Russian riot police beat protesters about the head with batons and detained 250 on Sunday after clashes broke out at a Moscow rally by thousands of people against Vladimir Putin on the eve of his return to the presidency.

Opposition leaders Alexei Navalny, Boris Nemtsov and Sergei Udaltsov were among those detained during violence that showed the depth of divisions and tensions in Russia as the former KGB spy starts his six-year third term on Monday.

Six year third term, Obam can only dream about it.
Probably salivates at the thought.

The KPRF is no where to be seen in this one...

If there is unrest in Russia, the Communists would exploit it, take over, and Putin would be allowed to retire to a nice dacha on the Black Sea. The opposition leaders would get a nice, all expenses paid trip to Siberia.

"Democracy is the power of the majority. Russia is everything, the rest is nothing!" Alexander Dugin, a Kremlin-aligned nationalist, told the pro-Putin crowd

This is the fascist dhimmi scumbag who is the ideologue and theorist behind KGB Putin's anti-American anti-Christ alliance with all our jihadist terrorist enemies.

Dugin also compares what he believes are the inherently peaceful traditions in Sufi, Shiite and Orthodox Islam to Catholicism, Protestantism and Sunni Islamism, which he accuses of seeking conflict between civilizations. Creating such divisions has allowed him to propose the creation of a “strategic Russo-Muslim partnership” with traditional, non-politicized Islam and explains why he distinguishes Iran from the rest of the Muslim world. The presentation of Shiite Iran in his geopolitical theories is that of a model and an ally in the resistance against the United States, while the Sunni Muslim world is portrayed as having sold out to “Atlanticist” powers. He sees the so-called “clash of civilizations" as being no more than an invention of the West, one that is contrary to the dialogue of civilizations that would exist between Eurasian peoples. - Dugin: A “Eurasianist”

Indeed. It is downright pathetic how many desperate paleoconservatives have deluded themselves into thinking that Putin is standing up for Orthodox Christianity and Slavs against Muslims.

deluded themselves ...?

He publicly demonstrates his support of Christianity, encourages marriage and is pro life. He said he will support Christianity anywhere in the world. Putin is a huge plus for us.

Just heard Rush say, Putin is to the right of Obama.

Putin spit on Orthodox Christianity when he sent his islamic Chechen red army into Georgia to rape and massacre innocent Christian women and children. The only nation Putinist Russia has ever attacked is a Christian ally of the USA.

Satanic genocidal Putin will meet the same violent end as his mohammedan comrades Saddam and Kadaffy, and the world will rejoice!

DEVIL SENT DOWN TO GEORGIA RUSSIA UNLEASHES CHECHEN THUGS

Russia Deployed Chechen Units Into Georgia

Chechen Commander Fired After Ossetia Tour

Chechen dissident Yamadayev assassinated in Dubai - His status as a fugitive didn't stop Yamadayev from living openly in Moscow, his family members have said. Nor did it keep him out of the fray when war erupted last summer between Russia and Georgia. Despite the warrant for his arrest, Yamadayev led a Chechen battalion to fight alongside Russia in the breakaway Georgian region of South Ossetia.

Putin defends Christianity? How? By sending muslim Chechen terrorists to kill America's Christian allies? The evil genocidal Putin dropped cluster bombs on innocent Georgian civilians to punish them for helping the USA overthrow Putin's socialist comrade Saddam Hussein.

Putin encourages marriage? How? By slapping around his wife and cheating on her?

Putin is pro-life? How? He's taken away the Russians' right to choose their leaders, he's taken away their freedom of speech and freedom of press, he's taken control of all the nation's energy resources, but he hasn't taken away one person's "right" to an abortion. Why do you think that is?

It looks like Tailgunner is a Georgian president and he has an agenda:)

Putin doesn’t look like an angel but he is not leftist for sure.

Russians had their reasons to screw Georgia at the time, justified or not, religion has nothing to do with it.

The reason Russia went after Georgia is because the Georgians prefer us and want to lean west.

The reason many Russians would not go to Georgia and fight and they had to send chechens is because Russia and Georgia have long been considered Orthodox Christian brothers.

Putin is to the right of Obama but not wishing us anything good. Read up on Alexander Dugin when you get time and his movement, which Putin supports. Putin is a geopolitic at heart and loves neo-eurasianism.

In turn the eurasianists hate the west (us) and wish destruction on us.

It's all out there, you have only to google and read...

You are absolutely right on Georgian pro-Western lean as a political reason why Russians were eager to jump on Georgia, but you have to admit Georgian leadership did all they could to make excuse for them in doing that.
Chechen units were sent just because they were close to conflict zone, all this Muzzie-Christian allegations has nothing to do with reality.

In the past Georgians used Chechens against Russian “Orthodox brothers” as well.

Don’t get it wrong, Georgia is a nice place full of nice pro-American people, but their government is very different.

That is not monochrome. US and Russia proved to be a powerfull alliance in times of need. Russia has legitimate interests as well and it is not contradict (real) US interests most of the time. If US is playing a zero sum game so does Russians.
