An 11th-hour Republican Vikings stadium plan that would have paid for the state’s share with general obligation bonds was declared dead late Thursday morning, and in its wake House GOP leaders pledged to hold a long-awaited floor vote next Monday on the stadium bill authored by Rep. Morrie Lanning and Sen. Julie Rosen. House leaders said they also hope to vote on their 2012 bonding bill Monday.
GOP leaders said that serious questions about using general obligation bonds to pay for the state’s portion of a new stadium for the Minnesota Vikings have forced them to drop the plan, which they floated as a possible end-of-session path just two days earlier. They will now move full-speed ahead with votes on a separate bonding bill and the stadium proposal negotiated between the team, city of Minneapolis and lawmakers, sketching out an end-of-session map that will involve lengthy floor debates and little negotiating with DFL Gov. Mark Dayton.

If not, will the Minnesota Vikings move to LA?
I have told my representatives to vote no on this.

I know it's a state issue however it's a nationwide state issue.
You’ve gotta love the paradigm...you pay for my stadium, I make millions from using it, and you can pick up the dregs through taxing beer sales, etc.
If it’s a losing enterprise...you pay...I still make money.
If it’s a winning enterprise...you still pay, and I make even more money. And you get to brag that your felons are more talented than other folks’ felons.

L.A. “Lakers”. That’s another name thst should have been changed. Minnesota has Lakes. L.A. has Barrios.
Well, the Los Angeles “Lakers” originally were the Minneapolis Lakers. They seem to have fared pretty well.

I always thought a “Laker” was somebody from LA. So from that perspective the name kind of make sense.
And at least they actually play in LA, unlike the “Los Angeles” Angels.
It's also amusing that the scumbag poles are doing everything they can to avoid it going to a direct vote of the people as required by city law (on city funding over 10 million.)
That they are even entertaining spending public funds on boondoggles like this just illustrates how out of control government is.
Time for the NFL to be run like a business Completely.
Looks like the Vikings will be next. NFL would like them to move to L.A. because it’s the second largest tv market in the nation. If not Vikings, then Chargers. But one way or other, L.A. will get a NFL team by the end of this decade.
That all depends on the dictat of The Obama wanna-be Lord Goodell. Citizens are best off questioning neither of them.
It will be long before the end of this decade. They are already putting the finishing “fix” on a new state of the art Stadium.
But if it creates one $50,000/year job, the cost of that job is probably around $1 million.
Politicans will get their kickbacks from this funding, and the owner will get his stadium.
Louisiana wasted lots and lots of money on the Superdome. I am sure that if Louisiana had that money in the bank today, it would not be as financially strapped.
How about the San Antonio Hombres? lol
The last owner, Red McCombs wanted to move them to his home area.. then Zygi coughed up big dough.. and now, once they build a stadium, taxpayers will be paying that one back for years..
the pro-stadium parrots will point out that MN bailed out Northwest Airlines 3 times.
