House GOP to distribute draft contempt citation against Eric Holder over "gunwalking"

(CBS News) Republicans on the House Oversight Committee were to take the first formal step Thursday toward contempt proceedings against Attorney General Eric Holder over the Fast and Furious "gunwalking" operation, CBS News has learned.
The case for a citation declaring Holder in contempt will be laid out in a briefing paper and 48-page draft citation distributed to Democrats and Republicans on the committee. CBS News has obtained copies of both documents. In them, Republican members use strong language to accuse Holder of obstructing the committee's investigation, which is now in its second year.

It was printed yesterday that Boehner was putting it on ice.
Maybe this is an end run around Boehner; if so, good!
I hope so. The real threat needs to come from criminal charges against Holder being filed in Arizona. Send sheriff Joe to arrest him.

Better late than never. They first made a lot of noise about holding him in contempt in February, and made it sound like they had the papers all drawn up. Posturing fools.
As much as I like Doug Book's articles I think that was an unfounded opinion. He has a habit of indulging in that.

Will the Republicans have the stomach to come down hard or will they cower, and thus demonstrate this to be be just another theatrical performance?

Well, I will wait until Boehner actually schedules it for a vote. The draft is meaningless if he won't bring it to the floor.
I don't know what the odds are in Las Vegas but my guess they are 10 to 1 the republicans will COWER!

I wish I could take you up on that; but given the timidity with which they’ve pursued Fast and Furious, which is nothing less than allowing some group of officials commit unauthorized acts of war against another nation, I have to assume that this will come to naught.
