RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) North Carolina voters have approved a constitutional amendment defining marriage solely as a union between a man and a woman, making it the 30th state to adopt such a ban.
With 35 percent of precincts reporting Tuesday, unofficial returns showed the amendment passing with about 58 percent of the vote to 42 percent against.

The current number are actually 61-39.
Lugar gone, fag “marriage” banned.
Landslides.
Good news is breaking out all over the place.
God bless the good people of North Carolina.
Bump (you should excuse the expression)!
Geez, I'd bet the 39 are democrats.
North Carolina and Indiana... Barometer for November?
And those tar heel fags are probably heading here to mexifornia to get hitched. Like we need more of these freaks.
Not one state has ever approved gay marriage, when the people were allowed to vote for it.
So of course, the libs in NC will fish out some liberal judge and get it declared unconstitutional.
Don’t be too sure. In the privacy of the voting booth, Richard (”Let’s HOMOSEXUALIZE the military”) Burr may have voted against it. Come to think of it, both of his very dainty sons may have opposed it as well!
I don't want to jinx the country, but maybe the MSM has done so much propagandizing and artificially pumping up n0bama's ratings that it's got conservatives scared to the point where they'll make sure they show up at the polls.
At the same time the government handout crowd is becoming so overconfident, that they'll figure "Ahhh Bama's so far ahead, why bother going to the polls. We'll just stay home eating pork rinds and drinking malt liquor."
Dare to hope.
Thank you... it was our pleasure here in N.C. to vote against it.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard that people feared that happening. That's why this is a state constitutional amendment.
We thank you so much North Carolina. This is truly huge. I cannot wait to see what happens tomorrow. Heads will
be exploding coast to coast.
What a misleading headline. Sounds as if gay marriage was approved.
Another big thank you to NC GOP voters! I’ve been “severely” bummed since Newt dropped out & this along w/Lugar’s loss gives me hope.
You don’t expect accuracy or clarity or truth from the AP, do you?
They spin everything to make the left look intelligent, sympathetic, and caring and the right to look stupid, and cold, and selfish.
When a major agenda item for the left goes down in defeat, they’ll paint it somehow as a win for their side, all to create a spirit of defeat for conservatives.
And let me add that since news is going online, AP editorial standards are in the latrine. Before, they were biased but at least their articles adhered to some sort of journalistic standards and style guides. Now they are biased and their writing is atrocious.
Poor liberals never see it coming since they always swallow the MSM propaganda without question.

Free America52 says the current numbers are 61-39. Decisive numbers. Great news, the leftist creeps in Asheville didn't tip the numbers!
How do you reconcile that with the fact that referendums have been defeated in 30 states.... 30-0- a perfect score?
Propaganda much, MSM?
Eight more states and that would be enough for a federal marriage amendment.
“NC approves amendment on gay marriage”
Never a more misleading headline.
Ummm....
Hallelujah!
Actually some of the strongest support for the amendment came from the black counties.
My thought exactly. My nomination for worst, most misleading headline of the year.
Exactly. It’s like saying they approved an amendment on “square circles”.
Which counties are black?
What’s your point? That article does not refute anything I said.

What is in that link that disputes what I sid?
Don’t waste your time hoping.
This will be overturned by a court in short order.
And Obama is going to do his best to steal the election. Even if the handout crowd says home, ACORN will vote ‘em, where they can get away with it.
Not disputing... just found it interesting re the strong support for the amendment from those counties.
Sorry, I had you confused with someone else. Thanks for the information.
They poll Democrats heavily and only in NYC and San Fagcisco.
Folks don't want to be considered homophobic, so they lie to the posters.. Once in the booth, they do the right thing
I’ve noticed that this is a recurring theme with the Associated Press. (They give a suggested headline which is almost always used.)
Watch for this sort of reverse headline on political issues.
Chances are, that they might have a hissy fit and try moving the Democratic National Convention to some other state, but the laughable, out of touch part is the fact that the MSM is seemingly obssessing over this issue over the past few days. Most regular people don’t care about some same-sex couple holding a wedding reception somewhere on Earth, oh my, the horror, but the MSM seems to think that somehow that this is the case.
