"The War on Terror is Over" Says Those in the Administration
Weekly Standard ^ | April 23, 2012 | Daniel halper

Posted on 04/24/2012 2:57:03 PM PDT by lbryce

In the wake of the Arab Spring, the Obama administration is grappling with how to handle Islamists, radical adherents to Islam. Particularly, the issue has come to the fore in regards to Egypt, which, as Reuel Marc Gerecht notes, "is now certain" to elect "an Islamist" as its leaders the next time the Egyptian people go to the polls.

But some in the Obama administration are now seeing things differently.

"The war on terror is over," a senior official in the State Department official tells the National Journal. "Now that we have killed most of al Qaida, now that people have come to see legitimate means of expression, people who once might have gone into al Qaida see an opportunity for a legitimate Islamism."

This new outlook has, in the words of the National Journal, come from a belief among administration officials that "It is no longer the case, in other words, that every Islamist is seen as a potential accessory to terrorists."

The National Journal explains:

The new approach is made possible by the double impact of the Arab Spring, which supplies a new means of empowerment to young Arabs other than violent jihad, and Obama's savagely successful military drone campaign against the worst of the violent jihadists, al Qaida.

For the president himself, this new thinking comes from a "realiz[ation that] he has no choice but to cultivate the Muslim Brotherhood and other relatively 'moderate' Islamist groups emerging as lead political players out of the Arab Spring in Egypt, Tunisia and elsewhere."

This new outlook is radically different than what was expressed under President George W. Bush immediately after September 11, 2001.

Ask yourself this question; Can the the war on terror really, actually be over if The Cockroach-in-Chief is still running things, still continues to defy the Constitution, wreak havoc, strike fear in our hearts and minds, vilify America, terrorize Americans with just what is it that he is up to? No need to respond. We all know the answer.

The Obama bureaucracy hard at work going through the machinations of destruction he's laid out for the nation. The War on Terror is Over.(!) (That pantywaist, wet dream of a declaration.) The comment is much too maudlin even to laugh at...

I honestly had to look to see if this was one of Mr. Semmens’ (tip of the hat, sir) excellent semi-satire pieces.

This administration has left reckless in its rear view mirror and is now certifiably insane.

No, because they still have to body search terrified little 4 year old girls in case they're hiding handguns. Duh!

The war on Muslim terrorists was done and over long ago. The war on American terrorists - aka Joe Sixpack and family - is just starting to heat up!

You see, 0bama is not a Muslim, repeat, NOT a Muslim. It's just not true, so don't say that he is.

It's just that every chance he gets, he shows that he really prefers Islam and Muslims to the citizens of his lately adopted country, the United States, and does everything he can to further the interests of Muslims and Islam, even at the expense of those of the citizens of his lately adopted country, the United States. Nor is he at all shy about showing where is true sympathies lie; in fact, he's quite brazen and contemptuous about it.

So please, let's not have any more of your “0bama is a Muslim” business because, as you can see, his actions speak louder than words.

Sheer utter NONSENSE. islam is the problem not a few adherents.
The goal of islam is to destroy Western Civilization and rule the world.

"The War on Terror is Over" Says Those in the Administration

If so, it's because of the policies Bush enacted, many of which Obama campaigned against.

Published April 14, 2012 Associated Press DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan – Taliban militants armed with automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenades battled their way into a prison in northwest Pakistan on Sunday, freeing close to 400 prisoners, including at least 20 described by police as “very dangerous” insurgents, authorities and the militants said. The raid by more than 100 fighters was a dramatic display of the strength of the insurgency gripping the nuclear-armed country.

18th April, 2012 WHAT is one to make of the coordinated attack that the Taliban launched on seven sites in Kabul and three sites in Paktia, Logar and Nangarhar? It was certainly the most dramatic and widespread assault in the Afghan capital since an attack in September on the US embassy and Nato headquarters. It took the Afghan national security forces and their Nato mentors some 18 hours to clear out the last of the 36 insurgents involved in the attack in Kabul. An Afghan spokesman explained that so much time was taken only because the Afghan security forces were anxious to avoid civilian casualties. They did acknowledge that while 35 of the 36 insurgents in Kabul were killed, eight members of the Afghan security forces and four civilians were killed while another 40 security personnel and 25 civilians were wounded.

Monday, Apr. 23, 2012 As many as 60 Canadians have journeyed abroad to train as al-Qaeda terrorists, this country’s spy chief revealed as he sounded a warning over the group’s shift to a much harder to detect “lone-wolf” style of attack.

There are many other recent articles on active terrorist action against the United States and our allies. When one side of a war stops fighting while the other side continues attacking, the war is over, the other side has won, and we have “peace”. Does any sane person want peace under the terms that the terrorists will impose? A cost only that Obama and others who hate freedom are willing to pay?

Has anyone told the terrorists that the war is over and that they should stop their killings and destruction?

The Dept. of State is totally clueless and useless. Time to clean house there, and cowards will be the first to go.

Who would have thought Jack Nickelson’s portrayal of the POTUS in “Mars Attacks” would be a model and not a parody?

Right now I’d take Jack Nicholson as the SOB Colonel in “A Few Good Men” as president instead of the coward-in-chief we have.

Dan Simmons' Time Traveler has a much-better characterization of the situation.
