What started as a self-defense shooting at a Tampa convenience store last month has turned into a murder investigation.
Store owner Taquanda Shanti Baker, 32, is charged with filing a false police report, tampering/fabricating evidence and firing her weapon in an occupied dwelling to make it look like self-defense.
The charges stem from a shooting last month at Bakers Mini Mart on Armenia Avenue.
Tampa Police say Baker completely made up a story about shooting and killing 16-year-old Quantavius Moore, who goes by Antonio.
Three weeks ago, Baker told detectives she was working at a mini-mart and shot Moore because he pulled a gun and was trying to rob the store.
Police say her story did not match forensic evidence or witness statements.
Based on surveillance video from a nearby business, police say Baker was not at the scene when Moore was shot. Officers say Baker arrived nine minutes after the first 911 call.
Moore's mom wants to know why Baker's covering for the actual shooter.
Tampa Police Chief Castor says Baker knows the person of interest but is not cooperating with detectives.
"There is a relationship between the two of them and we know that they have a child in common, Castor said. And we're trying to get to the bottom of his identity is what we need right now."

Typical!
Is there even one individual, native-born, on the entire continent of Africa, named “Taquanda”?
If Obama only had another daughter.......
Wow. Taquanda Shanti’s store is now accepting EBT?
Who Knew? I wonder if I can gets me some malt liquor and some lottery tickets too?
As gang thugs and diversity racists figure out self defense laws, they will pose as self defenders although they are aggressors and murderers. They will, as usual, undermine individual freedom. It will be raaaacis to permit some self defense arguments while rejecting others... This is the purpose of Trayvon - to confuse good from evil and right from wrong so that the elitists can step in and name self defense by “stupid” peasants dangerous to law and order.
Was there ever even one individual in the entire history of the Roman Empire or the Roman Republic before it named "Quantavius"? Does "Quantavius" even mean anything?
Or Quantavius? Poor guy probably just wanted some IT and Skillets.
Taquanda, Quantavius, a murder and an illegitimate kid, all elements of the great American novel.
Taquanda shot Quantavius, hmmm.
A mysterious white Hispanic done it!
Looks like figuring out the self defense laws might be a very tall order for these folks. There’s little likelihood that we have to worry that public school will teach them any critical thinking skills.
In California, thirty percent of the Black female names given at birth each year are shared by no-one else in the state for that year.
“Is there even one individual, native-born, on the entire continent of Africa, named Taquanda?

With respect, not quite sure if I follow your argument. In the last 25 years, 93% of blacks that have been murdered, have been killed by blacks..so called “black on black” crime. A large percentage of these are innocent victims. If anything, blacks shoudl therefore be more focused on the need for self-defense..or perhaps, “self preservation” might be a better term.
ROFL!!!!
I'm going to guess the boyfriend did the shooting, the boyfriend is a felon or otherwise not legally allowed to have a gun, and/or the gun used was stolen or implicated on other crimes.
Interesting facts about the name “Quantavious”, no?
Since 1910, your name was recorded 262 times in American baby names history.

I wonder how many of these 262 Quantavious’s have finished high school? Been in jail? Collected welfare? Been shot by a black woman named Taquanda Shanti?
(Sigh)
I just don’t get it. It has been a well known fact that naming your kid some stupid made up name is marking him/her for life.
Setting them up for failure and poverty.
“Quantavious”
A friend had this. He had to use eye drops for weeks.

Actually, since Quantavius is dead he really no longer "goes by Antonio" or anything else. Just sayin . . .
Fiddy centz in Harlem.
Race baitors have called on blacks to use self defense as an excuse to murder. We’ll see.
It was the name of an airline during the Roman Empire.
“Where DO they get these names? Id be embarrassed...”
Actually, I used to just laugh and move on until I really thought about it.
These names tell us so much about exactly who was involved when the details are somehow omitted from the body of the news story.
Which they invariably are, in the holy name of PC...
Well done!
Actually it’s a variation of “Juan”
On a thread the other day a Freeper mention a name in the news as Semaj”. James spelled Backward.
Now I’m searching, in the news, everyday for a perp named Reggin.
What’s the odds of a Quantavius getting shot by a Taquanda.
Probably not that high!
I won't even tell you how many I have to date. Let me just say the two in this story are far from the oddest around.
Hey, since the Trayvon Martin case, we’ve been told, has nothing to do with race, why isn’t Al Sharpton’s lynch mob marching in Tampa about this....oh, wait, I see now.
NBC cherry-bomb journalism on the march covering race relations! If at first it don't seethe try, try again to make it seethe.
The dark-skinned white woman had claimed the 16-year-old victim pictured here
had pulled a gun on her and she fired in self-defense. Witnesses across the street say they heard her call the victim names . . . .

Recall the late unfortunate ATF agent G. G. Jackson.
....but he did not shoot the iron skillet.
Quantavius.
Father of Hexavius.
Grandfather of Septavius.
Great-grandfather of Octavius.
No! Wait! That would have been Quintavius.
Never mind.
The above link is a video of a comedian named Trevor Noah on Jay Leno. He is “mixed race” (black) from South Africa. Very interesting and VERY funny bit. Talks about how he always wanted to come to America so he could be black.
“Or as they call themselves ‘African American’ - they’re not - but we’ll play along”.
Then goes into the whole weird name thing.
They're like anthropological site flags, aren't they?
LOL
This area of Tampa is near the old Haunted Hospital.
A H.U.D. project area that is as bad area as you can find.
Carpet bombing would be a blessing.
Right, you just know that this woman was “inspired” by the Trayvon coverage, and the media coverage of “stand your ground” laws. She thought she had found a loophole, and even though this time, she was not very smart, others are bound to try the same thing, over and over again.
Well, in order for them to recognize that fact and stop naming their kids with stupid names, they would have to first: a) understand that these names sound stupid to everyone else, and that this will affect the child’s life, then b) actually care about their child’s life. I think you are going to come up short in both of those departments with the people who pick these ludicrous names.
So many wacky cobbled up names I got a headache
