Who the hell is "Julia" and why am I paying for her whole life?
Human Events ^ | 05/03/2012 | by David Harsanyi

In the new Barack Obama campaign piece The Life of Julia, voters can "Take a look at how President Obama's policies help one woman over her lifetime -- and how Mitt Romney would change her story." It is one of the most brazenly statist pieces of campaign literature I can ever remember seeing.

Let's, for the purposes of this post, set aside the misleading generalizations regarding policy in the ad (no one is innocent on that account, obviously). What we are left with is a celebration of a how a woman can live her entire life by leaning on government intervention, dependency and other people's money rather than her own initiative or hard work. It is, I'd say, implicitly un-American, in the sense that it celebrates a mindset we have -- outwardly, at least -- shunned.

It is also a mindset that women should find offensively patronizing. When they're old enough, I hope my two daughters will find the notion that their success hinges on the president's views on college-loan interest rates preposterous. Yet, according to the "Life of Julia," women are helpless without the guiding hand of Barack Obama.

Julia can enroll in a Head Start program to help get her ready for school. Because of steps President Obama has taken to improve the program …  Julia can take the SATs because she was trained by the useless “Race to the Top” program, yes, implemented by President Obama …  During college, Julia undergoes surgery, which is thankfully covered by her insurance due to parents' coverage until she turns 26 … thanks to Obama.

Julia works as a full-time web designer, and thanks to Obamacare, her health insurance is required to cover birth control and preventive care, "letting Julia focus on her work rather than worry about her health..."

...because children are bad for your health, obviously.

And so on and so forth.

Julia then has a son named Zachary (who has no father around, as far as I can tell) and we can start the entire storyline again.

Finally, Julia retires. “After years of contributing to Social Security, she receives monthly benefits that help her retire comfortably, without worrying that she'll run out of savings...

This allows her to volunteer at a community garden.”

If you think Social Security benefits allow you to live your retirement without worry, you deserve Barack Obama.

Most decent people believe that government should be there to assist and help those who find themselves in legitimately rough or desperate circumstances. But an adult Julia, from what I can tell, does not qualify.

“Charity, private charity, had been the classic American way of helping people who fell on difficulty due to no fault of their own.”

There is a big reason why the government option is preferable to charity by the left. Charity requires the acknowledgment that those who have achieved and who therefore can give are not villains. It also suggests that the recipient of the charity be appreciative and thankful to those who provided the charity. The left is driven by hatred, and cannot abide that. They prefer to vilify those who have, take their ‘stuff’, make it clear that they have no choice but to give up their stuff, and then spit in their face rather than be thankful.

Is Head Start the only thing that could help Julia in getting an education?

By the government's own standards, Head Start is a dismal failure, every year since its inception . In the annual report received by the White House, its effectiveness rating (100% is total success) hovers at or below 50%.

And that program is one of hundreds similarly rated, which continue to be funded year after year.
Can anyone imagine a private industry company whose success rate for decades is 50% surviving long?
I'll have to find the official site that documents that beyond question.

Any program with a rating of less than 75% should have gotten the ax decades ago. Yet, like vampires, they continue existing and more similar programs are added every year.

Julia--- Julio--- lets make it simple, No useful productive work, no food. No food, starve.
Community organizing to create additional parasites does not qualify as work. Activism which destroys property and lives is not work.
Back to the drawing board.

Most decent people believe that government should be there to assist and help those who find themselves in legitimately rough or desperate circumstances.

Call me indecent then. Family, friends, neighbors, church community should provide this assistance. Of course we have seen the destruction of the family unit over the past couple of generations, and churches are a shell of what they once were... But relying on government to 'stand in the gap', just creates greater dependency on government. I'd like them to be limited to building roads, protecting the borders, and administering the Law equitably... Instead we have an octopus in Washington DC (and every State Capital fiefdom) with their tentacles spread into all aspects of our lives.

Didn't Cambodia have some of those under Pol Pot?

For some reason it reminds me of this:

Perhaps the most egregious example of the liberal media planting a pro-Kennedy spin on Chappaquiddick came in a January 5, 2003 Boston Globe Magazine profile of Kennedy:

“If she had lived, Mary Jo Kopechne would be 62 years old. Through his tireless work as a legislator, Edward Kennedy would have brought comfort to her in her old age,” wrote the Globe’s Charles Pierce. The quote was recognized as the worst of the year at the MRC’s DisHonors Awards in 2004.

One question that continues to truly puzzle me.
If Julia (and her little bastards) live their entire lives off of the hard work of income tax payers with real (non government) jobs, how does she manage to contribute to social security that she has paid for with the fruits of her own labor?

