Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told The Daily Caller in a video interview that he is dropping out of the Republican presidential race 'probably about Wednesday' May 2 and endorsing former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
Gingrich, alongside his wife Callista, said the GOP's message in the general election should be, "Can you afford four more years like this? Not complicated. Do you want this much unemployment, this high a gasoline price, this much deficit spending? You have a great president but if you don't want this, you better vote for somebody new."

Why in the world is it our duty to support McCain and now Romney? Maybe McCain lost and Romney may well lose, because they are liberal candidates who don't hold the principals of our founders.
You can dang well bet I'll vote for every conservative for every position on the Ballot, nobody is talking about not voting or staying home.

We've been playing in their sandbox for years trying to move them right....instead they go Democrate.....so all this talk of getting involved doing the same thing isn't getting the job done....so there has to be another approach that's workable.
What I do know is any organization to get a conservative IN and running has to come from outside the GOP and "their" friends....not so sure that's possible for they are all entrenched and ready to slam down any that rise above the surface in "their" territory.
Back to Tzun Tzu. Attack where weak, bypass strength.
Support is what they have to have, financially, and for their egos. Make them irrelevent to what is going on.

Sounds good...but how do you do that when they are financed so heavily by corperate entities.....Money IS the issue. Most with great wealth eventually seek Power of some degree or another......so where are the wealthy, powerful, conservatives who would run, would willing put their families on the line....and this to change a nation?
I wonder....are there such men or woman anymore? I do think we've seen the last of them frankly.
After enough losses, the money goes away. Or moves to a winner.
Only a conservative can win the large conservative base and conservative leaning indys in the US. As much as they hate it.
We don't have to do much, except vote our principles, and let nature and God do the rest.

It's not flimsy evidence, it's extremely common for the opposing party to win mid-terms. And when Republican Presidents go liberal, the White House switches to Democrat the next cycle. See Bush Sr. or 2nd term of Bush Jr. Whatever damage Obama can do, it will be less than a non-gridlocked Democrat president will do in 2017-2020.
What many Freepers don't seem to understand is that Obama isn't some unique enemy, it's the entire left-wing socialist Democrat party that's the enemy. Have you forgotten about Pelosi? There are an army of leftists ready to take over Washington. Obama is much more of their follower than he is a leader. Any Democrat president will be as bad as him. Even the non-gridlocked Bill Clinton in 1993-1994 or Jimmy Carter were not really any better than Obama either.
Unless Romney magically becomes conservative, then you will get another Democrat takeover in 2014 and 2016. The only solution to this country's ills is a Reagan conservative in the mold of Gingrich, Palin, West, etc. They failed to win this year. If Romney loses, they have another chance in 2016. If he wins, we're looking at 2020 as the next chance to save the country.
Those of us who've decided to deal with reality and vote for Romney have been called everything in the book: “Romneybots”, “Romneywhores”, “idiots” etc. With Romney we have a chance at saving this country, with Obama, 2016 won't even matter...we'll effectively be finished as a country. Again, I wish Romney wasn't the nominee, but he is...this is reality.
Not necessarily on this thread, but on similar ones lately, there is more outrage, and hatred for Romney (and what he “might do”) than Obama and his KNOWN record!! Several FReepers (I won't mention any names, but you can check for yourself) have it as their mission to push anything that is negative towards Romney. Think about this; the there is more outrage at Romney than Obama!?!? Sorry, but this borders on being sick.
Those of us who've decided to vote ABO have been slimed badly on these threads lately. Along with the labels I noted above, we've also been called “trolls” and “RINOs” for our decision. All i can say is, at least we “Trolls” are trying to remove a known Marxist from his position of power to save the country. One could make a reasonable argument that those who've decided to: 1) not vote, 2) vote third party, or 3)write-in are effectively aiding a known Marxist. As the old sayig goes: "You can wish in one hand and crap in the other, and see which one gets filled first." Whether we like it or not, our choices in this next election are Romney and Obama.

I get this but I’m not so certain there are enough conservatives, at least voting....and a whole lot of conservatives with liberal thinking voting. The whole nations a mess of division and are not getting the facts. I sooo hate our media and the pundits who have driven this primary and now the election.

I have about 2-3 days' more staying power with Newt, and then that will be it. I really don't like the way he left his supporters hanging, all the rumor and inuendo, especially people in NC and TX, who were and are still ready to work and vote for him.
I have one teeny weeny tiny hope that Newt is setting up the media bigtime, and instead of resigning, will make a major startling announcement at his news conference, whenever that is.
I am very disheartened and disillusioned, as are many. Who, after all, leads the winter soldiers, who don't count the cost and are ready to stand forth on a moment's notice?
This is a failure of American conservative leadership, from the conservative media, including the likes of Mark Levin, through and up to Newt.
There is no George Washington amongst us... and the saddest thing of all, they seem to depart the race when financial considerations loom the largest...

No, a plurality, 42.3%. And we're still waiting to see if or when he'll get the 1,144 delegates necessary to win the nomination.
