Who are the tea party candidates state by state in both the Federal House and Senate races?
5/9/2012 | self

Posted on 05/09/2012 3:30:19 PM PDT by superfries

I thought someone did this back for the 2010 election but I have not seen anything related to the 2012 election cycle. I would be willing to help get this going. As I see it, if we are not capturing this info and then vetting these folks ourselves then we have no one to blame but ourselves. For example Pam Bondi and Connie Mack out of FLA had tea party support and even SP endorsed them in their races but they are far from the pure tea party conservatives we want to see elected right? If you are interested or know of an easy way to kick this off please Freep mail me. If this is already happening and I am just not seeing it please point me to it so I can participate!

So I am from Texas but it looks like we have a AZ election thread going:) What about the state senate and house and AG and other races.....any input on these? Do you guys think this is something we should do in the main forum on on the individual state msg forums?

Do you know anyone on your state forum that has any insight into the AZ Tea Party that could give us a statewide seat/race breakdown?
I don’t want to recreate the wheel here.....work smarter not hard right?

Hey Jim you suggested this so I started it. Do we have a list of freepers that we think would like to do something like this and does it serve us better to put these on the state forums or do you think we should do this out in the open on the main forum?

Congratulations for the most important thread of the year.

Conservative/Tea Party Representatives can very likely win control of the House this year.

Thanks for the kind words.....how do we do this....is this single thread the way to go? Or do we push this to the state forums only? I almost think we need to nominate folks by state to run these threads in the state forums? Out here in the main forum the thread gets a lot of input but it is from all states.

deport, very nice....thanks for bringing something to the party! This stuff is great......do you discuss this type of stuff on the Texas only forum? Is there someone you would consider to be an informal leader of that group? Do you think it best to push these threads int e main forum or keep them on the state forums?

What I offer toward discussion of how to do this:
Right NOW the goal should be to help Tea Party (and I would add conservative- even ones who don’t fully meet Tea Party qualifications) candidates in the Democrat and Republican primaries.
Helping them in the general elections would come later.

For the primaries a hundred bucks even, or a dozen hour’s work, could make a huge impact on a good candidate’s chances.

I suggest a ‘reference thread’- like this one- and individual threads linked to and from this thread.

I suggest the vetting be done on the individual threads so this thread is kept clear of virulence.

Poster’s of the individual candidate threads should make announcements on their state boards, I’ve seen several posters forget to do that.

Check post #17 for a link to a state by state listing of Tea Party Groups. That should give some contacts whereby info could be obtained or accumulated. Some larger states may need separate threads where others may could work from a group. Good luck in your efforts.

I think the main forum would get more attention. JMO and I base it on the fact that I very seldom go to the Texas forum.

I believe it was in 2010 that some FReeper kept charts of various races, but can’t remember who it was.

I would think it would be good to have everyone list races they are familiar with, both Senate and House, and designate the best conservative/Tea Party candidate in that race.

A weekly update could then follow, showing any new poll results, campaign news, etc. that anyone would like to add.

Although I think state treads make sense, a lot of us follow races in other states too because the votes of the federal officials affect us all.

Thanks.

Well, the primaries are upon us and we have to act quick. Virginia’s primaries are only a month off. But still plenty of time to affect the outcome. I assume most states are about the same time frame (not Indiana obviously!).

If Jim wants to support a Front Page thread-

title:
Directory of Tea Party [or Conservative] Primary Candidates

body:
“Please post a thread on the forum for any Tea Party [or Conservative] primary candidates and then link to it here (and on the appropriate State message board).
Include the name, district, party, the date of the primary and a link also to the candidate’s website.
Include nothing else, all other info- and any discussion- must take place on the linked individual thread.”

It would require more attention from the mods than most threads...

I think using “Conservative” would get the most bang for the effort. It seems the Tea Party organizations haven’t even made many candidate recommendations yet.
Get some more input and thrn sleep on it. Like I said it would be the year’s most important thread IMO.

BTW, CPT Jenerette, the Freeper running for office, is being criticized on this thread for being a commissioned officer in the Army Reserve. Some Freepers don't think she should be in the military.

http://freerepublic.com/focus/news/2866082/posts?page=28#28

CPT Jenerette is now in civil affairs and appears to have previously been a military journalist in her NCO days. Not that an Army officer needs a civilian defending her — I think she is perfectly capable of defending herself — but I posted a few comments defending her.

Key excerpt from what I wrote: “I respect people's right to oppose women in the military but that's not my position, and it has not been the position of the United States military for over seven decades. As far as I can tell, CPT Jenerette is doing things that women were allowed to do in the Army even before World War II broke out.”

Clarification on that: my point was that women have been able to do civil affairs and public affairs work since before World War II, not that women could go to jump school and take military police training during World War II. Based on what I've read of the situation in World War II, women nurses and other women serving in the military often got additional training through informal channels from experienced combat veterans with whom they were serving, or learned the hard way if their units were attacked. Under current conditions with no front lines, even civilians serving as embedded reporters are seeking out training so they can survive if their units are attacked, so why shouldn't we give military women the training they need to survive?
