The Republican Party establishment has withstood the tea-party revolution.
The tricorne-hat wearing, Gadsden-flag waving insurgents were nowhere near the Republican National Committees annual meeting of state chairman, which wrapped up at a posh resort here Saturday afternoon.
Instead, veteran party leaders who wore business suits even in the 100-degree heat reigned supreme.
The 2012 meeting of the Republican national command shows just how little has actually changed in the Grand Old Party since the tea-party movement helped Republicans capture the U.S. House majority two years ago and announced that they were a powerful force in American politics.
While tea-party activists have won county chairmanships and seats on state central committees, few (if any) activists have clinched slots on the Republican Partys 168-member governing committee.

The only person with enough insider knowledge of DC, who is hated enough by the establishment, and enough of a bastard to change DC and the powers that be is Newton Leroy Gingrich.

Main article: Republican Revolution
In the 1994 campaign season, in an effort to offer an alternative to Democratic policies and to unite distant wings of the Republican Party, Gingrich and several other Republicans came up with a Contract with America, which laid out ten policies that Republicans promised to bring to a vote on the House floor during the first hundred days of the new Congress, if they won the election.[41] The contract was signed by Gingrich and other Republican candidates for the House of Representatives. The contract ranged from issues such as welfare reform, term limits, tougher crime laws, and a balanced budget law, to more specialized legislation such as restrictions on American military participation in United Nations missions.
In the November 1994 elections, Republicans gained 54 seats and took control of the House for the first time since 1954. Longtime House Minority Leader Bob Michel of Illinois had not run for re-election, giving Gingrich, the highest-ranking Republican returning to Congress, the inside track at becoming speaker. The midterm election that turned congressional power over to Republicans “changed the center of gravity” in the nation's capital.[42] Time magazine named Gingrich its 1995 “Man of the Year” for his role in the election
Agree 100%.
Dont forget the old coot pubbie that lost the primary in delaware.LOL, i cant remember his name.
Politico wrote this.
This election is so vital. Yes, we sent them a message in 2010 and we cannot undo all the time, effort and hard work to vote for a clear rino like Romney.
Romney has had to spend millions to obtain his delegates and he has 19 states to go..he is not winning a clear majority. He will not win against Obama.
YOU are right on about Newt. Name ONE living conservative that has accomplished as much as Gingrich did as speaker...there aren't any.

You are right, and I can think of a lot of other conservative heroes who have been elected...
But the sad thing about this article is how the establishment, with their hold on power at the national, state and local levels, still pretty much considers the Tea Party a necessary annoyance...
And that is why I think so many TPers get co-opted once they get to DC, the see how things are set up and have a real dilemma...
I posted your little original article with my reply because I hope others will read it scrolling through. I already did a C&P earlier... (I always steal your stuff) :)
I am hearing REALLY GOOD THINGS FROM PEOPLE IN DELAWARE... KEEP PRAYING!!
I am sorry to pee on your parade, but newt has been the establishment since he was born. newt on illegals, cap and tax, scozzafava, sitting on a couch....any couch...with pelosi eliminates this jackwagon from my vote. Pelosi is insane. Newt would do the moon colony while taxing us more. He is unstable. His wife is a control freak. No thanks. Palin should be chanted long and loud at the convention.
What’s that old saying? “Win the fight, but lose the war”!!! The GOP elite can take full blame for this whole debacle.
Thanks for this thread.

