What are you both talking about? Whoever the GOP nominee gets my vote. I didn’t say I like Romney, I said I prefer Gingrich. I don’t have any control over the eventual nominee selection.

If Obama is assisted in gaining a second term by Free Republic and other similarly well-intentioned but errant conservatives purists, I will no longer need to pay attention to politics or the affairs of state at the national and global level.

Even if the conservatives keep control of the House and gain a majority in the Senate, our republic will still be either functionally dismantled or crippled beyond repair by the cementing in place of Obamacare, by more draconian edicts from the EPA, TSA, HHS and Obama’s tsar agencies. All to be administered by IRS regulations and agents as we are now seeing in the health care takeover.

To quote Obama we would have “trillion dollar deficits as far as the eye can see.” Helicopter Ben will be printing more trillions and implementing yet another quantitative easing program. Millions more devastated Americans will be purged from the labor force to mask the true unemployment rate.

(I am hopeful the SCOTUS will strike down the AHCA or at least kill the mandate but unless the whole thing is tossed out, the Dims will still implement Obamacare and fund it with additional fees on existing health procedures and on medicines, etc.)

And then, yes, there is the SCOTUS itself. Obama might well get to replace either a conservative justice or the squishy Kennedy with a fifth (or sixth) rock solid progressive to vote according to his socailist world view.

So if the conservative zealots are successful in getting Obama re-elected, they might win their battle but we will all lose the war. Even the small victory the Romney haters so desperately desire will surely be a faux victory for they will have assisted Obama in maintaining his iron grip on power to finish choking away our liberties.

Another Obama term will push me toward spending my remaining years in perhaps developing a film library of America’s good years and former greatness.

[For the record, I expect all this turmoil too be forgotten on election night. I have faith in the sense and goodness of our citizens that Obama will be shown the door in an election rout leaving him and his crying supporters bleating an empty charge of racism.]

My preference for the GOP nomination is Newt. That is where my vote will go.
BUT..... Romney will be the GOP nomination. At that time I will nicely tell all of you how your hate words did absolutely no good to the GOP and actually damaged the opportunity to unseat our self proclaimed king. AND.... You won't have the balls or the necessary honor and honesty to admit that I was right. You will just have more hate words. That situation will clearly define the person you are.

That situation will clearly define the person you are.

And it will also define who you are. We have a chance to destroy the Republican Party, they are asking for it.

Sadly, Hillary probably has more integrity and is more conservative than Mittens. If I recall all the details, Hillarycare would probably be considered to the right of Romneycare. I don’t remember it containing a tyrannical government mandate.

You may not have answered my question but you sound like one of the “conservatives” that blindly supports anyone with an R. Perhaps you are a liberal Republican. Supporting Romney would also make sense in that case.

By the way, I do note vote for Perot.

And no you did not call me an Obama supporter.

If you want to vote for Romney...fine. Just don’t spread the Romneywhore talking points on this site.

Today’s Scriptures were really, really relevant to that whole issue of what God can do. I wrote about that at http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2872221/posts?page=41#41

I am a very practical Very Conservative Republican. I want obozo out of our WH by any means possible as SOON as possible. I see the 2012 election as being between obozo and someone else, I am voting for the someone else.

BTW I don't know any romney talking points! I would like to have supported Rick Perry and now I am hoping for Newt.
So now you know everything about my political leanings, call me names if you wish.

With or without FR, Romney has no chance. He will lose in a Carteresque fashion.

People...regardless of their political persuasion rebuke empty suits. Romney (with a little help from media) has done a good job showing what an empty suit he is.

So, tell me, who do we vote for? Romney=Obama=a vote for crimes against humanity.

Mitt Romney created the contraceptive/abortifacient mandate and Obamacare, both of these men reject the Constitution on freedom of religion.

Is it a matter of voting for vice presidents instead of presidents? Don’t vice-presidents just go to state funerals?

