Mormon Bishop Mitt Romney’s Anti-Christian Religion
http://defendchristians.org ^ | April 13, 2012 | http://defendchristians.org

Many naive Americans believe that Mormonism is merely another branch of protestant Christianity. Well that’s not what the founders and leaders of Mormonism believed.

According to its founder, Joseph Smith, and Brigham Young, Smith’s successor, Mormons are the only true people of God on the earth. All non-Mormons and their religions are “wrong, an abomination, blind, damned, of the devil, whores, not Christians, groveling in darkness, heathens, ignorant, devoid of fact, pagan and hatched in Hell.”

When Romney made a speech about his religion in 2008 he refused to distance himself from his faith and fully affirmed his Mormonism. Responding to critics, Romney said,

"They would prefer it if I would simply distance myself from my religion, say that it is more a tradition than my personal conviction, or disavow one or another of its precepts. That I will not do. I believe in my Mormon faith and I endeavor to live by it. My faith is the faith of my fathers - I will be true to them and to my beliefs."

Romney, the father of homosexual marriage in America and abortion funding Romney Care in Massachusetts, flip-flops on virtually every issue, but he is adamant about his anti-Christian Mormonism. Romney needs the vote of Christians to win election, but he refuses to “disavow one or another of its precepts.”

Nor can anyone think Romney is merely a casual or cultural Mormon who just happened to be born Mormon. He is an active Bishop in the Mormon church hierarchy. He cannot pretend to be ignorant of the teaching of Joseph Smith and the other “prophets” of Mormonism.

Below is a list of quotes from Mormon leaders and official publications starting with Joseph Smith down to our day. The message is consistent and clear.

This is true but it is the EVIL spirit within him that left MA with his same sex marriage, $50 abortions and socialistic healthcare. He initiated it. The evil spirit is from his Mormonism beliefs - they are not from God, so it can’t be good. [presently no screen name, post #4]

I believe that most of the policies you object to are not taught or supported by the LDS/Mormon church. Indeed, several of them are very much opposed, taught against... by that church. Whatever the source of those policies may be, it does not really appear to be his church. [Faithhopecharity, post #20]

Sometimes shallow parents produce shallow children -- even if the areas of life upon which they are shallow are quite distinct.

Or pick out another dozen traits or characteristics and say the same thing.

In this case, the spiritual parent -- the Mormon church & Romney's Mormon family/ancestors -- have produced spiritual "kids" who are wishy-washy. I mean, even in abortion...look how squishy wishy-washy the Mormon church is:

Abortion: The official Mormon church position (see
http://www.religioustolerance.org/lds_abor.htm) is that it's "OK" for an abortion if...
(a) Incest needs to be covered up;
(b) The baby is disabled and needs to be destroyed accordingly
(c) Mom's "health" (whatever that means...distinct from saying "life" of the mother)
(d) If the abortionist says it's "OK"
(e) If the Mormon god says it's "OK" in prayer...

E alone above could "justify" abortion to individual Mormons as long it overrides the person's conscience!

Therefore...If people want to understand Mormonism's approach to the socio-political realm, please read these two articles (the first written by a Mormon; the second by an ex-Mormon):

* Mitt Romney mirrors his Mormon church [Lds writer says Romney flip-flops 'cause Lds church has/does]
*
Who is Mitt Romney? [Ex-Lds author reveals why Mitt's wishy-washy culture waffles & flip-flops]

In the first linked article above, Mormon Neal Chandler highlights how in the 19th century...
* Mormons forced communism upon its people -- and then not (United Order)
* Adhered to theocracies under its first two "prophets" -- and then slowly drew back
* Said polygamy was a condition of the highest degree of glory -- and then not
* Encouraged its Utah Territory voters to be Democrats -- and then told whole groups of people wholesale to "balance it out" as Republicans as statehood approached
* Excluded blacks -- and then late in the 20th century not

From the second article linked above: What makes Mitt the kind of person he is — ruthlessly opportunistic, dishonest, insincere, willing to say anything for advantage, lacking in conscience, preoccupied with appearance, etc., on the one hand, yet squeaky clean, family-oriented, disciplined, boring, and predictable, on the other? My new e-book, A Mormon Story, sheds light on the culture that produced Mitt Romney.

Good question. (It's one I've raised -- and answered numerous times on various FR threads)

The answer, says this ex-Mormon in the book referenced above is: (From the article): The book reveals a value system that ultimately has no absolutes, other than the need to conform to deep-seated, highly-controlling authoritarianism that pervades LDS culture. That culture emphasizes a Mormon tradition known as "eternal progression" — undoctrinal spiritual evolution in which even God is changing. It also emphasizes the notion that the latest words of governing church leaders trump the Word of God found in the scriptures (including LDS scripture).

IOW, EVERYTHING in Mormonism -- from its theology to its social practices -- is up for potential change at the whim of the Mormon god. Bottom-line: There is no bottom-line in Mormonism! There is no bedrock doctrine that cannot be replaced!

