There's a
page on google for reporting a "spam" blog. I suspect that a whole bunch of Lefties got together an flagged the guy's blog, and google has an automated procedure to shut down blogs after a certain number of "spam" alerts.
Easy way to test this: find a "progressive" blog on blogspot.com or blogger.com, and "FREEP" the spam alert for it.
