SANFORD, Fla. -- City Manager Norton Bonaparte Jr. acknowledges that he put pressure last week on Police Chief Bill Lee to step down over the Trayvon Martin case, though he stopped short of saying whether he threatened to fire Lee.
During a discussion with NBC News on Wednesday, Bonaparte said he held frank conversations with Lee.
I did suggest, Bonaparte said, for the community to move forward, that he consider resigning.
Asked whether the suggestion constituted an ultimatum, Bonaparte demurred.
"The chief of police, as all of the city department directors, serves at the pleasure of the city manager and can be fired at any time for no cause, Bonaparte said, adding that he and Lee came to an agreement.

NAACP says keep Bonaparte
Mixed feelings over city manager’s job, but not racism

Which community?
The community for which has a giant pot leaf behind his feet back.
THAT HAND! Is he trying to mimick Bonaparte!?
AHA! My suggestion yesterday that the reason that the Council decided not to accept the Chief’s resignation had more to do with (now that facts are coming out about this case) the fear of a lawsuit than anything else, is sounding like I hit the nail on the head.
Mixed feelings....Not racism
Who are they trying to fool?
Well, Bonaparte is clearly advertising for more letters and emails to fill up his in box. Maybe he should conclude that he is a distraction and should resign so the community can move forward...
I think the former police chief has a big lawsuit to file...
Norton Bonaparte? With a name like that, is he from Haiti?
???
Haitian-American Norton Bonaparte Mixed in Racially Charged Murder Case
March 24, 2012
SANFORD, USA (defend.ht) - Haitian-American Norton Bonaparte Jr has found himself in the middle of a racially charged killing of an unarmed Central Florida teenager walking home in a gated neighborhood.
IIRC the Haitians murdered just about every Napoleon supporter, code for White and every Mixed race person they could find when they had their glorious revolution. Kinda worked out like Detroit revolution 150 years later.
He used to work in the sewer.
I don’t get it. Wasn’t it the district attorney who made the decision? What the heck?
Ah, just what I figured: The City Manager is one of Holder’s people.
There were ups and downs in Haitian history.
I spent a summer working in the Bahamas in 1954, and at the end of the summer I visited Haiti for a week with friends who knew it pretty well. At that time, the ruling class Haitians were the ones with the lighter skins, and the really dark skinned Haitians were mostly living in poverty in tiny stick and grass huts in the country.
“Ah, just what I figured: The City Manager is one of Holders people.”
The reality is far worse because we are talking about an immigrant from what is arguably the most degraded, corrupt, kleptocratic and violent “nations” on earth.
You can take a man out of Haiti, but you can’t take the Haitian out of the man.
There is one this immigrant from a Turd World pool of limitless cess got right: This brought disturbing things to the surface. Things like the overt “Kill Whitey” racism egregiously on display in the black community.
Make that in black communities across America, not just Sanford.
Sadly, what you say is true.
Look at the picture it speaks volumns.
A picture is worth a thousand words.
Get rid of the city manager. He’s more concerned with race politics than with justice and truth. Who needs that in charge of the city??? He’s not elected. He’s an administrator and usually city managers are corrupt as heck because they don’t have to answer to voters and are all powerful.
Nice work, dork!
You should resign in disgrace.
