NEW YORK (AP) Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich told Republicans at a New York state party dinner that he would work for Mitt Romney's victory in the general election if Romney wins the nomination.
"We are dedicated to a unified Republican Party," he said.

Dirty RINO!
Add another to the list.
talk bad about the Newtster, get the zot! /s
I SAW GINGRICH DOWNTOWN IN BUFFALO NY TODAY (I GOT HIS AUTOGRAPH ON A LAWN SIGN)
HE IS *NOT* FOLDING HIS TENT
HE WAS FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HE IS REDOUBLING HIS EFFORT SINCE NOW THERE IS ONLY ROMNEY AND A REAL CONSERVATIVE TO VOTE FOR, NOT DIVIDE UP THE CONSERVATIVE VOTES 5 WAYS
They are not RINO’s.
One may argue that that are CINO’s , but not RINO’s.
If your local eatery, a steak house , serves a Chinese dish on the menu once every 30 years. do you think it’s a Chinese Restaurant?
The GOP is a centrist party.
Always has been and despite efforts to change it, always shall be.
We need to support the Constitution party.
Awesome!
I hope he gets it.
Be great for a Newt/Palin 2012 run!
Despite the many Newt on a couch with Pelosi posts!
What’s he supposed to say, if I don’t win, vote for Obama? C’mon!
Further evidence that Newt was the guy I thought he was. I wish he could get the nomination, but at least he has the INTELLIGENCE, the MATURITY, and the CLASS, to maintain focus on the objective. Way to go, Newt; you’ll ALWAYS have my support.
You mean Newt won’t do a write-in?
Many people on FR seem to be rooting for Obama to win.
The problem is hypocrisy. People will cut Newt slack for his logic, but rip on the lowly folks here though, who have said the exact same thing, with many precisely not happy about having to do it. Still the small fries get no quarter, but the big boys get a pass.
I personally hope Newt can pull it off. I am just sick of the double standards and lock-step groupthink the proles have to have, but the very same folks who say we all have to think the same pull out the excuse boxes for the kings of the party and don’t even regard their own hypocrisy one second. It’s like being trapped in “When Conservatives Behave Like Hardcore Liberals”.
Immature, pant-peeing, four-year-olds who can’t stand it when they don’t get their way. Scream, dance, and pee in their shoes.....
Whats he supposed to say, if I dont win, vote for Obama? Cmon!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How about he kept his jowls shut? Are we to be expecting his concession speech now?
He’s all but given up.
No big surprise here....Every (R) will do this because they have the brand and there is nowhere else to go. Once Newt is out, I’m not joining the cattle drive. (down-ticket only)
I guess the proles are not allowed to actually play the game of politics, withhold their votes, or have some private Machiavellian purpose for taking some vote or decision that does not seem to make sense to your friends (at the time) but is later revealed to have been a masterstroke of politics!
Those of us who won’t buckle for Romney are all that? You can blow me
)))
)))
)))
)))
a kiss, sweetheart.
Did you notice his tagline? He’s missing a word. I’ll fix it for him.
Never underestimate the stupidity of the American REPUBLICAN voter
So what do we think about Newt being Secretary of State?
Voting for RINOS/CINOs only encourages them.
“Whats he supposed to say, if I dont win, vote for Obama? Cmon!”
How about if I don’t win, vote for a conservative?!
No Romney, no way.
“How about he kept his jowls shut? Are we to be expecting his concession speech now? Hes all but given up.”
No! Not at all!
Now, when Gingrich takes it all the way to the Convention and the delegates get to talk to each other, size up the blue-jeans-with-button-down-collar-Brooks-Brothers-shirt- wearer against The Cheerful One, replay all the Gaffes of the Gaffemeister, and realize the very idea that the American electorate would vote the tarp-supporting, Wall Street Corporate Raider, Obamneycare author ex-Governor of assechusetts into the Presidency was crazy;
the delegates will then nominate Gingrich at the convention so we at least have a CHANCE against the Demos, and Gingrich will then be in a position to demand the support of Romney and the establishment, which was withheld by Romney’s Dad and the Rockefeller Republicans in the Goldwater campaign of 1964. That’s all.
See post # 24.
Bad news for Newt Freepers... they sunk all their emotional effort into Newt and now he says he’ll support Romney? I predict this web site will go up in flames...