So, basically, it’s a crime against humanity to vote for Romney or Obama as that is a direct vote for total war on children in the womb by these totally cowardly, anti-American, abusers of power out to harm children. Is one really better than the other? Really?

Ummm! You’re the one without the balls, honor or honesty to admit that Romney=Obama= a vote for crimes against humanity!!!

I understand both schools of thought. I'll probably hold my nose but I can't attack those that don't. Not this time.

What we need to do here is make sure the good republicans who are downticket receive our support and are not punished due to the jerk at the top of the ticket. Tim Walberg is a good man. Because Romney doesn't deserve support doesn't mean that Walberg doesn't either. He does.

I guess acquiescing and agreeing to vote for Romney is the difference in a “very conservative Republican” and a conservative.

I just can’t pull the trigger for a socialist with a different name.

Holder, Sebelius, Napoliantano, Chu, Sunstein, Van Jones, Kagan, Sotomayer.

I have no illusions of what Romney is, but I know what he isn't. He isn't someone who'd hire Holder.

Sorry. I wasn’t trying to call you names. I was trying to say that I could understand voting for Romney under a few conditions:

1) you support anyone with an R behind their name....when the are running against a different party

Or

2) you are a liberal Republican who agrees with his record on Planned Parenthood, abortion, global warming, cap& trade, socialized healthcare, liberal judges etc.

I just can’t see how a Republican can support him based upon his record.

The lesser of two evils is still evil.

Now it is night. Now, I am done. I have compromised, over and over and over for less and less and less. But I will not capitulate. Compromise was shame enough. Surrender is not acceptable.

I'm right there with you, and so are millions of other Americans. It's been 32 years since we've elected a real conservative to the presidency. 32 years of sliding ever leftward.

Having finally reached the moment in our history when we have what can only be described as an abject Marxist in the White House, the GOP answers this descent into full-blown Communism by running yet another milquetoast, unprincipled, political insider, who's got a track record that is indistinguishable from that of our opponents.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results. Well, I'm done playing crazy. I won't play that game any more. We're now well past the 'shame on me' stage. Every one of us bears responsibility for the knowledge we currently hold about this entire situation.

Voting for Romney, when you KNOW what he is, is no different than calmly squeezing a round off in your own mouth. You KNOW what the consequences will be.

No. If Romney wins, we have a bad republican president.

A bad republican president doesn't mean we lose the GOP forever. It means we have to work harder to make sure leadership holds the president in check. The GOP leadership is selected by precinct delegates/captains, which people run for. Those people pick county leadership and state delegates. State delegates select state leadership and RNC representation.

The GOP is bigger than the president.

That’s why we have primaries, precinct delegates, and leadership elections.

I forgot to put /S for sarcasm in my post.
Good to see all rational thinking people understand how devastating Obama 2nd term would be. It will be like “Obama gone wild” or “Obama gone mad” with no fear of re-elections.

I am the problem, not Obama? Interesting perspective. Your knee jerk assertion that I respect or am part of the GOP is erroneous.

I detest Romney and am appalled that he is our nominee apparent. I have zero respect for the establishment GOP RINOs.

But I am doing the only thing I know to do to get the Whitey-hating, America-hating, Constitution-shredding, missile- defense-destroying, Americafreedom-threatening communist out of the White House .

If you have a better plan to get him out, I’d love to hear it.

It means we will lose the GOP forever. With Romney losing, we can get a conservative in.

The GOP will survive whether or not Romney wins. It even survived Herbert Hoover, the worst Republican president in history by far who ran the brand into the ground after the underrated Harding and overrated but good Coolidge.

If Romney loses, we get four years of hell with Obama, Holder, and a good chance of losing the Supreme Court for 20 years. If Romney wins, it depends how he flips, but I don't expect much. The GOP will move on past Romney or whoever. Regardless of what happens, it will only be conservative if we elect good party leadership, good primaries, work downticket and get active.

This losing forever is nothing more than sky is falling crap and a lack of vision of the big picture. We have presidents, not kings. Downticket is important.