HEY ROMNEY!
Look us in the eye,
And never, EVER lie!
If you mean what you say,
Then say what you mean!
Stand and deliver
What you plan to do,
In case you havent noticed,
No one likes you.
Our line in the sand,
Puts your Romney Road to Ruin
Alongside Obamas Wrong Track.
So stop your damned Smiley-Face,
And attack, Attack, ATTACK!
We will oppose you in Tampa,
For what you lack,
We want America to be back
On the Constitution Track.
Do you have it in you?
I doubt that you do,
You see a Pinko future,
And we see Red, White and Blue.
Correct, but it's not an analysis, really just a bunch of quotes from people in attendance... Nothing they can really spin too much...
This article is a J-O-K-E. Tell it to Richard Lugar, tell it to Orrin Hatch. They are shitting in their Depends over Tea Party-endorsed upstarts, and Lugar is going down at the very least. We are not done by a longshot.
It ain't over 'till it's over.
I agree. The article isn't about tea party elections, it's about them being treated like 2nd class citizens by the GOP elite, which holds the reins of power for the most part.
I think, election wise, there are some good candidates for the TP just starting to get noticed.
And, yes, Hatch, if you saw him give his statement afterwards, he was livid and trying very hard to hide it.
Mike Castle. Barack Obama actually called him to extend his sympathy when O'Donnell beat him in the primary... that was a great yuk!!
Palin supports Newt. Todd Palin officially endorsed Newt.
Better luck next time.
Yada yada yada yada...
I could take the time and post a link to rebut each of your pathetic anti-Newt, fact-challenged statements, but I won’t bother... I don’t think you have the intellectual apparatus necessary to do anything but spit out talking points...
Sorry for you...
gop’s biggest mistake is not embracing the tea party, we are going to watch them die with romney as the head lol and yet some of you still think there is hope in the party.
Thank you,
LOL Yeah GOPe, we’ve crawled back under our rocks. We’re working tirelessly to defeat you in races all across the country. There is no time to come out with flags waving. You’ll be hearing from us in the ‘12 elections, just like you did in ‘10.
You miss the point of the article, and I wonder if you read it - it is about the big bash in AZ and demonstrates how the Tpartiers are making no progress in climbing the internal GOP corporate ladder.
They are still hammering in the elections, agree, and better stuff to come. But this is about the human crud that populates the GOP inner circles, and doles out the favors and underhanded tricks, i.e., which romney has benefited greatly from...
When None of the Above is the favored Nominee, then the Delegates at the National Convention in Tampa are obligated to reject the winner and select the BEST Nominee.
The Primary Campaign thus far has shown that the politics of Debt and Decline of Obama will not be changed with the GOP Nominee being Romney.
This Primary Campaign has shown that only the candidates without a workable plan to reduce baseline Federal spending are popular with the Primary voters.
Hence, it is incumbent upon the Republican National Committee to step in, withdraw their endorsements of Romney, and declare an open Convention in Tampa.
To do less is to insure another 4 years of voters choosing 4 more years of Debt and Decline from Obama, or Romney.
We, as a Nation, cannot afford either one.
Listen to this from the story:
==============But when asked about the tea-partys influence in interviews here, the movement was always spoken of in the third person and as one constituency in the larger Republican coalition, sort of like defense hawks or fiscal conservatives.
Many Republicans here said that tea-party activists now understand that things will run more smoothly if those with experience are in charge rather than those who put a premium on ideology over process.==============
If anybody needed to know the extend of the GOP-E’s arrogance, there it is right there.
They look down upon conservatives in a major way.
I am not supporting the GOP candidate for president this time. If I see tea party candidates for lesser office, I will support them. I support conservatives, not republicans.
I'll bet they do. But this "sympathy" comes at the cost of offering a candidate that is anathema to everything the Tea Party adherents stand for: large government, gun control, pro-abort. What we have here is nothing more than lip service: the lip service Romney has made toward the conservative position on these issues that his record contradicts, and the lip service the GOP elite has made toward the Tea Party people on the ideas with which they purportedly "sympathize." It is, in short, a lie.
...when asked about the tea-partys influence in interviews here, the movement was always spoken of in the third person and as one constituency in the larger Republican coalition...
This is, I think, excellent analysis. Were this the traditional politics it seems, some concession would be made to this constituency, some compromise, but in fact nothing of the sort has been made or looks likely. Does anyone really think Romney is going to start pushing Tea Party programs? Does anyone think that a Vice Presidential candidate acceptable to the Tea Partiers is even on the table when the talk is of Rice and Portman?
Clearly the GOPe considers the Tea Party movement not ready for national prime time, and perhaps they are correct. But the attempts to incorporate its passion, its programs, its membership into a broader Republican effort have been just as amateur and ineffectual as anything they have accused the Tea Partiers of. It simply isn't very good politics and it doesn't look to improve much. I'd love to be wrong about that but the smart money just isn't on it.
I almost clicked the abuse button, and not so sure I still won’t... take your filth and go somewhere else...
Which is exactly WHY I am campaigning AGAINST both Romney and Obama - and working towards getting everyone to vote for the Constitution party candidate for Prez and straight Conservative in every other race.
The Ruling Class hates our guts, are allies with Obama, and their contempt by foisting a candidate they know will lose to Obama demands that we stop playing their game and drinking the poison they are shoving in our face.
I’m finished aiding the GOP, and will only vote Conservative, wherever they are found.
The Marxist Left and the GOP Ruling Class is at war with Conservative America! When are we going to recognize that reality and treat them in-kind?
I’ve signed my Declaration of Independence from the Ruling Class GOP-e. They can pound sand.

