Verona, PA - While Mitt Romney tries to tell heartland voters that he's one of them; his record speaks of a northeast liberal governor who tried to trample on Second Amendment rights. As Governor, Mitt Romney Targeted Gun Owners For Higher Taxes

In 2003, Then-Gov. Romney Increased Payments From Gun Owners To The State, Calling It A Fee Instead Of A Tax. "If you own a gun or a boat, kill termites or teach horseback riding for a living or just want to learn to drive, you may have to pay more for a state permit." (John J. Monahan, "Romney Asks For Fee Hikes," Telegram & Gazette, 2/28/03)

"Romney Proposes Raising [The State Firearm Registration Fee] From $25 To $75 On The 200,000 State Residents Who Hold Firearm Identification Cards."(Joanna Weiss, "Romney Proposals On Fees Draw Fire," The Boston Globe, 2/28/03) Romney Denied The Additional Funds Gun Owners Paid To The State Was A Tax, Since Only "A Subset Of The Population" - I.E. Gun Owners - Had To Pay. Romney: "I'm not going to try and be the dictionary here, in terms of defining the difference between a fee and a tax. For me, generally, a fee is something which applies to a subset of the population. ... A tax is something which is far more broadly applied." (Ken Maguire, "Governor Says Proposed New, Higher Fees Are Not Taxes," The Associated Press, 2/27/03)

Bay State Gun Owners Recognized Romney's Fee As A Tax Increase

When Romney Raised Sportsmen's License Fees, The Massachusetts Conservation Alliance Stated "We Consider It A Tax On Hunters." "Environmentalists and hunters said they are not only concerned about the potential loss of federal aid, but the fact that budget-makers would take fees assessed to hunters and spend the money as they wish. 'We consider it a tax on hunters,' said James Wallace, a spokesman for the Massachusetts Conservation Alliance, a newly formed group of sportsmen and wildlife preservationists." (Erik Arvidson, "Feds Warn State On Improper Use Of Fees," Lowell Sun, 10/3/03)

A Gun Owners Action League Spokesman Called The Fee Increase "A Tax On Your Rights." "Some constituent groups are already questioning whether Romney's specific fees are fair. James Wallace, spokesman for the Gun Owners Action League, said his organization considers the statefirearm registration fee - which Romney proposes raising from $25 to $75 - to be a tax on the 200,000 state residents who hold firearm identification cards. 'It's not a service,' Wallace said. 'It's a tax on your rights. We're not getting anything.'" (Joanna Weiss, "Romney Proposals On Fees Draw Fire," The Boston Globe, 2/28/03)

The Gun Owners Action League's Jim Wallace: "It's Not A Fee. It's A Tax On An Individual's Right To Bear Arms In Massachusetts."(Ken Maguire, "Governor Says Proposed New, Higher Fees Are Not Taxes," The Associated Press, 2/27/03) Gun Owners Action League Executive Director Michael Yacino: "In General, The Government Has Failed To Meet Its Obligations And Now It's Passing The Buck. ... It Just Shows They Don't Have Any Answers."(Casey Ross, "Fee Hikes More Than Nickels And Dimes," The Patriot Ledger, 7/9/03)

After Gun License Fees Skyrocketed Under Romney, One Massachusetts Gun Owner Said Voting For Him Was "The Biggest Mistake Of My Life" - "I've Been Kicking (Myself) For Voting For That Jerk." "Donn A. Boulanger voted for W. Mitt Romney because he liked the Republican candidate's stance against raising taxes. But, as he stared down the barrel of a $75 increase in the fee for his gun license yesterday, Boulanger called the vote 'the biggest mistake of my life.' He said, 'I bought his deal, but in the last six months, I've been kicking (myself) for voting for that jerk. He's trying to solve the state's

Say what you like. I will continue to campaign against all liberals, including Romney, and I will never vote for a liberal, including Romney.

Pointing out the obvious is not a left wing tactic.

No, but lying about honest principled conservatives and the absolute truth they are posting about that lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberal Mitt Romney is.

“I actually have a friend who thought similarly about McCain, and so voted for Obama. A lot of good that did us all.”

Then your friend accepted the binary decision-making failure.

The bigger issue is that the GOPe has strongly supported a candidate who has routinely supported evil, is not a conservative and participates in an anti-Christian religion. Totally outside my control. I’m not completely convinced McCain would have led to a better long-term result than Zero.

...

When you support a candidate that supports evil, you discourage the base.
When you discourage the base, they don’t work, give or vote.
When they don’t work, give or vote, you are out of power.
When you are out of power, you sit at home more watching cable TV.
When you watch the lame programing on cable, you get depressed.
When you get depressed, you to to motivational workshops.
When you go to motivational workshops, you feel self-confident.
When you feel self-confident, you go to Vegas and bet wildly.
When you bet wildly in Vegas, you end up sleeping on a park bench.
When you sleep on a park bench, you end up selling your hair to a wig shop to get enough money to go home.
When you sell your hair to a wig shop, you look like Karl Rove...

