Romney Still Needs Almost 500 Delegates to Clinch GOP Nomination
CBS NEWS ^ | /12/2012 | Jennifer DePinto

Even though Romney's chief rival, Rick Santorum, has suspended his campaign, states continue to hold primaries. There are five contests on April 24th with 219 delegates at stake; but even if Romney won every single delegate that day he would be far short of 1,144. Wyoming and Missouri are holding conventions before April 24th where Romney may pick up some delegates but even winning all of them wouldn't bring him much closer to the magic number.

Looking ahead, Romney would need to win about 80 percent of the delegates available in the April and May events to possibly clinch on May 29th when Texas holds its primary with 152 delegates at stake. If Romney won 90 percent of the delegates in April and through May 22nd he may still come up short of the 1,144 and need delegates from Texas' primary on May 29th.

Even those counted “for” ROmney are NOT FOR Romney.

Romney the Backstabber has used his usual dirt and
tricks anticipating coronation to
Emperor Etch-a-Sketch.

Not gonna happen.

And soon he will be exposed for more of his tricks.

Stinking Liberal Romney is intentionally LOSING this election, and putting Obama into his second term.
May the rest of the delegates all go to Newt.

It's not in the Romney money-bag, by a long shot !!!

Pulling out has-been RINO establishment endorsements at this time must be irritating the RinoMNEY 1st round voters to no end !!!!!!!

Filthy Lucre from the denizens of evil.

That article is the epitome of bias. Gingrich is not mentioned anywhere in the article. So Romney has to clinch the delegates, but his competition doesn't even get his name mentioned. Shows how afraid the media is of Newt.

Not only is Fox News all but ignoring Newt and what coverage they did give him was demeaning but now the left wing rags are doing the same. The left wing KNOWS Romney is a weak candidate that will lose to Obama and the right wing knows that Newt is a threat to the establishment and won’t walk in lock step with them..Newt gets a double whammy.

CodeToad, pray Newt wins Delaware tomorrow and does well in the other primaries. I would send him my entire months pay if I could.
Isn’t it amazing that out of all the candidates the RNC could have picked they chose the very one that could not run against socialized medicine? Willard introduced it. It was one of the main issues we wanted to over turn and here we pick a idiot that did the same thing..go figure

Who do you think the “super” delegates will support? My guess is that they won’t go against the establishment on this. Romney is going to be the nominee. I’ll be voting Cthulhu this year.

It is easy to imagine that uncommitted delegates and others do not prefer Romney over any other possible choice.

What is much harder to imagine is that all of these non-Romney votes will coalesce into a bloc for Newt.

The dream here on FR is that everyone who is not happy with Mitt will suddenly (tomorrow? later?) all vote for Newt.

I find this hard to believe for the simple reason that people have not yet voted for Newt.

What is it that has suddenly caused Newt to be much more appealing?

I can't think of anything.

Your best bet is to post the question on the state message board -
