Tim Larkin, a successful self-defense instructor, has been banned from entering the U.K. because, in the words of MP Rosie Cooper: “He teaches extreme and violent self-defense that is unwelcome [in Britain].”

One of Larkin’s philosophies, according to the Telegraph, is: “violence is rarely the answer, but when it is, it’s the only answer.” His website elaborates:

I've trained with Tim. He's a great instructor, and a great man. The best training I've ever had. Skills and attitudes that will keep you alive, without all the BS of "martial arts".

Knowing that, if needed, I can accomplish the same thing at close range without a gun as I can with one - just as effectively and probably more efficiently - has been a great education. It's an education I hope I will never need, but if I need it some day the training has become instinctual now, and will be ready in an instant.

That Britain banned Tim is not surprising, knowing what Britain has become, but it is their loss a a nation. Fortunately, the Brits have a lot of time off, and can come here to take his training. Even just studying and practicing his DVD courses - if they aren't also banned in Britain - would be well worth their while, and worth the while of anyone reading this as well.

On a another note; every Englishman, Scotsman, Welshman (is that how you say it?), I've worked with, has lamented the UK's gun laws and expressed envy of US gun laws.

The British public (contrary to American myth) has never been a gun-owning populace, so the gun bans were either popular or people really didnt care that much, as it wasnt relevant to them. They reacted to the Hungerford/Dunblane killings emotionally, and didnt perhaps grasp the bigger picture.

I supported the 1988 assault rifle band, and I was/am a gun owner (really the only ones buying those guns were Rambo types, no real British gun enthusiast owned them, preferring to own handguns, rifles new and old) BUT I thought

The Govt report after Dunblane actually called for tighter licensing not a ban, but the Tory govt wrongly bowed to pressure groups and muck-raking tabloids. I would have settled for tighter laws, if it meant handguns werent banned.

It sounds terrible, but it would have been better if Thomas Hamilton had killed those kids with an already illegal AK47 or MI6 or FLN. Handguns probably wouldnt have been banned then.

Aye Lad, we don’t get upset by these numbers because 98% of the killings are people who need to be killed. That’s right punks killing punks, druggies killing druggies and criminals killing criminals. I don’t lose any sleep over such things.

Now if you all would keep your numbers the same way we do, you learn that yours don’t look so good either. Adding a number to the murder rate AFTER the trial is not the way we do it.

I see this kind of thinking from Europeans all the time, and the primary reason is that Europeans simply do not understand the true nature of the United States at all. They tend to think of the US as being somewhat European in nature, given that it was more or less founded by people of European stock, and so view the issues the US has through a European lens. The truth is that the US is NOT European, and I mean that in the most fundamental cultural sense, as well as obvious demographics.

Americans, even the white ones, do not see the world as Europeans tend to see it. In fact, this great cultural battle that we are in at present is precisely between those "Americans" who want to live under the European model versus those who want to remain American, and the social and cultural rot we have been experiencing is directly due to the embrace of European attitudes and worldviews by a growing number of the population. If we went back to the core American values we had even 60 years ago, we would be healed overnight.

Your country, the UK, only survives without worse stats than the ones you quote for the US because you still have a largely homogeneous population. In the areas where your country has experienced high influxes of various immigrant groups, you are currently experiencing many of the same pathologies that you accuse the US of having, and in greater severity, perhaps eventually forcing you to understand the issues that the US has had to face since the beginning. Unlike Americans, however, as your government becomes more hostile to its own people, the British will have little means to resist the oppression. Americans, on the other hand, since the very first 4th of July, have always kept the possibility of the necessity of armed resistance to the government in the backs of our minds. It's part of our culture.

Well... maybe I should have said Mr. Choudary is the most feared man in Britain. He wants to be, that’s certain.

Actually, the most powerful Muslim in Britain is a member of the House of Lords. A few years ago Lord Achmed or whatever threatened to surround Parliament with 10,000 Muslim men if a female MP dared to screen a video about jihad terrorism. Fact.

But forget Anjem & his thugs who curse passersby who refuse their outthrust Islamic pamphlets. If you look at the crime rates broken down by demographic, the homicide rate of non-Hispanic whites in the US is around what it is in Europe. But don't worry, your Muslim immigrants will be sure to get your crime rates (especially rape rates) up past ours. Currently, for burglaries and robberies England and Wales had more crimes per 100,000 people than the USA. Your rate for "hot" burglaries (burglary of an occupied residence) is much higher than the US's -- possibly because burglars there are much less likely to face an armed homeowner protected by the Castle Law.

2-It was a journalist that claimed Lord Ahmed (the man IS an arse anyway), there isnt any proof he actually made the statement, he certainly never made it publicly.

I’m mystified. I’ve trained under British self-defence instructors who have taught potentially lethal techniques (mainly centred around blows and chokeholds to the head and neck), and a lot of people I’ve trained with during these times have been coppers who I know wouldn’t have been happy being in the presence of illegality taking place in front of their eyes.

There must be more to this story...