I know it's a long article, but I really hope people will take the time to read it. IT is dripping with arrogance and condescencion.
Esp this quote you cited: "Many Republicans here said that tea-party activists now understand that things will run more smoothly if those with experience are in charge rather than those who put a premium on ideology over process.."
In other words, boys and girls, don't bother us with those silly things called principles or standing for what you believe. You'll do much better if you keep working in the fields, and REMEMBER: DON'T EVER COME UP ON THE PORCH AGAIN.
Disgusting. And the elite will be even more emboldened once they cram Romney down our throats. They'll know next time, it's just a matter of waiting those silly TPartiers out..
“And the elite will be even more emboldened once they cram Romney down our throats. “
Yep, I see Romney to be a bigger threat this time than Obama. If he wins, the direction of the GOP will forever be changed.
Little Big Horn is known as Custard’s Last Stand, in reality it was the Sioux’s last stand. Wounded Knee to follow.

I posted your analysis in my replay because it is spot on. You forgot one important fact, though: the GOP was more than happy to take the gains in the House and Senate via the Tea Party 2010, Boehner got his speakership, etc etc.
And now, they want us to take our marching orders from them and not make waves..
That's what Romney is about, they choose, we abide.
That's why voting and working for Newt is so important. They TOTALLY HATE HIM. And he's got their number, bigtime.

Yep, I see Romney to be a bigger threat this time than Obama. If he wins, the direction of the GOP will forever be changed.
If they succeed with Romney, they will know they just have to wait the conservatives, all types, out and eventually, they will support the nominee. It is a very dangerous message we are sending to the GOP-e.
That's why people rolling over for Romney don't really understand what they are doing, I don't think so, anyway.

My most favorite line. TO Romney:
GO NEWT!! ONTO TAMPA!
It’s ENTIRELY Jim’s FABULOUS work. I just posted it to that Newt-basher.
You CAN support Newt with a very clear conservative conscience...
"The only thing holding us back right now is intimidation over the giants we face. They are not bigger than we are if we stand together."

I AGREE with your Agree :)
You’re spouting old, old Democratic Party talking points meant to demoralize conservatives. Exactly what I would expect from a troll in Maine.
If the article makes any point worth noting in general, it is that the Tea Party and all conservatives need to work harder at gaining chairmanships, leadership committe posts, etc..
INFILTRATE.
“Yep, I see Romney to be a bigger threat this time than Obama. If he wins, the direction of the GOP will forever be changed.”
Hey, I hear what you guys are saying, I agree with all your arguments.
An open convention would be powerful.
But.... Absolutely NO ONE is as big a threat than Obumo.
The direction of the GOP already sucks. Romney getting elected cannot make it suck worse. Obumo getting reelected makes everything suck worse.
THANKS for posting this... MORE AND MORE people need to see and OFTEN...
Sleep tight... :)
The GOPe are the walking dead. They just don’t know it yet.
You're peeing on Sarah Palin. We need to help Newt in order to stop Romney from getting the 1144 delegates. Once that happens, THEN we can rally for nominating Sarah Palin at the convention.
