The Movie Reviews
“Haywire” with Gina Carano, Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, Bill Paxton, Channing Tatum, Antonio Banderas, Michael Douglas, et al.
A secret operative, “Selene,” is asked to rescue a hostage and then she is betrayed by the PTB and must clear her name. She does it in a very creative manner for someone who is not a killer for hire. This is a strong-woman role, and our heroine has frequent fist fights with men, and she wins them all. The “Bourne-Identity”-type chase scene was great as well. I loved it, and we gave it four stars.
“Neverland” with Rhys Ifans, Anna Friel, Charles Dance, Q’Orianka Kilcher, Charlie Rowe, Bob Hoskins, Keira Knightley, Raoul Trujillo, et al.
A prequel to “Peter Pan,” this two-part made-for-TV movie takes untoward liberties with the original story’s mode of transportation between Earth and Never Never Land. We see the origins of the Lost Boys, Captain Hook, and the other characters in the children’s story. It was a little shaky, but we gave it a “weak” four stars.
I wish that the ratings system was based on ten stars instead of five.
