Gingrich Campaigning For Romney May 12, 2012

Newt Gingrich says he will join the campaign trail for Mitt Romney next week with two events in Georgia, including the state’s GOP convention. Gingrich, the former House speaker who represented Georgia, last week suspended his 2012 GOP presidential campaign. Gingrich won only two primaries in his campaign – Georgia and South Carolina.

A Gingrich campaign spokesman told CNN on Friday night about plans to help Romney, the likely GOP presidential nominee, starting at the GOP convention next weekend. He also reportedly will campaign for Romney in Las Vegas.

Gingrich has said he fully backs Romney and did so in his May 2 exit speech, though the endorsement seemed less than overwhelming. “I am asked sometimes is Mitt Romney conservative enough?” Gingrich said. “And my answer is simple – compared to Barack Obama? This is not a choice between Mitt Romney and Ronald Reagan. This is a choice between Mitt Romney and the most radical leftist president in American history."

Gingrich’s arrival to the campaign trail is followed by that of several other former GOP candidates including GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty.

Rick Santorum, Romney’s once-closest challenger, endorsed Romney on Monday night, toward the end of a letter to supporters that also acknowledged their remaining “differences.”

Santorum said in the letter he would “keep lines of communication open with (Romney) and his campaign,” but gave no indication he would join the campaign trail.

Although I believed that Gingrich was never electable and did split the anti-Romney vote helping Romney defeat Santorum for the nomination, one must admit that he's doing the right thing here. We can't take our primary battles to the general election. This is an epochal election. One more Supreme Court nomination by Obama and gay marriage will be made constitutional to say nothing of the continued Obamacare and sociarlst czars. This election is anybody but Obama. We can't sit around and diss Romney and allow the Obamites to change our nation irreversibly for the worse.

The fact is as so many have said, Romney is not Obama. I’m not sure that is the best that can be said about it him but if it is, it is a lot.

I don’t trust Romney to appoint good judges, but, I know Obama won’t. Any vote for any third party or refusal to vote in the general is a vote for Obama. I’m not sure it will make a difference anyway. While I believe there are Romney supporters I believe there are many more Anybody but Obama voters. Because of the anybody but Obama voters Romney will win in a landslide. He may not take 50 states but it will be a huge majority, I’m hoping for 60% of the electoral college.

Romney has been rejected by US, we Republicans and conservatives, by about two to one, since 2007. We all know he stinks and how he got to where he is. If Republicans and Americans had any guts, they'd throw Romney out on his ear. He's a political vegan at an all-beef barbecue. He's the wrong guy in the wrong place and he's ruthless -- how do you think he got this far? LOOK AT HIS RECORD. If it's O v R, I will vote for a third party.