There isn't even an Ultimate god in Mormonism...Nobody knows who the gods are that were part of the council which appointed the god of this world -- a former man, say Mormons.

So there's not even any Ultimate Authority in Mormonism!

All is up for grabs -- to be waffled upon -- @ any given notice by the Lds "prophet"!

LOL. He isn’t a jerk at all and has been my husband for over 16 years now. He has never been a ‘holy roller’ either, just a strong Christian who had the guts to tell me truth, even if it meant losing our friendship.

His comments stuck with me the entire time I was in Utah (and deep in Mormonism). His comments, which were the truth, led me back to him when I left. There is such a thing as tough love and he loved me enough to be bold enough to tell me what I didn’t want to hear. That was a blessing in the long run because it got me out of that evil cult (Mormonism) and into a relationship with Christ.

I used to be Mormon and frankly, those with your attitude don’t keep people IN Mormonism, not lead them out. I am eternally grateful that my beloved husband loved me enough to tell me the truth, even if it hurt at the time.

They did promote Homosexuality by supporting pro-homosexual policies and laws in SLC.

Yes. As referenced in my chart in post #37.

Catholics and Evangelicals agree on the basics of Christian theology...those found in the creeds. Mormons reject those doctrines.

Study to show thyself approved.

From time to time notable Mormons have gone on charm offensives to depict the faith as being one of high morals and clean living. That may be so on paper, but Mitt isn’t even honoring their own paper.

Relax., take a few deep breaths and remember “Google is your friend”, FRiend.

Mormons do not accept homosexuality, and if there is a faith more child oriented, do let me know.

No, I’m not Mormon. But I do know how to search Google. Everything, including the “secret ceremonies/rituals” are on the net.

PD They are remarkably similar to Masonic rituals.

Have paused long enough to consider that maybe, just maybe, the exposure of LDSinc heresies and blasphemies is why Milt is being ‘raise up’? While I cannot vote for Milt in good faith to conservatism, I can vote against little barry bastard commie by voting for Milt ... and then for every conservative I can find to send to Washington to reign in his liberal mind. During the coming campaign, the vagaries of MormonISM will be aired to the fair thee well ... and that’s a good thing don’tchaknow. We might save the Republic for a little longer AND many may leave LDS inc when they learn the truth about the leaderships of that religion and its antiChristian teachings.

If you’re going to lambaste cults, be intellectually honest and include all of them, even the one based in ole imperial Rome.
What can I tell ya, I know a cult when I see one!

Either one religion is the true one, or they are all wrong.

- - - - -
If you are referring to denominations...fail.

Christianity is the true religion, if we agree on the basic doctrines (which Mormons do not) then we are bothers and sister in Christ, regardless of denomination.

I’m an Evangelical, there are Inmans who are Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist, Methodist, Orthodox, etc. We all agree with are Christians and Mormons are not.

Christ founded a faith, not a denomination. I can go into the Greek word usage if you wish.

I guess my problem is that I personally do not care what someones believes in the realm of religion. I’m not a big enough egomaniac to care. What ever floats one’s boat is fine by me. Maybe his style works in Napoleon Dynamite land, but in Soprano land we’re I live, the girl would have kicked his ass.

There is how the LDS appear ‘on paper’ and how they are in reality. Living in Utah was a real eye-opener for me. Paper and reality are vastly different, sadly.

I have seen nothing to indicate that Romney has ever acted to establish Mormonism as the State Religion.

Why would the Mormon "prophet" care to interject edicts to be imposed upon Massachusetts...for _______ sake???

C'mon think...How much power does a guv of an Eastern state about as far as you can get from Utah have...vs. how much power THE leader of the free world has in the White House...???

No temptations to exercise puppet power there, you claim?

Besides, who cares if Romney himself EVER would initiate anything from the White House on his own?

If you read the chart below, it shows that Romney really can't say "no" to his "prophet" in the Salt Lake City real "Western White House." The threat would not necessarily be Romney -- in and of himself -- but whatever radical Lds "prophet" is dictating something to him to enact!

And note: except for the first three statements, ALL of them were made by Lds leaders between the 1960s and 1980s...

