Mitt Romney, evangelicals seek marriage of convenience

Mitt Romney and the Republican Party's sizable bloc of evangelical voters are about to engage in a marriage of political convenience.

The presumptive GOP presidential nominee's march to the nomination proceeded largely without strong backing from the conservative Christian community.

But with Romney now the only hope that conservatives have to beat President Barack Obama in November, a partnership has begun to jell.

Gary Rose, the chairman of the politics and government department at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn., agreed. "Santorum was their guy, but more important is their agenda of dislodging Obama," he said. "I don't believe they'll stay home."

It won't be enough.

Their are enough Evangelicals who still have their principles, conscience, ethics, and morals intact, that they won't go for it. Couple that with a sizable minority of independents that won't hold their nose to vote for such a lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberal, and we are looking at a loss to Obama this year that will make McCain's loss look like a win.

And who can blame the values voters when the records of Obama and Romney line up so closely?

I will not now or ever vote for another liberal.
I will not vote for Romney.

Did you read the article. “Family man is their thing.” He meets that criteria. You see, Newt didn’t. Those divorces. Never mind his solid ideas and real solutions. Gotta have that family man. Sarah Palin didn’t cut it either, because women are supposed to stay home.

Yup, I got called a Freak tonight.

I consider the name-calling a badge of honor.

If we weren't over the target with Romney, we'd not be getting all the flack.

Don't need to read the article Onyx.

I'm an Evangelical, and all of my closest friends are Evangelical, and none of us look at something so loosely defined as "He's a family man".

We care about the issues; like Abortion, Gay Marriage, Taxes, Global Warming, Cap-N-Trade, 2nd Amendment, limited Government, you know, all those things that conservatives care about.

This is just more hopeful agit-prop and Pro-Romney propaganda, nothing more.

“I will not vote for Romney.”

Nobody is asking you to — we merely want you to acknowledge the result of your actions — reelection of Obama.

Repeat after me: “I, svcw, want to give Obama a second term, rather than elect Romney”. Simple.

Pushing the idea that evangelicals will seek a marriage of convenience with Romney furthers the MSM line that serious Christians are phonies and hypocrites. No surprise, then, that the MSM love this line of attack. They’ll be happy if Romney wins; they’ll be happier if 0bama wins; and they’re always happy to attack conservative Christians as fakes.

So?

I'm not a compromising ABO voter, I'm an ABL (Anybody But a Liberal) voter.

I don't vote for lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberals, like Mitt Romney and I don't vote for Crypto-Communists like Obama.

I also don't engage in Moral Jeopardy games based on Chicken Little "Sky-is-Falling" scenarios where someone says our World as we know it is going to end tomorrow.

Well, that Bob Vander Plaats from Iowa who launched Santorum is quoted along with Gary Bauer, so they’re talking about approving Romney’s running mate..LOL.

Nope, that blame falls on Mitt Romney and his lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberal record, pretend-conservatives, RINOS, the GOP-E, and so-called conservatives who believed the nonsense that Mitt Romney was inevitable and believed all the lies that Mitt Romney told about both Newt and Rick.

Well, both you and I have seen a boat-load of so-called principled conservatives sell their soul this election season and support that lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberal Mitt Romney.

This should not be surprising to anyone at this stage of the game, just more Party over Principle types.

If you think Romney will win, it is delusional.
BHO campaign slogan will be “why vote for Romney when you already have me”.
BHO will say “look at Romney’s record, ok now why would you want to change horses in the middle of the stream”
Romney as the GOP nominee will guarantee the reelection of BHO for a second term.
I want people to recognize because they fell for the “only Romney can win”, are the ones who actually propelled Romney to the nomination.

everyone has their priorities I guess. It will be interesting to see what happens if he wins without overwhelming evangelical support. That would be a real game changer.

I just love the way the GOP tries to make conservatives into such simplistic tools for the establishment.

It is like they think we are the DNC’s dummy ghetto vote. If they just say something like “family man”, by george, they got us all wrapped up in the watermelon corner with the UN, Mittens and Algore.

Good luck with that.

"I don't believe they'll stay home."

I'll take that bet. Romney has no chance in a fair election. The conservative base is not going to turn out for him. We will vote down-ticket, but Romney is right there with Bush1.2, Dole and McCain in the history book.

That's what happens when the GOP runs a moderate or liberal.

We don’t buy the premise of your stupid assertion. The GOP-e handed Obama the victory the moment they ALL got behind Romney to shove him down our throats.

THE Ruling Class is to blame for Obama being handed a Dictatorship. We principled Conservatives have no blame in the handing of Obama a permanent seat of power. That honor belongs to the Ruling Class who took Obama’s hand picked opponent to run against Conservative candidates whom they worked together to destroy, to enable Romney the nomination. All done FOR THE PURPOSE of eliminating the relevance of Conservatives from the GOP forever.

We aren’t drinking that poison being offered, nor do we accept any responsibility for Obama’s trouncing of Romney this November because we are voting only for staunch Conservatives.

Romney was chosen to be the losing candidate to Obama, and shoved down our throats. So you can shove your inspid notion that we Conservatives are responsible for Obama’s win in November up yer piehole. We do not accept or buy it.
