I believe Eagles only chase live prey. Must have been a vulture or something else. Anbody know for sure?
No he’s right. Bald eagles will feed on carrion.
Once while floating/fly fishing California’s Fall River, I spotted a flock of vultures feeding on something in a pature downstream. As I neared the scene I spotted a bald eagle feeding among the vultures. Surprised me then, but I have witnessed similiar scenes several times since that 1977 sighting. Bald Eagles will eat anything handy, and aren’t particular who they dine with!
I know for sure because I’ve seen bald eagles often here in western Washington.
And when they are on the road twenty feet in front of you, you don’t mistake them for a vulture.
Jeesh dude - do you believe everything you read?
