Doctors group calls on Obama to stop eating junk food in public

A healthcare advocacy group run by physicians is preparing to file a petition calling on President Obama to stop eating hamburgers, hot dogs and other unhealthy foods before cameras.

"As role model to millions of Americans, the president has a responsibility to watch what he eats in public," said Susan Levin, nutrition education director with the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM).

Obama's occasional stops at Washington, D.C.-area burger joints always receive press attention.

He famously treated staff to lunch at Good Stuff Eatery on Capitol Hill in August 2011.

A year before that, he and then-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev grabbed food at Ray's Hell Burger in Arlington, Va.

And in March, during a visit to Ohio with British Prime Minister David Cameron, he ate hot dogs while watching college basketball.

Levin said in a statement that processed meats like hot dogs "kill more Americans every year than tobacco does, and they cost taxpayers billions of dollars in healthcare."

How about they call on him to stop socializing medicine, while they are at it?

Interesting he stuffs his face with junk food while his wife plants lettuce and demands everyone exercise more.

Two faced hypocrites.

Agreed except I doubt Michelle actually planted the lettuce. Gardening is menial labor, and the queen won’t want to get her hands dirty.

Shouldn’t they also be trying to stop the actors in the commercials from eating hamburgers, hot dogs, etc?

Ah, this must be a thinly-veiled campaign ad to show us that Hussein’s face shown eating (fast?) food is a more powerful ad than any Burger King/McDonalds commercial actor in the world!

Man, does that pic ever bring about a Pink Floyd song...

And not going the racial route here, but the first thing I thought of when I saw those long, dangly arms wrapped around the kids and the bent knees...orangutang!

“As role model to millions of Americans, the president...”

Sady, that’s true to the 52% of America’s moron/idiots/schmucks who voted for 0bummer, in 2008. I still don’t give the majority here very much credit for any discernible brainmatter.

A hamburger meal comprises meat, vegetables, a bun made of grains, and a side of potatoes.

A wagyu steak dinner comprises meat, vegetables, rolls made of grains, and potatoes.

The difference: the first is affordable by everyone — only the 1% can afford the latter (Obama gets courtesy of the U.S. taxpayer; but, he could also afford to pay for them.)

Hamburgers are not junk food. This is blatant class warfare! (Dems against the poor.)

Hamburgers are not junk food.

Thank God they have In n Out in Las Vegas!

Hamburgers are a balanced meal. Skip the soda and fries.

Sweetened drinks are a toxin. They lead to an insulin rush that inflames from the inside.

If zero was drinking these at a game, then I would be on the bandwagon with the OP.

Exactly. Not a damn thing wrong, nutrition wise, eating a hamburger. There is a LOT wrong with the busybody medical commnunity trying to nanny state our freedoms away.