“Bad news for Newt Freepers... they sunk all their emotional effort into Newt and now he says hell support Romney? I predict this web site will go up in flames...”
No way! We are the resistance!
We’ll show them, we’ll stay home in November.
And trust me. I am, and I will.
That’s Gingrich playing Republican politics, but I won’t vote for Romney. But Gingrich, yes.
Perhaps you misjudge our understanding of politicians. We know that they are all functionaries, and to use the old phrase “seekers after office”. We are fine with that. We just happen to value our vote, monetary donations and professed support.
Newt will do as thousands of functionaries do unless they become statesmen — he will look for future employment should Romney become the nominee. Not us.
We will continue to ask for, look for and demand the efforts to save the nation. I know it seems old fashioned but we are sixteen years out of compromise.
Failing that we will stay right here speaking of the First Things, the value of the culture we received and posting to all that will respond.
We don’t have to all agree, just endure.
LOL the delusional are finally coming to grips with reality.
“Bad news for Newt Freepers... they sunk all their emotional effort into Newt and now he says hell support Romney? I predict this web site will go up in flames...”
I predict this website will continue to support conservative values, causes, and leadership, and if there are no worthy politicians, it will support worthy generals.
Woo-Hoo!
Good for you and GO NEWT!!!!
LOL. Don't forget, you can always vote Constitution Party or write in Sarah Palin. You'll really teach em' a goshdarn lesson they'll never forget!
The difference being is that it is expected of all and by all that the candidates will support the party and the nominee. We as prospective voters aren’t expected by all or obligated or bound to support the nominee or the party. There has been a lot of pressure on some to support Romney because he is inevitable or to at least declare that we will support him if he gets the nomination. If we make such a declaration we are counted as supporting Romney and that only makes him more inevitable and assures Romney he can expect Conservatives to fall in line without him even having to make any concessions or even promises to Conservtives other thant to proclaim himself to be severly conservative and not obama. I have two alternatives to Romney, Newt Gingrich and a brokered convention that could produce another candidate. I’ll not help Romney, let’s see who the nominee is and what our choices are. I would expect loyalty from Newt and for him to take any other path at this time except to pledge support for the party nominee would be wrong, I’m not held to the same expectation or standard.
I’m afraid to respond. I just know that I do not want Obama for another four years.
Really? People are talking about the end of the country and CWII, and we are all supposed to be okay with Newt saying he’ll back Romney, who we’ve been screamed at on this site he’ll get us over the cliff at 85 MPH as opposed to Obama’s 100 MPH?!?! Do we really want the same ol’ same ol’ response from candidates if this election is as important as we supposedly say it is? Cripes.
I would think for one of the candidates to say they would not support the party nominee at this point would be tantamount to saying they will start a new party if they don’t get the nomination, which may not be a bad thing except for being to late in this cycle.
Again, if Obama’s taking us over the cliff at 100 mph, and Romney is going to take us over at 85 mph, as we’ve been preached to here, isn’t that important enough not to say he won’t support going over the cliff just at a little slower rate?
Or are people here just blowing smoke when the rubber hits the road. either this is the most critical election and we can’t keep going in the same direction, full speed or 85% of full speed, or that’s all just bullsh1t and we’re just playing politics again and we’re going to have another McCain event.
I agree withh you on about everything you say especially about Romney, I’m saying for Newt to state that he wouldn’t support the Republican nominee would turn into a bigger attack on him by the gop-e and the media and he would again be detracted from his message and put on defense. I’m not bound by previous committments but when or if Newt would renege on what is a normal agreement among Republican candidates would be up to Newt and I do believe at this time it would be a distraction. My primary goal is for Newt to get the nomination, my secondary goal would be deprive Romney of the nomination by any means. The agreement to support the eventual nominee among the candidates is not recent. If Romney gets the nomination he may get as much support from the other candidates as he gave McCain / Palin.
The problem isn’t really hypocrisy.
The problem is those who keep posting, “it’s over, Romney is the nominee [sic], Newt is destroying the party, etc.”.
In other words, stop supporting your candidate because it is a hopeless cause. Well, to Hell with that! The people posting those messages are, I believe, not the realists they claim to be but Obots trying to discourage conservatives.
The nominating convention is 4-months away. No one, NO ONE, has yet been nominated. This is politics in all its wicked and evil permutations.
