This week, James OKeefes Project Veritas released video showing a young white man entering a polling place in Washington D.C. to vote in the presidential primary.
He walked up to the desk and asked a poll worker for the ballot of Attorney General Eric Holder, and gave Holders address. The worker began to hand him the ballot, at which point the young man said he wanted to show his identification. You dont need it, the poll worker replied. Its all right. As long as youre in here, youre on our list, and thats who you say you are, youre okay.
The tape broke huge, with Matt Drudge championing it at the top of the Drudge Report. And sure enough, the Department of Justice, which sometimes plays to Drudges tune, responded with ire and outrage: Its no coincidence that these so-called examples of rampant voter fraud consistently turn out to be manufactured ones.
Except, of course, that wasnt the point. OKeefe wasnt voting fraudulently; he was showing the public how easy it would be for someone with bad motives to vote fraudulently. And the DOJ knew that it would take a full-on fool not to understand that point.
But the DOJ has no interest in that point. It is far more interested in leaving loopholes for voter fraud than in filling in those gaps.
Their stated motive for opposing voter ID is that increases the possibility of racial bias. As the Associated Press recently reported, Liberal groups have said the requirements are the product of Republican-controlled state governments and are aimed at disenfranchising people who tend to vote Democratic African-Americans, Hispanics, people of low-income and college students. The Justice Department, in attempting to stop the implement of Texas new voter ID law, cited the same rationale, explaining that Hispanic voters in Texas are more than twice as likely than non-Hispanic voters to lack a drivers license or personal state-issued photo ID.
Why this should be true is anyones guess. It is certainly not due to institutional racism if it were, then the state would be sued on a regular basis for violating the Civil Rights Act. There are two forms of photo-issued ID in Texas: drivers licenses and simple identification cards. Both are available through simple applications. Voters must register to vote. Why shouldnt they also have to register to receive an ID beforehand?
And it isnt expensive to get an ID, either. An original drivers license in Texas costs $16; a six-year extension costs $25. A photo ID costs $6. It costs less that a decent Carls Jr. meal to register for identification.
But the cost isnt the real issue. The only people disenfranchised by voter ID requirements are those who cannot obtain a voter ID namely, illegal immigrants, felons, and others who should not be voting. And these are precisely the sorts of folks that Democrats love to register. In 2008, a full one-third of voters registered by ACORN and their affiliate, Project Vote, were fraudulent. Voter fraud has tainted presidential primaries in Iowa and Texas; Hillary Clinton supporters asserted, with significant evidence, that the Obama campaign regularly utilized fraudulent voting to impact results. Hans von Spakovsky at National Review points out that in Indiana in 2008, four Democrats were charged with conspiracy, forgery, and official misconduct in an attempt to get Barack Obama listed on the ballot. Obama barely made it.
When it came to the New Black Panthers intimidating voters in Philadelphia, Holder and Co. looked the other way. But when it comes to states enforcing the law, the Justice Department jumps in with both feet.
Do Democrats mean to steal the election of 2012? The numbers would have to be astonishing large to do that one vote isnt going to make a difference. But the problem that OKeefe exposed was this: there are no consequences for voter fraud..
The American people are losing faith in the electoral process especially when voter registration drives are run by lobbying groups with a very specific agenda. The leading voter registration drives largely spring from the bowels of the SEIU or the American Federation of Teachers. The unions are interested in registering voters but theyre only interested in registering a particular kind of voter. Thats their prerogative. And its our prerogative to ensure that every American who votes isnt cancelled out by someone voting illegally.
That’s easy, they know that if they can’t cheat, they can’t win!!
Oh, they care about it alright.
They can’t win without it.
I was going to say about the same thing.
They do care because they are the ones doing it.
Illegal alien voting has already flipped three elections for the Democrats - Webb in Virginia, Franken in Minnesota, and Sanchez in California.
To the left, the ends always justifies the means.
Oh they care about it. Only about being able to do it so they can win.
Democrats consider voter fraud to be restorative justice.
Well I do. We need to scream about the company in Spain counting our votes. That is fraud.
The college student issue is easy to understand. They have ID- from the state they came from. So they go to Harvard and register to vote under Motor Voter, but if you ask for ID, their ID is from Fort Wayne, Indiana not Cambridge, Massachusetts.
They SHOULD be getting absentee ballots. Heck, maybe they do!
Why not get a license where they are? Because their insurance company thinks the car is garaged in Fort Wayne, not some alley near Harvard.
The minority thing is more complex. Lots of “minorities” and lower income people move a lot (I know I was one), and often don’t update their ID with the addy of their new pad. So frequently their ID does not match where they registerd, and it takes a while to straighten out. But if you really drill it in that they must keep their ID in sync with their voter registration, everything is OK. But all the time, there are hassles with the ID being two apartments away from what they registered with.
They didn’t need illegal aliens to steal the governor election for Christine Gregoire in 2004. They brought Fast Eddie Rendell out from Philadelphia to teach them how to do it.
In 2000, there were more votes counted for Al Gore in Philadelphia than were people of voting age in Philadelphia. Gore got over 100% of the votes after the small percentage that Bush received.
Rendell is the top expert in voter fraud in the country. He gets results.
And who wont be surprised when Obama is closer to 47/48 approval in Illinois and California? do you think the powers that be will be in panic mode and rigg it?
That’s interesting.
I’ve always seen voter fraud as an integral part of the Democrat Party’s electoral strategy.
I hadn’t considered RINOs, but they are frauds so dishonesty is in their nature.
A lot more than that, its quite an organized profession for the democrats in Colorado, where there have been more voters then adult of age.
The only answer for why they care so much is: “duh.”
To “duh” the proper response is: “Oh, right, sorry I brought it up.”
Yes and more and more people will realize that their vote might be nullified by a fraudulent vote and so decide not to vote. The electoral process will collapse. All candidates should be demanding reform of the process and draconian penalties for election fraud. Stealing a vote is a serious injury, serious crime not just a petty trick.
With modern technology it would be easy and cheap build a 100% accurate fraud proof election process. We had better do it before the November election. Democracy presupposes honest elections. Vote fraud is not funny. There are very smart people scheming to steal the election now. We must act soon.
Any candidate who fails to scream STOP VOTE FRAUD is guilty, is a crook, no matter which party. Did I hear Rick Santorum calling for honest elections? No , they are all guilty accomplices. Democracy is done for. I pray Sarah Palin will come to our rescue and demand credible election.
and does anyone still believe Harry Weedwacker won fare and square in 2012? and who maintains the voting machines?
That's one of the brighter and more insightful things I've seen posted this week. Good post, thanx.
Bump
The thing I never see mentioned about this, is that ACORN type groups can make up thousands of fake names and addresses in any given precinct. Then they just send their goons to the voting booths under those fake names.
Early voting makes this even easier, as the poll workers will be less likely to remember specific faces, especially if they add a mustache one day, sunglasses the next, adjust a hair style or two...
One person can go to several precincts a day, and repeat every few days.
