I am not sure what makes anyone think Newt has a chance in TX - he has not been well received here and races like Grant Stinchfield vs. Ken marchant show that republicans want to kick the old guard out. Newt is old guard.
Newt is to republican voters what Kay Bailey was - insider. She has retired...before a second defeat. I liked her she is good on foreign policy and many conservative ideas - but she is a big spender too.

Respectfully, he is not. If he were, the Gop-e, the media and the “conservative” commentariat would not be insanely committed to his destruction. They love the establishment old guard.
Now, you don’t wish to vote for Newt— perhaps you prefer the socialist Romney- that’s fine— your franchise and all that.
But, there is absolutely nothing “old guard” about Newt.
