I heard Liljenquist on one of the talk shows last week. I really like the guy. He was pretty sure that it was going to go down this way. He’d be awesome in the Senate, IMHO.

I heard via Twitter too that Hatch began his speech with a Romney endorsement video. Didn’t do much good!

Wait Liljenquist? Isn’t he a Mormon? Aren’t there a bunch of FR posters running around spamming threads with anti-Mormon junk claiming that being a Mormon alone makes one a liberal. That Mormons are “progressive” because of their faith? Isn’t Liljenquist a Tea Party conservative and a Mormon? How could this be?

Hatch told delegates before the final vote that experience can make all the difference in getting conservative priorities passed. "It will be my last six years in the U.S. Senate, but they'll be the best six years and the most critical six years of all," he said. Hatch would have to reasons to carry out this promise. He will be under no pressure to deliver as he is a lame duck. What makes any voter think he will deliver, with this lame duck status!? If Hatch is so good at doing his job, then why is he even in this predicament?? The voter think otherwise, he is doing a poor job at representing them.

Liljenquist interviewed with Bain and Company with a year to go in law school and was the only one selected from University of Chicago.
Yes, THAT Bain... as in Mitt Romney and Bain Capitol.
He got an award from Dick Armey's FreedomWorks, at which former UT US Senator Bill Bennett (turned out by the Tea Party) is a senior fellow.
He's only been in office 3 years... trust but verify.

No Mittmentum-not even in Utah.Mr. Liljenquist, 37, is backed by FreedomWorks, a conservative Tea Party-affiliated group in Washington, and also worked for Bain Consulting a company strongly associated with the likely Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

The idea that one is automatically a political liberal because they are a Mormon is ridiculous. Dumb as it is, there are a few fanatics that insist this is true. Never mind all the Tea Party Mormons who helped get rid of Bennett and are trying to do the same to Hatch. Some of these people just hate Mormons and insist on repeating dopey things on thread after thread.

Yeah, like Obama’s favorite Republican will ever go away. If Lugar loses his primary, I guarantee he will pull a Murkowski.
To: taildragger
He should have stood up to the “progressive” for constitutional freedom. How could any senator watch TSA hand rape children, old ladies and handicapped people in the name of 911 Muslim terrorism, and not be outraged every day of their lives?
To: Longbow1969; taildragger
Arent there a bunch of FR posters running around spamming threads with anti-Mormon junk claiming that being a Mormon alone makes one a liberal. That Mormons are progressive because of their faith? I don't know. Maybe you can find some of those FR posters on this thread and ask them. Surely you don't mean for taildragger to answer for others, do you?
If you don't see any of the FR posters on this thread to whom you're referring, maybe ping them here so they see your questions.
Otherwise, you look like someone who enjoys going around kicking rhetorical anthills just for the helluvit.

Hatch got 57% in the first vote and 59.2% in the 2nd. Thus the forced primary as it takes 60% to avoid the primary. Dan Liljenquist a former state senator will be his opponent.

Saw him on Greta last night - he is really pissed off & bitter & that was before he knew he’d have to face a primary. He seems to think it is personal with Freedom Works .... went on a rant about all the money they’ve spent against him vs Obama, etc. He’s been in DC waaay too long as evidenced by his attitude.

If he is stealth RINO, I’d like to know, but your source link requires log in to the NY Times. (No thanks.) It would not surprise me one bit for Mitt to attempt to get one of his people into office. They would eventually turn RINO just like he does. But I wonder if that news piece isn’t just disinformation propaganda from the NY Times in order to help Hatch.

Hatch is a mormon and there have been zero anti-mormon threads.
There have been many threads exposing mormonISM.
These mormon politicians are who they are because of their mormonISM not in spite of it.