Lds Leader Chronological 'Prophet' or Fundamental # (or Other Title) Overlap Areas: Could the President of the U.S. become a 'puppet' to an Lds 'Prophet?' (The Lds Prophets -- in their own words)
John Taylor Lds 'Prophet' #3 “The Almighty has established this kingdom with order and laws and every thing pertaining thereto…[so] that when the nations shall be convulsed, we may stand forth as saviours…and finally redeem a ruined world, not only in a religious but in a political point of view.” (Journal of Discourses, vol. 9, p. 342, April 13, 1862)
Orson Hyde President of the Lds Quorum of the 12 Apostles for 28 years (1847-1875) “What the world calls ‘Mormonism’ will rule every nation...God has decreed it, and his own right arm will accomplish it. This will make the heathen rage.” (Journal of Discourses, vol. 7, p. 53)
Heber J. Grant Lds 'Prophet' #7 "Elder Marion G. Romney recalled the counsel of President Heber J. Grant: 'My boy, you always keep your eye on the President of the Church, and if he ever tells you to do anything, and it is wrong, and you do it, the Lord will bless you for it.' Then with a twinkle in his eye, he said, 'But you don't need to worry. The Lord will never let his mouthpiece lead the people astray'" (in Conference Report, Oct. 1960, p. 78)." Cited in Official Lds publication Search the Commandments: Melchizedek Priesthood Personal Study Guide, p. 209 (1984)
Harold B. Lee Lds 'Prophet' #11 ...President Harold B. Lee said: 'We must learn to give heed to the words and commandments that the Lord shall give through his prophet, '...as if from mine own mouth...(D&C 21:4-5)...You may not like what comes from the authority of the Church. It may contradict your political views. It may contradict your social views. It may interfere with some of your social life. But if you listen to these things, as if from the mouth of the Lord himself..." Cited in official Lds publication Remember Me: Relief Society Personal Study Guide I, p. 27 (1989)
Spencer Kimball Lds 'Prophet' #12 "President Spencer W. Kimball said: '...We deal with many things which are thought to be not so spiritual; but all things are spiritual with the Lord, and he expects us to listen, and to obey..." (In Conference Report, Apr. 1977, p. 8; or Ensign, May 1977, p. 7) Cited in official Lds publication Come, Follow Me: Melchizedek Priesthood Personal Study Guide 1983, p.12 (1983)
What about Marion G. Romney, cousin to Mitt's father? Who was he in Lds hierarchy? (Title: 'President' - Top 3 of church as 2nd counselor to both #11 & #12 Lds 'prophets') "Elder Neal A. Maxwell has said: 'Following the living prophets is something that must be done in all seasons and circumstances. We must be like President Marion G. Romney, who humbly said, '..I have never hesitated to follow the counsel of the Authorities of the Church even though it crossed my social, professional, and political life' (Conference Report, April 1941, p. 123). There are, or will be moments when prophetic declarations collide with our pride or our seeming personal interests...Do I believe in the living prophet even when he speaks on matters affecting me and my specialty directly? Or do I stop sustaining the prophet when his words fall in my territory? if the latter, the prophet is without honor in our country! (Things As They Really Are, p. 73). Cited in official Lds publication, Search the Commandments: Melchizedek Priesthood Personal Study Guide, pp. 275-276 (1984)
Ezra Taft Benson Lds 'Prophet' #13 Benson speech given 2/26/80 @BYU. Summary: “…remember, if there is ever a conflict between earthly knowledge and the words of the prophet, you stand with the prophet…” (See excerpts re: 3 of 14 'fundamentals' below) Source: Fourteen Fundamentals in Following the Prophet
Benson (cont'd) Fundamental #5 5. The prophet is not required to have any particular earthly training or credentials to speak on any subject or act on any matter at any time. (My Q: Ya hear that Mitt Romney?)
Benson (cont'd) Fundamental #9 9. The prophet can receive revelation on any matter, temporal or spiritual. (My Q: Still listening, Mitt?)
Benson (cont'd) Fundamental #10 10. The prophet may advise on civic matters. (My Q: What say ye Mitt?)
B.H. Roberts LDS Historian and Seventy. Note: Roberts was an elected Democratic Congressman from Utah in 1898 -- but was NEVER seated by Congress because of grass roots uproar vs. Roberts, who took a THIRD simultaneous wife in the early 1890s. Grass roots America collected 7 MILLION signatures on 28 banners and presented them to Congress...in pre-mass media 1800s! “[T]he kingdom of God... is to be a POLITICAL INSTITUTION THAT SHALL HOLD SWAY OVER ALL THE EARTH; TO WHICH ALL OTHER GOVERNMENTS WILL BE SUBORDINATE AND BY WHICH THEY WILL BE DOMINATED.” The Rise and Fall of Nauvoo, 1900, p. 180
Mitt Romney as POTUS??? Aside from above prophetic impositions, why would Mitt not only honor what these 'prophets' have spoken, but what a future Lds 'prophet' may tell him to do? The Law of Consecration Oath Mitt Romney has sworn in the Mormon temple (done before marriage/sealing in temple): "You and each of you covenant and promise before God, angels, and these witnesses at this altar, that you do accept the law of consecration as contained in this, the book of Doctrine and Covenants [he displays the book], in that you do consecrate yourselves, your time, talents, and EVERYTHING with which the Lord has blessed you, or WITH which he MAY bless you, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for the building up of the kingdom of God on the earth and for the establishment of Zion." Source: What is an LDS Church/Mormon temple marriage/sealing? [Q: Please define 'Zion': The LDS PR Web site (lds.org) defines its primary meaning: "membership in the [LDS] church."]

I didn’t mention the ‘’ethnic cleansing’’ by slaughtering gnostics all over the place and the book bannings and burnings to ensure only the proper and useful writings and gospels were included in the Rome New Testament. I won’t mention the forgiveness of sins by the Church for the right amount of silver and gold or the torture and murder of the inconvenient and bothersome to the church hierarchy.
Nah.....that’s all in the past, ain’t it.
