I’m so sick (pardon the pun) of using “epidemic” to describe obesity. While technically correct, it implies that people are helpless and will succumb to obesity like typhoid fever. BS!! 98% of obese people are obese due to behavior CHOICES. Of course children with lazy or absent parents are truly victims, but government intervention only makes their problems worse.
It’s cheaper to make your child oatmeal and fruit or eggs for breakfast, but pop tarts or doghnuts are EASIER...thus the problem.
Nationalize the food production and distribution industries. Shut down all food or drink outlet except government distribution centers where everyone must go for their daily rations. Make any home production of food, gardening and hunting criminal. Problem solved in a way most academics and bureaucrats will approve.
Why don’t the school buses allow the pampered crumb snatchers to walk ten feet to their own front doors?
Not to mention, it was just recently that the gubmint’s own “Food Pyramid” had grains and bread as the largest food group to devour.
Now, some are saying cholesterol lowering drugs can cause diabetes!!!

Why don’t we just humiliate obese people.... you know, tease them in front of their peers, call them fatty, piglet or
as was MY case ... butterball.
Well, it worked for me. I was so fat in Jr.High, I couldn’t get both feet off the ground on the rope climb. I couldn’t jump high enough to reach the top of the climbing wall. I couldn’t run 100 feet without stopping.
And the gym teacher (who was a friend of my father)made fun of me in front of everyone in gym class.
So I quit taking 3 helpings and quit deserts.
And I ran..and ran..and ran.
When 1972 rolled around, I’d run 2 marathons and was voted most physically improved in my school.
I say bring on the degradation and shame fat kids and their enabling parents into some self respect.
Where is it in the Constitution that Obesity is any of the Federal, much less any of the governments business?

I guess promoting low-calorie foods would be the answer, hey? Low calorie foods like sawdust, straw, and dirt come to mind. People wouldn’t be fat if they ate low-calorie foods like that, right?
