Last month, Obama led among women by 6 percentage points. In this poll, he's trailing Romney by 2 points in the women's vote. It's an even bigger shift when you consider other surveys, like last month's CNN poll that found Obama destroying Romney among women by 16 points.

I know several folks who bought his lies and voted for him. They are all voting AGAINST him this time around. “Anybody but Obama.” is what they are saying.
It will have to be a landslide.

I know, but I may be wrong, that the pollsters understand that “women” is not a demographic.
In order to make it meaningful, “women” must be separated into married and single/divorced.
Maybe that separation exposes too much truth.
This is often the reason for not digging deeper - the truth is not PC.
The Obama administration, believing all of the fawning media hype about him, has become completely tone deaf to the concerns of the average American.
He will be his own worst enemy as this campaign progresses, and each time he reacts to poll numbers by trying a new announcement of some "new" social program, he will further irritate the majority of American voters.
His only chance in this election is the candidate he will be opposing isn't much better.
The good news is, Obama can't fight at all. He has had everyone changing his "C's" to "A's" his whole life, as Rush puts it. I'd say that Obama never failed to walk through a door that someone else held open for him.

Same here. Most of the obama voters I know will either be sitting out or voting for Romney. I cannot see any way bambi can get them back. He has been a complete failure as president, made worse by his now open support for gay marriage.

If and when he does visit an unfriendly venue (doubtful with everything scripted and populated carefully) there is about ZERO chance that the MSM will show it. With a compliant and supporting media even accidents and mistakes are ok, especially when a minor gaffe by your opponent is run 24 hrs a day for days on end.

I’m not worried. He, as well as his handlers, are so incompetent that I suspect most of their fighting will do more harm than good.
I’m NOT a Romney fan, but I’d love him to let this pandering to women go on a bit longer and then Romney, at a primarily female venue, gives a speech saying, very quitly, “I don’t want to disappoint some of yuo, but I am not the ‘women’s’ candidate.” Then, slowly increasing volume, “I am not the men’s candidate. I am not the african american’s candidate. I am not the white’s candidate and I am not the hispanic’s candidate. I am the AMERICAN’S candidate. ARE YOU AN AMERICAN?”
“THEN I AM YOUR CANDIDATE!”
Maybe not you, in particular, but many can be intimidated to not show up simply for the rumor of a threat of violence at the polling places............

It seems he lost some momentum. He’d have gotten some issue going by now. Maybe he thought this was going to be it, this gay thing. Maybe it’s all he has.
Does he need the swoon factor? Probably. If so, he failed to recognize women don’t swoon over gays. We tend to love our gay men friends. We lunch with them, confide in them, and they amuse us, and vice versa; and we take care of them. And they care for us. But there is no swooning.
The question in my mind is if he is defeated will he leave?
I keep seeing this refrain, but I think it will only work a little on the margins and in deeply blue cities. I am not too worried about the NBP party posting thugs at the polls in Portland ME.
No one watches or reads the MSM anymore...but his actions will be caught on video and uploaded to Youtube...and the outrageous ones will go viral.

Yes, but almost all of those battleground state polls the DemDreamers are looking at are stale, many of them six weeks old, that's why Commander Zero looks better in them.
Take those "battleground state" polls and switch 3-5% of the vote from Obama to Romney to get what's really happening.

Don’t know where you personally stand on the utility or value of FaceBook, but I wouldn’t discount the five degrees of separation available there.
And it supports videos and stills, which are at least as damaging as simply making the statements (self-authenticating, if you will, and with next to no effort on the lurker).
Obama makes a boo boo and 20,000 FaceBook users post and share the video of it before the MSM can scrub it.
And that doesn’t count the several hundred conservative commentators and news outlets (onenewsnow, for instance) who maintain vibrant FB presences. I personally have shared several posts from the latter,.

That will only work in a limited number of urban areas where Obama will win no matter what. I suggest that you watch the cable TV show "Hardcore Pawn" to see the core Obama supporters. Here are some examples of Obama voters from that show that is based in Detroit. I call these Obama voters the "GIMME MY MONEY" voters. They will come out to vote for Obama simply because they have nothing else to do because their only job is being on the government dole.
Mark my words. Obama will be defeated in such a way he himself will be shocked to his core. Even the 2 percenter gay vote if it turns out and 100% of them vote they will not make a dent in the landslide that is coming at Obama.
As I said, even Obama will be shocked. He should not be, of course, because with todays technology Obama and the Democrats already know they are in big trouble. That is why Obama is doing what he is doing. It is why he is pandering to small groups such as the gays who are hyper focused on politics. The problem that Obama has is that the rest of the country is hyper focused on this election. Because of the economy and because of things like gas prices. And there is the thing that really scares Obama and the Democrats. That thing is something they cannot get their fingers around. It is a snake that cannot be tread on because it moves beyond their grasp. It is the Tea Party. And it will take a very big bite out of Obama. He will not be able to shake off the fangs of the Tea Party.
As the days move forward you will see how Obama and the Democrats see the writing on the wall as they become more and more odd in their actions. They will as they have with the gay issue embrace smaller and smaller radical elements as they become more desperate. Even still, Obama cannot come to terms with the fact that he will be rejected and rejected BIG by America. He is a sociopath. Besides being a Maxist/Communist/Anti-Colonialist. Obama is the anti-American. The freedom hater. The killer of of United States Constitution. People have figured this out and they will vote him out in droves. Because their lives are on the line. Fear is a great motivator.