Don’t support candidates that support evil.

I’m no legal beagle (and shoot me if I ever start to change professions), but I have yet to figure why the whole licenses/fees gimmick can be help up as ‘good’ for guns, but using the same logic vs. voting...it’s a ‘poll tax’ and ‘not-good’

Now there you go again, thinking with your principles, values and ethics.

Don't you know you are just supposed to ignored those pesky things and Romney's record because "He's not Obama"?

See, you just need to get with the program and be a good little mindless Republican, your principles don't matter this POTUS election, in fact, they don't matter any POTUS election.

I have two words for you: Wise Latina.

We can live in the real world or in a dream world. The damage done to our country by Obama has been severe, really severe. It started on Day One when he sent the bust of Winston Churchill packing. If you don't think, especially in retrospect, that this was a Big FU Western Civilization, then you're not playing with a full deck.

These are times which try men's souls.

“I have two words for you: Wise Latina.”

I have two responses.

... First, if the Republicans had Senators with BALLS and convictions, it wouldn’t have happened. The Presidency can’t fix the party. It is filled with RINOs and RINO lovers, who want Mitt to lead them to higher levels of RINOdumb.

... Second, Gov. RINOmney appointed 75% non-republican, liberal, gay and abortion leaning judges. How wise was that? How much conservative conviction did it show? Just imagine how he will promote all kinds of silly liberal things with Executive power. And the RINOs will gladly hold his hand and sing songs of glee as he does it. At least with Zero, they are “somewhat” in opposition.

Sorry, no scare sale.

Mitt is a turd. Obama is a turd. You can’t freshen up the punchbowl by scooping out one turd and throwing in a new one...

As governor of Massachusetts, Romney signed a ban on assault weapons, at the time saying "These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense. They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people."

***

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldn’t make any sense at all."" -- President Ronald Reagan

All too true. Unfortunately, to many here, as long as a ‘Republican’ wins it’s all good...

Though the current Republicans in Congress haven’t said a peep about recess appointments, F&F, etc. Why would they be up in arms with their own team helping promote BIG gov’t?

I’m surprised the brow beating, being a Libertarian, hasn’t commenced just yet for my insubordinate thinking *off to the Republican ‘training’ camp*

As if the turds currently in Congress, church mice-like currently, will hold the line to anything Mitt would push...

They think I’m pulling the level for Kerry, Jr., for the party, they can kiss my rosy-red ass. Principled, indeed.

Neah. We still hate him. We just hate Obama more. And we’re trying hard to find some sort of silver lining.
Unfortunately, everything about Mitt that looks like a silver lining usually turns out to be, at best, tin.

If he thinks Romney was a disaster, wait until he sees what Pres. Obama’s second term is going to be like...

Barring a miracle at the ‘Pubbie convention, we’re not getting any good choices this year.

Take a look and see why Rick Santorum received an A+ NRA rating:

‘“He [Rick Santorum] was the most effective advocate of bringing it [legislation to protect gun companies from frivolous lawsuits] to the floor and getting a vote scheduled. He used his influence to get it to the floor. Without that, we would have lost every American gun company.”

– Wayne LaPierre, CEO – National Rifle Association, October 25, 2006’

excerpt http://www.ricksantorum.com/defending-2nd-amendment-rights

It looks like, according to Wayne LaPierre, we would have lost every gun manufacturer in the U.S.A. if it weren’t for Santorum. Let’s keep this in mind the next time Rick Santorum is the presidential nominee.

Just thought I’d add this great story as more incentive to vote for, and support, pro-Second Amendment rights politicians:

“Gun-toting grandma fights off armed robbery with .38-caliber revolver

Posted by The Right Scoop on April 24th, 2012
snip

she said she heard a voice in her head whisper to her to get into the front seat and lock the door. She immediately did, and she said that likely saved her life.

Seconds later, two men carrying guns approached her. One of them, later identified by police as Brenton Lance Spencer, 32, started to shout at her through the front passenger door to open the vehicle up and give him her money. The other, whom Macon police have identified as Dantre Horatio Shivers, 30, stood in front of the truck, also pointing a gun.

“(Spencer) shouted, ‘Give me the f—— money and open the f—— door!’ ” Campbell said. “I said, ‘Oh my God, somebody is going to rob me.’ I said, ‘Baby, you’re going to kill me anyway, so I don’t have to open it!’ ”

Campbell said she reached for her .38-caliber revolver just as Spencer allegedly fired at her. She felt Spencer’s bullet whiz by her chest as she fired back. Her shot hit Spencer in the chest.”

It looks like Heaven, and her gun, saved this brave lady.
