July 25 2011: Is Mitt Romney The Father of Gay Marriage? Twenty-Four Reasons Why He Is (July 25, 201
RomneyExposed.com ^ | July 25, 2011

Posted on 04/30/2012 1:30:07 PM PDT by SoConPubbie

As Mitt Romney prepares for his second presidential campaign and gay marriage threatens to undermine America’s Judeo-Christian culture, there’s a raging debate about the role he played in instituting gay marriage in Massachusetts during his gubernatorial term. This is important because Governor Romney has positioned himself as a champion of traditional values and claims to have been an opponent of homosexual marriage his entire career.

When the Massachusetts Supreme Court issued a decision in favor of homosexual marriage, — the Goodridge case — Romney unilaterally ordered his state agencies to implement homosexual marriage in Massachusetts. The court did not order him to do this nor had the legislature codified this ruling. Combined with a promise by President Obama to repeal the federal Defense of Marriage Act, this action by Romney has led significantly contributed to the spread of homosexual marriage nationwide.

Make no mistake; Romney’s action was utterly illegal. In four different parts of the Massachusetts Constitution, it is clearly stated that only the legislature can change laws and one section specifically states that the marriage statutes are determined by the legislature, not by the courts. Even the Supreme Court itself stated that it could not order the legislature to act. All Romney had to do was to declare the court had no authority to enforce its unconstitutional opinion and ignore its decision.

But instead of doing that, Romney abruptly claimed the court opinion was now the law of the land and ordered his Town Clerks and Justices of the Peace to marry homosexuals — even though the legislature never acted to codify the ruling. Indeed, according to a Fox News/AP story, the attorney for the homosexual plaintiffs in Goodridge, held the view that the legislature would have to codify the Goodridge ruling:

No, he's your nominee, not mine.

Why would I vote or support somebody whose record is so similiar to Obama's that he guarantees Obama's re-election?

Not "our" nominee. He's a libtard's wet dream. No thanks. I'll vote for a Conservative like Virgil Goode. History shows that if you fail to support a Conservative, a liberal wins.

There may be some Republicans down ticket who are Conservative which I can support, but vote for the guy who spent millions attacking the Tea Party? No thanks. As a matter of fact, NFW!

Why not vote for and support an actual conservative and somebody who could actually be called a Republican, Virgil Goode, Constitution Party.

And that leads to a company called canvasdreams.com, which is a company that hides the owners of websites from the public. I am just wondering if you are pimping a democrat supported website without knowing it?

I didn’t vote for McCain in the last election because I thought (and still do) that he was a no good POS. That was my mistake and I won’t make it again. If for no other reason I believe Romney will be much better on National Defense than Obama. As for Romney’s record on Gay’s, who gives a $h!T !! Smart move

Thank you, yes it is.

why go to the polls at all, just stay home.

Drill here, drill now. This election is all but lost to the liberals such as Obammy, Mittens, those who support either - and so it is up to the grown ups to form a more perfect union of Conservatism. Will Conservatives win this election? Not the top spot, no, but we will be there for 2016 while the GOP joins the Whigs in the dustbin of history.

And yes, America will be damaged by whichever of the two commies, Obammy or Mittens you support - and if you support one, you politically support the other - but America will survive this tragedy of a false dichotomy and in another four years Conservatives will have a new Conservative party to rally around. One free of mushy, fudgepacking RINOs like Rove and Bloomberg, and Graham and, well, especially Mittens.

You’ve gotten it totally backward. Chamberlain was not a realist, he was a “head in the sand” kook. The realist was Churchill who offered nothing but “Blood, toil, tears and sweat”. We have to get our heads out of the sand in order to beat Obama. No amount of idealistic dreaming will prevent the election of anyone but Obama or Romney.

The SoConPubbie posts this screed two or three times a day, uses the same first post, same chart and same arguments.

Mittens maybe a flipper, a spineless, wimp with no code that a conservative would recognize, but he isn't a communist, mooselimb, rabid anti-gun nut, with chicago thug connections and he doesn't want to destroy the USA.

There are a load of FReepers that hate mittens, and while he is far from my ideal, given the choices, the country can't survive another 4 years of this communism.

The only bright spot in the Obama nightmare has been the surge of conservatives elected in 2010 as the not so conservative became frightened of the real Obama. Seems like Romney and Obama are both for The US of Sodom and Gomorrah.

So the choice is to vote for Romney, destroy the GOP base or just not vote and maybe have a more stacked Senate and House against liberal evil - which is personified in BOTH Obama and Romney.

BTW, the entire primary process should be nullified because of what Virginia did.

I am referring to the website that you posted at the top of this thread. www.romneyexposed.com. It is not my job to explain Romney’s past, but if you are going to use sources that hide who is funding them, I won’t bother to read them either. Some of what you say about Romney is true, some is exaggerated, but we all know what Obama is, and that Romney is probably going to be the nominee. Everyone on here has read your threads a thousand times, and some of us knew in 2007 what Romney is. But unless you have an alternative that has a chance to compete, continuing to post the same things a thousand times just makes people ignore what you post. You know, one of these times you might have some new information, and noone will even read it, I’m sure you know about the boy who cried wolf, right?

“Smart move why go to the polls at all, just stay home.”

That is tempting, and would be the first such temptation since Ford-Carter in 1976, but there is no way I would miss the opportunity to vote against not just one, but TWO fathers of state sponsored abortion at the same time! How cool is that? It is like rolling a grenade under a table where both Heinrich Himmler and Lavrenti Beria are seated together. BOOM!

There is no way I am going to miss the party.