I'm sure the Obama Reichsministerium für Volksaufklärung und Propaganda or Propagandaministerium has a glib, meandering and unconvincing explanation for that!

LOL. That’s a good one. She does this right after she participates in Two Minutes of Hate.

"No worry. Julia simply went into the Obama Medical Center for a $50 abortion. Now, not being punished with another burdensome child, Julia had much more time to devote to the community organic garden. She even had a little extra to donate to the Democrat party. One day she paused to count her blessings. She thought about freedom from an unwanted child along with food stamps and the free solar panels that kept her government housing apartment warm! Julia knew that she could rest easy. Obama had made sure that her life would be care free. Housing, food, health care -- even an electric car and kitchen remodel -- all taken care of by the Father of the Country."

Then one day, Julia passed away. But the body wasn't found for five days, because no one had checked on her, not even the people from the community garden. With no children, no one came to claim the body either. The county health department cremated her and interred the ashes in a communal urn.

Meanwhile, Obama teed it up on #1 at The Courses at Andrews...

Alas, Team Obama has omitted a few milestones from the life of Julia:

4 months: Julia’s mother decides that giving birth will be hard on her figure. She kills Julia. Under Barack Obama, her right to do so is absolutely nonnegotiable.

10 years: Trapped in a failing and dangerous public school, Julia (another Julia, not the dead one) is terrified and miserable. Under the Obama administration, protecting the government education monopoly from competition and accountability is almost as sacrosanct as abortion. School-choice programs are severely constrained or eliminated. Julia falls behind.

21 years: After barely completing her high-school degree in her god-awful school, Julia goes looking for a job. There aren’t many, especially for people without college degrees. Julia kicks around the food-service and hospitality industries for a while, and ends up getting a job as a bartender. Even at her relatively low level of income, she pays a host of direct and indirect taxes to help subsidize Obama donors and supporters at politically connected businesses. She can’t quite figure out why President Obama’s pet millionaires and billionaires need her money more than she does.

22 years: After working in the bar for a while, Julia decides she likes it and wants to open her own place. But she’ll need capital to get that done. Under Obama, there is little or no credit available to small entrepreneurs, because we never got around to fixing the problems in the banking system, instead choosing to futz around with things like the disclosures on credit-card offers and micromanaging swipe fees and grandstanding about bonuses. Julia does not open her new business, and she doesn’t hire any other Julias to build, decorate, supply, or staff it.

23 years: Being a bartender, Julia works late at night. Under Obama, the federal government supports laws that make it difficult or impossible for a private citizen to own a gun in many places. Leaving her bar one night, the defenseless Julia is killed in the street. Ironically, the gun used to kill her was sold to a Mexican drug cartel under a program run by President Obama’s Department of Justice.

57 years: Julia (different Julia, not one of the dead ones) has been paying very high taxes for most of her life, mainly to support three federal programs: Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. In fact, the payroll tax diverts about 12 percent of her income — income she might have saved — into the entitlements. Under President Obama, stubborn refusal to reform these unsustainable entitlements means that the programs have to be radically cut or entirely eliminated, and Julia and her whole generation get hosed in spite of the fact that they have been taxed for decades under the phony promise that they were “paying into” the programs. The only alternative to massive cuts was an 88 percent increase in all federal taxes, which already have been rising to offset costs from Obamacare, which were wildly underestimated.

88 years: Julia (different Julia) passes away in 2022. And she got out just in time: Policies adopted by the Obama administration sent the national debt to $71,000 per person and climbing.

“With no children”

Since her son Zachary had died of AIDS after joining a gay regiment of the Army, no one agreed to pay for a cremation.

So, the her body was buried in the organic garden to fertilize mother earth and her beloved marijuana plants.

The one thing I was amazed by was that they couldn't contain their statism even in Julia's retirement. Could she work in her own garden with her own flowers and tomatoes? Nope. It had to be in the community garden. I guess the kulaks with their own tomato plants had already been shot or staved.

Here’s another question: If the government provides her with everything she needs, why does she need an education?

I’m confused. Since this is put out by the Obama campaign, how does Julia miraculously get past the abortionist’s scalpel and vacuum?

OBAMA ANTHEM LYRICS

All hail the messiah

Obama, Obama

The path to the new socialist motherland

Our savior, our savior

Obama, Obama

The leader more famous than Lindsay Lohan

Bow down and praise the one

Give him your money and your guns

Give us a country

That makes your wife proud

Lord Barry heal the bitter ones

White and Clinging to faith and to guns

Hope for the change of the hope of the change!
