Days after damaging video surfaces, EPA regional chief Armendariz resigns

Al Armendariz said Monday morning that he had submitted a letter of resignation on Sunday.

Armendariz was already a lightning rod for conservative critics of the EPA in Texas before last week, when a video became public in which Armendariz spoke of "crucifying" oil and gas companies that broke the law.

Members of Congress and Texas officials jumped on Armendariz's words as proof that he had run the EPA's regional office as an anti-industry zealot.

The environmental engineer, on leave from a professor post at Southern Methodist University, sent a letter Monday to his friends and supporters:

EPA Soldier: I'm afraid we lost them, sir.

Cargill: Damn it! Well, then you find 'em, and you get 'em back in the dome! And to make sure nobody else gets out, I want roving death squads around the perimeter 24-7! I want 10,000 tough guys, and I want 10,000 soft guys to make the tough guys look tougher! And here's how I want them arranged: tough, soft, tough, tough, soft, tough, soft, soft, tough, tough, soft, soft, tough, soft, tough, soft!

Soldier: Sir, I'm afraid you've gone mad with power.

Cargill: Of course I have. Have you ever tried going mad without power? It's boring, no one listens to you.

Not good enough. The guy’s quitting because he spoke the truth. The den of vipers AKA “EPA” needs to be cleaned out from bottom to top.

They don’t just do this “crucifying” crap to companies, they do it to private citizens who merely try to develop their own land for a home to live in.

What is an environmental engineer?

Do you have to take Differential Equations for that?

‘Becoming a distraction’ seems to be the phrase of choice as the light of truth is shined on these thugs.

At a guess, they’re going to blame all of Obama’s energy failures on him as a scapegoat.

Al Van Jonesed himself.

LOL, good summation. It seems incredible that it takes something this obvious to get them in hot water.

Lisa jackson with US flags but

"If you don't pass this legislation, then ... the EPA is going to have to regulate in this area," the official said. "And it is not going to be able to regulate on a market-based way, so it's going to have to regulate in a command-and-control way, which will probably generate even more uncertainty."

Uh, excuse me but isn’t that rather like saying that in another generation the Dodo will be extinct?

They were shocked to learn that children do chores on farms. So, NO, they do not know where their food and energy come from. They are cultural midgets.

Ran his statement thru the disgronificator; results below:

“Dear Friends,

“I have been honored to serve as your regional administrator for EPA’s region 6 office the last 2 and ½ year”.

-It’s hard to beat a government job when it comes to an inflated salary, amazing benefits, and really great perks.

“I never once forgot that the reason I was appointed was to serve you, to act as your voice, and to work day and night to better protect the environment and your safety.”

- Hope you’re enjoying your gas prices!

“Today I am resigning my position as regional administrator.”

-Damn: I was hoping to string this gig out until at least 2016.

“This was not something that was asked of me by Administrator Jackson or the White House”.

-Lisa Jackson and the White House made it clear to me that if I didn’t bail, I’d better change my identity and get plastic surgery

“It is a decision I made myself.”

-Those guys who deliver messages from the Administration really are surprisingly large, to say nothing of amazingly persuasive.

“I had become too much of a distraction, and no one person is more important than the incredible work being done by the rest of the team at EPA.”

-Nothing pisses off Obama more than when one of his underlings reveals his true intentions.

“I leave with an incredible sense of pride for the things the Agency accomplished and it was fantastic to be a part of the effort.”

- I thought academics was a racket - but it doesn’t hold a candle to this bureaucratic scam!

“Administrator Jackson has overseen a renaissance in the Agency and it is again the global leader in environmental protection.”

-Finally, after 8 years of Bush, we’ve got industry and business grabbing their ankles again.

“President Obama has been incredibly supportive of me and my work and the Agency.”

-President Obama couldn’t have been more gracious in introducing me to Van Jones, Reverend Wright, his grandmother and all the rest of the crew under the bus.

“He’ll undoubtedly go down as the most environmental president we have ever had”.

Enjoy coal, petroleum, and natural gas while you can, suckers - they’re goin’ down!

“Thank you all for letting me into your homes and communities, and showing me the challenges you face every day from pollution and lack of infrastructure.”

-Nice job trying to keep me out of your homes and communities; be grateful you weren’t one of the first five I ran across in your town.

“Your stories are now part of my fabric and the fabric of the Agency.”

- Whatever - once you start making a living slinging crap, it’s tough to stop.

“Best always,”

-Screw the lot of you,

Al Armendariz

Cultural midgets or intellectual midgets?

Cultural, in the sense that they have a stunted idea of what is going on in the real American world. Intellectual, too, but more in the sense of devoid of true wisdom.

I liked what Charles Krauthammer said after the Fox All Stars discussed this and he was asked: “Did anyone have a good day on this?”

“The Centurions”.

"Administrator Jackson has overseen a renaissance in the Agency and it is again the global leader in environmental protection. President Obama has been incredibly supportive of me and my work and the Agency. "

Note that Al Hammerhead says Bobo has been "incredibly supportive" of Al crucifying energy growth in the US during the two years between the video and Al's resignation.

Personally, I think Al lifted the "crucify" smack-talk from Barry during one of their early meetings.

Maybe not word-for-word, but the whole thing sounds like an unwritten "mission statement" that was supposed to remain off the radar.
