Government's answer to "Fast and Furious" records requests: Blank pages

For more than a year, CBS News has been investigating the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms' "Fast and Furious" operation and related cases that also employed the controversial tactic of "gunwalking." With Justice Department officials refusing all interview requests to date, CBS News requested numerous public documents through the Freedom of Information Act.

So far, all of the requests that have been answered have been denied in part or in full.

This week, we received a partial response to a request made more than a year ago. It asked for communications involving "Project Gunrunner," the umbrella program for Fast and Furious, from 2010 through April 2011. Specifically, it sought any communications to which any of the following top Justice officials were a party: Attorney General Eric Holder; Lanny Breuer, Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division; Kevin Carwile, chief of the Capital Case Unit; and Deputy Assistant Attorney Generals Bruce Schwarz and Kenneth Blanco.

The response includes mostly-blank pages.

Separately the FBI has denied CBS News all information requested regarding the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. Two Fast and Furious weapons were found at his murder scene in December 2010. The FBI stated that the information was withheld because the murder investigation is ongoing. That investigation has now entered its second year.

Tactics of agenda-driven, totalitarian murderers.

“My concern, Mr. Chairman, is that there’s been a lot said about Fast and Furious, and perhaps mistakes were made,” Feinstein said. “But I think this hunt for blame doesn’t really speak about the problem. And the problem is, anybody can walk in and buy anything.”

No one should ever expect the government to admit or implicate themselves about wrong doing...except maybe Richard Nixon.

CBS is actually pursuing something that might reflect poorly on the Chosen One???? I don’t believe it! Maybe the media is even starting to realize that they, right along with the rest of us, will be destined to fail if this administration is allowed to continue unchecked. We can only hope. As things stand, the next election could turn into the landslide that was Jimmy Carter/Ronald Reagan if the media had even one shred of honesty.

CBS expects answers when even the Congress cannot get them?

CBS is complaining, but have you heard on any of their newscasts of the refusal? What are they doing about it. The Media brought down Nixon, are they trying to bring down Obama? I don’t think so.

If CBS had the goods on Obama and Holder would they announce it, would they push it. I doubt it. They would hide it. They are just mad because they are getting stonewalled, they arent really looking to bring the light on about this.

Hey CBS, why don’t you try reporting the news, instead of trying to write it?
Maybe, if you weren’t spending so much time covering for these criminals, you could actually help the situation.

I’ve thought for a while, that one of the networks, after much handwringing...would decide to try to save their sorry arse and start vetting The Golden Child.

I’ve been playing a game with myself—who is going to go all-in—My guess is Charlie Rose. Or Pissy Chrissy. The first, to pump some air into his deflated uber-ego....the latter, because he’s lost his boy crush. And you know how those girls can get when they are OTR!

The problem, I find, is even getting the ability to challenge them [government] about their doings.
For example, I have found a state statue that is in violation of the State’s Constitution, in multiple ways*, and cannot find a reliable way to get “standing” that does not involve violating the statute and fighting from a position of weakness. (i.e. Intentionally being charged for the act indicates that you believe the act to have *some* validity/authority.)

So the problem is even bigger than simply not implicating themselves; which (as a collection of individuals I would grant as legitimate via the 5th) but that they invalidate/prohibit investigation, the entry of evidence, and even (I suppose) indictment. What we have is a system that says: due process is whatever we deign it to be at this particular moment. If you will, it is that legally speaking they believe not that facts are stubborn things, but that they are entitled to their own facts: and thusly due process, the steps (and execution) being fact, is subverted.

Only investigative techniques suitable for investigating terrorists or organized crime lords will reveal the facts concerning the Administration, for the obvious reasons.
