Problem is though, cops would spend all their time rounding up illegals and doing nothing else...in the beginning anyway.
They do it in MEXICO. Been there, stopped by the policia armed with REAL black guns. Thank goodness I had my business colleagues who were local. You don’t go anywhere down there without your passport. Funny, we here in America can’t do that...
“Rounding up illegals” implies going out and looking for them.
The survey question was simply about verification during traffic stops, no different than the standard check for open warrants. So it is more “holding onto illegals after they’ve committed a crime” than “rounding up illegals.”
Of course, I actually DO favor “rounding up illegals” via a bounty system utilizing retired LEOs and charging the costs to employers and landlords who failed to verify immigration status.
